[29] The End of the War, Results

Chapter 29: The End of the War, Results

The Messenger of Olympus, the God of speed, Hermes, did not leave Earth. He had decided on a whim to see this battle to its end.

What he found interesting was how the Trickster Loki was defeated and kidnapped by Supernova. He was about to follow them, but the battle outside was honestly much more climactic. So he stayed here.

The Man-Spider in a Suit was quite helpful. Hermes was a bit surprised by how impactful he was in this war with his decision-making and speed. He had swung by and defeated some enemies with chunks of rocks he grabbed from the entryway of a building.

"Spider, clear the left!"

"Yes, Captain!"

He even swung by the group that called themselves the Avengers. In all seriousness, Hermes was impressed by the Man-Spider.

There's something more impressive though. The mutant Magma shone bright like a sun at one point, having transformed into her magma form and destroyed all enemies, yet she was not the only sun in this area.

A literal sun joined the war, flying from another part of the city, and shining down on the enemies.

The Human Torch entered the war.

Representing the Fantastic Four, he fought for the Earthlings and pushed the enemies back further than ever before. That heat of his could even scorch Hermes if it touched him that is.

Hermes was reminded of Apollo by this young man. Quite impressive.

In fact, in retrospect, Human Torch was more useful than Thor Odinson in this battle. Hermes was actually quite disappointed with the Norse God, who fought with his hammer like it was his authority. Hermes expected that someone with the same authority as Zeus would properly utilize thunder, not just hammers!

"Mhm,"

Hermes shifted a little and looked far. He sensed something weird. A great combust of power… Not magic, nor a superpower.

"Ah."

He soon understood what it was. Many gods would die from that.

"A Nuclear Bomb."

It seemed that these foolish humans were about to destroy their own city.

Shaking his head, Hermes sighed as he realized it was time to leave. Raising his head towards the sky, he tapped his feet. Pristine wings popped up from behind his ankles, and he vanished from his spot as they flapped, traveling at a speed so incredible that even Hiemdall lost sight of him.

Hermes left for Olympus.

****

Enrique burst through the streets of Manhattan and shot through the sky. Rogue was in his arms, while the Scepter was attached to his back like a sword, placed into the holder created by his suit.

"What shall thou do henceforth?"

Rogue was enjoying his embrace while her eyes scanned the cityscape that they passed, easily keeping up. A group of Chitauri suddenly followed them, and Rogue grabbed the Scepter from his back before firing beams at the enemies.

"Marvelous!"

Enrique gave her a sidelong look, making sure her current self didn't plan to do anything funny with the Scepter. He turned back and destroyed a few enemies himself with his [Heat Vision].

"We have to close that portal."

Enrique pointed his chin at the sky, Rogue followed her eyes and saw the portal that connected the Chitauri Army's ship far in the galaxy, to the skies of Manhattan.

"These enemies can never be beaten otherwise, they're like an endless swarm. We will get tired, but they will continue coming."

Enrique had to pause his explanation because a fiery figure blitzed past them in the air. He blinked and turned his head to follow.

"Huh? Was that Magma?"

"No, it's… Human Torch. From Fantastic Four."

Enrique answered Rogue. It wasn't news to him, having spent a few months in this new world by now, he knew The Fantastic Four existed here too.

This made him question some things though. If one of the Fantastic Four was here, where were the others? He wasn't just talking about the other three members, but other Supes too. The X-Men for example, what the fuck were they up to?

With their teleporting powers, they could have come here and helped in the battle quite easily. Yet they were nowhere to be found. What was Charles Xavier thinking?

"Looks like Human Torch is taking care of everything. We can just close the portal."

In the entirety of the Marvel Universe, Phoenix Force is undoubtedly the strongest fire-type existence. Though that's only true in its true form. It was Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch who was the strongest pyro existence, after the Phoenix.

'I wonder… how strong will Rogue grow if I sacrifice Human Torch to her?'

Enrique had a wild idea as he moved through the sky that was cleared now, unsure if he would stick with the idea or just move on.

****

Soon, Enrique reached the rooftop of the Stark Tower. Unsurprisingly, the scientist Erik Selvig was present there, with Black Widow by his side. Enrique dropped to his feet and let Rogue down as well.

"You two! I've been waiting for you."

Black Widow sped up to them, she tried to look calm but she was a little shaken. She looked at the Scepter in Rogue's hand.

"I need that. We need to close the portal, and that thing is necessary for it."

"Yes, we already know that. Rogue, do it."

Black Widow was about to say something, but she shut up when Rogue's eyes met with her. Natasha blinked as her hands came close to her gun. She got a sense of Déjà vu as if those eyes had stared at her before.

Rogue walked over to the shield bubble that was around the machine that shot energy up at the sky, opening the portal. The shield was an impenetrable defense, nothing could go through it, and therefore the energy beam behind it couldn't be closed either.

However, with the Scepter, it was possible. One just had to push it in and the energy beam would break and therefore the portal would close.

"Hey, hey~"

A thin voice rang from Black Widow's earpiece, that Enrique barely heard. He turned to her, as Black Widow rushed to Rogue who slammed the Scepter into the bubble.

"Stop!"

It was like pushing a pencil through an eraser, it was slowly moving in, and Black Widow's shout stopped Rogue from pushing in further.

"There's a nuke on the way. Ironman is sending it through the portal to hit the ship outside. Don't close the portal before that, otherwise, we are going to die."

Rogue looked at Enrique instead of answering herself. He gave her a nod.

 "Do as she says."

Rogue shrugged her shoulders and stopped pushing the Scepter forward. All of them turned their heads to look afar, where Ironman was rushing towards the portal with a missile on his back.

Enrique watched the scenario sharply. This was the point that marked the beginning of the Avengers, it's what made their bond strong.

For a moment, he wished to go and take the missile from Tony. But he held back the urge, it was dangerous. He didn't know if he could even survive in outer space, along with the possibility that they might close the portal on him as he may be not as lucky as Tony.

As they watched the scene, Human Torch rushed towards Tony.

"Huh, what is he doing?"

"...I think I know."

Rogue asked as Black Widow replied in a grim voice. She tapped her earpiece and spoke.

"Stark, the Human Torch may have mistaken you for trying to blow the city with the nuke. He is heading to confront you, not good. The nuke might react to his fire and blow the city to blisters."

Enrique heard a "Goddammit" come from the earpiece, while he was on the move already.

No way was he going to die today and for such a stupid reason too.

Shooting through the sky at his top speed, flying by skyscrapers, while the sky was filled with gunshots from the Chitauri, Enrique reached the fiery man right before he could stop Ironman.

"You there!"

Enrique moved and grabbed the fiery man. His suit protected him from the flames, but he could still feel great heat from it.

The human torch tried to escape Enrique's grip. But, Enrique held on and threw the human torch towards the ground with his full power. That sent him flying out of Ironman's way, he continued his flight forward.

While Ironman rushed towards his Stark Tower, and then took a swift turn up, heading towards the portal in the sky, Enrique was suddenly confronting an angry Human Torch.

"C'mon man, what're you doing?! Stark is trying to-"

Human Torch was yelling when he watched Tony rush into the portal.

"Huh?"

"It's his plan. You didn't know since you don't have an earpiece, so I don't blame you. The Government sent the Nuke at us, and Stark is sending it to the enemies. He's saving us."

"Oh."

Enrique explained and the young hero rubbed the back of his head.

"My bad, my bad. Haha, thanks for stopping me then. Ah, I hit the ground pretty hard. Can I punch you back at least?"

"Well, you can try."

Enrique shrugged his arms and said. Contrary to his joke, Torch took it as a genuine invite. He blasted his feet into the sky and rushed at Enrique, who was nearly caught off guard.

A punch came flying at his face, and he barely had any time to dodge. Still, he did manage to dodge it.

"Awwh, I missed it."

"Yeah, too bad."

Enrique pushed him back a little and said. Human Torch took his defeat with a shake of his head.

As the two were there, they heard the sound of glass cracking. Their heads turned to the high sky as they saw the portal closing. The crack in the space closed itself with the sound of cracking glasses.

Enrique shot a long look at the top of the Stark Tower, where Anna was pushing the Scepter into the bubble. Black Widow wore an expression of expectancy and regret as she stared up at the closing portal.

Enrique looked back up too.

'I wonder what will happen if Ironman doesn't make it this time.'

He wondered how much the timeline would change. Sadly, instead of a fleeting thought, this was a genuine concern as he stared up at the sky. It would be problematic if Ironman didn't make it.

There was a high chance he may not, too. Because this time it was Rogue who closed the portal instead of Black Widow. Along with all the other variables.

He stared expectantly, as the portal closed with just a black dot remaining.

"He didn't make it, huh…"

The Human Torch sounded grim.

Enrique frowned, worried about this timeline. Then a red dot fell through the closing portal, no bigger than a small tire. Ironman. Had made it just as the black dot disappeared out of existence.

"No, he did."

Enrique grinned and shot through the sky. He caught Ironman in his arms, as the man wasn't even awake, and flew down.

Enrique landed near the Avengers, who were gathered in the streets except for Black Widow. He dropped Ironman there, as everyone gathered.

"Is he…"

"Stark!"

Hawkeye trailed off while Captain America crouched down. He grabbed Ironman's face mask and yanked it off, throwing it far.

"Gaaahhh!"

Tonyy Stark gasped out right away, taking big breaths and looking around in a hectic manner.

"Uh, ah, did anyone kiss me?"

"...."

"Did we win?"

The Avengers looked at one another, shooting glances at Enrique too, as slowly they all smiled and pointed at the sky where the portal once existed.

All the Chitauri remaining here had died off, disconnected from the ship. They just dropped dead. So yes.

They have won the war.

X-x-X

Enrique flew off from the gathered Avengers, not a minute after Ironman woke up. He didn't want to associate himself with them, he surely didn't want the media to assume he was an Avenger.

Shooting through the air, he noted that Human Torch was busy helping a bunch of pretty ladies; who seemed to be a part of some cheerleading group, based on their outfits. They got caught in this incident while running to their game. It didn't seem like the living sun would be doing anything else in the meantime.

Next, he noticed Magma, who was panting for air while her surroundings were something akin to hell. Everything around her was burned, melted, and turned to charcoal in a circular motion. She had stopped her power now that the Chitauri had gone inactive, their cyborg bodies falling to their faces. Her skin returned to normal, and she found herself naked, forced to cover her privates with her hands.

"Hello there,"

Enrique shot down from the sky, stopping just an inch from the ground as he floated. The teenager flinched, covering herself more, by tightening her arms around her, not realizing that doing so was just emphasizing her curves more. Admittedly, those weren't teenager curves.

"Oh, how shy of you."

Enrique closed his eyes. There was no reason to make his best performer uncomfortable. He grabbed his cape and tossed it toward her. With his eyes closed, the cape moved on its own to wrap around her body, giving her the look of a robe-wearing goddess.

Opening his eyes, he noted she still looked hot. Tight robes weren't the best thing to wear to hide curves. Still, she was used to wearing tight stuff, all that mattered to her was that she wasn't naked, so she heaved a sigh of relief and nodded in thanks.

"You ended up destroying the million-dollar suit, in the end. Good for you, at least you seemed to have enjoyed massacring those alien bastards."

Hearing that, Magma seemed to blush a little, though Enrique couldn't be sure since her skin was still orange, it needed some time to cool off. She probably hoped nobody saw her rampaging earlier.

"Come here,"

Enrique suddenly spread his arms. Magma blinked. Adrenaline was going off in her body, her mind was a little blank, she walked over, wondering what he wanted before he wrapped his hands around her waist and shot off towards the sky.

Magma's eyes trembled as she felt his strong arms around her barely covered waist.

"M-Mister Enrique! I can walk on my own-!"

She yelled, and in response, he pointed beneath, where she saw a few people recording with their phones, she was confused for a moment before she understood. Even if covered, her body still attracted too many eyes, people would for sure make weird things with the clips of her running with her chest swaying back and forth along with the robe. So he had saved her.

The problem was,

"But now people saw you grabbing me like this…"

Magma complained, her tone a little annoyed but docile, before she sighed in the end. With a shake of her head, she stayed stiff in his grip and wished this would be over soon.

Oh, and it didn't help that her still-hot skin was too sensitive for any of this.

…..

One person who Enrique barely kept up with, was Tigra. She was fine he knew based on her report, but he didn't have the chance to witness her in action.

He wasn't worried at all, of course, as she was someone who could lift tons, with the addition of claws that could cleave through metal with ease. These Chitauri were of no danger to her strength, durability, and agility. She was a beast for sure who had left a trail of defeated enemies behind like a river.

Enrique spotted her laying on an open staircase, catching her breath, while the few light wounds on her body were slowly healing. He dropped up to an inch over her face, looking down at her with a smile.

"Rested enough?"

"Not yet, come back later."

"Have no time for that, you can come rest on my arms."

With a yank of her hand, he pulled her towards him, which she compiled with a giggle before she made herself comfortable in his left hand. At the same time, his right was holding Magma, who was growing increasingly red, except this time it wasn't her power at work.

…..

After that, Enrique spent a minute looking for Black Cat and Spider-Man. He was a little surprised when he found them surrounded by a pack of hungry reporters.

Police had reached here, Firefighters too, busy handling the aftermath and providing rescue to anybody who needed it. With them, annoying reporters were here as well; Peter and Felicia seemed to have been caught in the storm of attention, with cameras and mics focused on them from all directions.

Enrique had noticed Spider-Man before. He was a little worried about the safety of the teenager under the mask, but ultimately Spider-Man was a lot stronger than people gave him credit for. He had defeated the X-Men, the Hulk, and even the Avengers as well in comic books before. If he went all out and stopped goofing around, he was a force to be reckoned with.

As for Felicia Hardy – the Black-Cat looked annoyed at someone other than the reporters, and it was himself if Enrique had to guess. It was her fault that she came here to begin with, but secondly, it was his fault that she got stuck with the survivors, having to rescue them, and getting all that caught on camera.

Enrique decided to help them out for once. Dropping inside the circle of reporters, right beside Spider-Man and Black-Cat, he put the two girls on his arms down too. A few reporters' cameras focused on Tigra and Magma, while most focused on himself.

Enrique looked annoyed. "We just saved the city, and since we aren't robots, we are tired. Both mentally and physically. Stop bothering us. Leave."

He gave them a stern look, but when most of the reporters didn't turn off their cameras, he sighed and bought his hands before his face. He clapped his hands, and a discharge of electricity caused the cameras and mic to start smoking.

"Eek-!"

The humans yelped and scattered a few steps backward, most frightened but a few annoyed at losing such expensive gears. Enrique ignored them and focused on Peter, patting him on the shoulder.

"You did well, thanks for the help."

"Uh… any time, haha."

Peter smiled under his mask, rubbing the back of his head.

"You too, bad kitty."

Enrique shot Black Cat a look, watching her narrow her eyes and glare at him, putting her hands on her waist.

Enrique ignored it. He grabbed Tigra and Magma again and was about to take off.

"You two should head back."

Peter said a cheerful 'bye!' but the white-haired girl had more to say.

"Hey, take me with you! Give me a lift, I am injured."

She yelled and pointed at her right leg's calves. Indeed, it was injured, she was bleeding. Enrique stared at her, wondering what to do before he sighed.

"Hop on."

He was slightly surprised when she happily jumped, taking a position between the two girls, hanging from his neck, her body pressed tightly against him.

The reporters, Peter included, looked a little jealous at the display. With three bombshells of girls hanging from his body, it was a juicy scene indeed.

Not wasting any more time, Enrique took off for real and in the back of his ear he heard Peter swinging away too, freed from the devious reporters.

…..

He had spotted Rogue earlier, so it didn't take him time to find her again. He landed before her, watching her give him a peculiar look as she looked at the weight he was carrying.

"Uh… backpack ride?"

He gestured to his back, noting there was no other space to occupy. Shaking her head, she jumped on his back and gestured. She put his arms around his neck, from behind, causing her arms to touch Black-Cat's, while her face too faced hers.

"Hi~"

The naughty cat gave her a vixen-like smile, to which the newly enthroned divinity smiled back, a little more malicious than usual.

Geared up, with the addition of a stray cat, Enrique shot through the air and rushed towards his home. The one he was 'gifted' by Emma Frost, not far from here, as he appeared on the rooftop, and casually dropped them in the large swimming pool on the roof.

They needed a good, lovely bath. This happened to do the work.
