Monster Grimoire

𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞: This will be a monster list for readers to refer to. I base all of my monsters off of mythologies found around the world, but sometimes I do change them slightly. This list has the descriptions of how the animals are in my world. I will put them in alphabetical order so it is easy to find the monster you are looking for.

𝘈𝘭𝘬𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘴𝘵 (Alkonost): This is like a siren, but lays eggs on the beach and rolls it into the ocean to hatch. When the eggs hatch, a terrible thunderstorm happens and it is impossible for ships to sail. There is also a calm of 7 days while the eggs mature. They have a song that causes those who hear it, to become mesmerized by their enchanting voices. They have the head of a woman and body of a bird. Loud sounds can deter this creature.

𝘈𝘴𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘨 (Aswang): This is a creature that are shape-shifting creatures that look like people. They prefer to eat children and when they are not taking a human form, they are thin enough to hide behind a sword. They are fast and silent and can only be killed by decapitation.

𝘉𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘬𝘰 (Bakeneko): A cat that can walk without making a sound and speak human language. They can transform into humans if they want to.

𝘉𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘬 (Basilisk): A creature that can cause death if one looks in their eyes.

𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦 𝘛𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘳 (𝘔𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘳 (Blue Tiger)): This is a rare coloration of a tiger, where the fur is a royal blue color.

𝘊𝘩𝘶𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘢𝘣𝘳𝘢 (Chupacabra): This is a monster that attacks and drinks the blood of livestock. They are reptile-like creatures that have scaly greenish-gray skin and sharp spines running down their back.

𝘋𝘳𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢 (Drakaina): These are female dragons/serpents that sometimes have humanoid features.

𝘎𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘴𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨 (Grootslang): These are huge elephant-like creatures with a serpent's tail. They covet gems, particularly diamonds. They have tremendous strength, are cunning, and intelligent.

𝘏𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 (Hell Hound): A black dog-like creature that comes out of the demon world. It finds it's way across dimensions through graveyards. Looking into their eyes and hearing their howl can cause death.

𝘏𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘺𝘱𝘩/𝘏𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘧𝘧 (Hippogryph/Hippogriff): These creatures have the front half of an eagle and the back half of a horse. Often used as mounts.

𝘑ö𝘳𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘳 (Jormungandr): A serpent that swims through the deep snows of the North. They are attracted to the smell of blood, particularly the blood of an ox. Their blood can be made into the poison called eitr or the antidote for eitr, depending on how it is harvested. One drop of their blood is deadly.

𝘒𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘪𝘦 (Kelpie): A shapeshifter that has a horse's shape but can also take a human form. They are usually male. Live in lakes, streams, rivers. They can give up their watery horse form to be completely human.

𝘒𝘳𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘯 (Kraken): A large sea monster of gigantic proportions. It has tentacles and arms (A tentacle is club-shaped at the tip and only has suckers at the tip of the limb. An arm has suckers all the way up and is not club-shaped. )

𝘓𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘢 (Lamia): They have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a snake. They and are usually female and can project their consciousness to travel through the spiritual and magical planes.

𝘙𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘫𝘶 (Ramidreju): These are weasel-like creatures that have greenish fur. They have fur that are known for their healing properties.

𝘚𝘦𝘭𝘬𝘪𝘦 (Selkie): A shape-changer who can transform into a seal by dawning their seal fur. May also take on a human form.

𝘚𝘻é𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘻𝘰𝘯𝘺 (Szépasszony): This is a spirit/elemental creature that comes with a Cumulonimbus cloud. The cloud holds many of these spirits that take the form of a beautiful woman with long hair and a white dress. They sing and lure men to the sides in order to toss them overboard to their deaths.

𝘞𝘰𝘭𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳 (Wolpertinger): Looks like a small rabbit with horns and bird wings. It has fangs and is sentient. Used as pets or familiars.

𝘞𝘺𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯 (Wyvern): A dragon-like creature that cannot talk. It is sentient and can perform magical attacks and fly. They molt their scales whenever they grow. Like dragons, they can live forever as long as they are not killed.
