Kaori

It took a little under half an hour of slow walking to reach Amber's gates. If the metallic structure ahead could even be called "gates". It was hard to know where the city started and ended, as already Kaori had passed by several random buildings and house-like structures. They looked like they'd been picked up and dropped out here in the middle of nowhere.

By now, Kaori's face had a few stray beads of sweat rolling down its sides and her heartbeat had been thudding in her ears for a while. As she reached the gates, though, she tried to get herself under control for long enough to talk.

The guards are probably behind this thing, she thought, looking at the almost tinfoil-like structure in front of her. Well, let's give this a shot.

"Um, hello!" Kaori called out.

No answer.

Hm... I guess I need to speak louder?

Taking a deep breath, Kaori shouted:
