Meet Me By The Coastline
A lone door stood there, in the middle of an abandoned park flooded with liquid aether. The park itself was surrounded by an equally abandoned train station although oddly enough, the tracks only continued in a continuous circle around the small park.
Evie stepped forward… This was it, the day she finally stepped beyond the door. The others had already gone, leaving her behind. She could feel the cold aether seeping into her shoes and absorbing into her very skin. It wouldn’t be much longer before it would turn her body into one of the aetheric that wander mindlessly beyond the walls of the station. She took a deep breath and walked to the door grabbing the handle hesitantly.
There was no reason for her to stay on Earth. Looking to the sky she could already see the IPDS [Intergalactic Planetary Defense Squad] ships flooding in on the anomaly to destroy it. But Evie hadn’t flown all the way to Japan to see her escape taken away.
She would have loved, at that moment, to run back to L.A. and see her mother again, live a normal life with her family. But in the eyes of the IPDS, she already knew too much. Just stepping foot into one of their bases had sealed her fate.
So she took a breath, opened the door, and stepped through. Hoping- no- praying, that she’d find hope beyond the threshold.
