Chapter 7: Goodbyes are Always the Hardest

Cecilia's POV

My legs took me very quick through the bush path to my father's big mansion in the Pack. I stared at the vast building and wondered how lovely it would have be to have lived there as the only daughter of the Alpha of the pack.; respected and served.

My wolf nudged and reminded me that I might get to live in such building soon, and as a Luna again. It was a feeling and I smiled.

I got to the back door of the throne room, through the hidden path that my father had created for me. This was done to ensure that no one sees me whenever I needed to come visit my father, but I never used it because I had been ordered into seclusion for years.

Now it was time to use it and it might be the last. I stood behind the door and placed my ear close to it, to listen in. I wanted to be sure there were no elders or guests in there with him before I walking in, so I do not implicate him.

My ears caught a sound, that developed into even louder sounds. Then I heard my father's calm voice above it all.

"Please settle down. Let us take this issue with soft hands, so we do not knead it into something even more difficult." My father's kind and wise words came.

It sounded like there was some kind of disagreement amongst the elders and my father, and I was worried what it might be. Was it because of me?

I listened in again to be sure I had not already implicated him, then I heard their voices.

"We cannot sit with folded paws and let the Noble Scar Pack take over our rightful duty as the eye of the Moon Goddess." one elder stated.

"No one is taking any one's duty, all we want is to move the sacrificial part of the festivity from the Eagle Eye Pack to our pack. It has been held by your pack for way too long." Another one added.

"Let us not anger the Moon Goddess with such petty arguments. Roles were duly assigned to the Alphas before us, and we cannot afford to work together to tarnish it. We need to build it even stronger." My father said.

I realized it was not a meeting with the elders, but instead it was a meeting with the Alphas of the Packs in the region.

It was the time of the year when all Packs came together to give the yearly sacrifice to the Moon Goddess to show gratitude for continuous protection and growth.

There were four Packs in the region; The Red moon Pack which was my father's pack, Eagle Eye Pack, Moonlight Crescent Pack and Noble Scar Pack.

Each Pack had roles to play in the festival, but it seemed like the Noble Scar Pack wanted to override the Eagle Eye Pack in their assigned duties.

The arguments went on and on for minutes, until my father called off the meeting and each Alpha trodden off in anger.

When I was sure they were all gone, I turned the knob of the back door and let myself in. I met my father sitting on the Alpha throne in the throne room, brooding to himself.

"Is everything alright?" I asked him, as I stood by his side and caressed his shoulders.

He stared up at me, and smiled on seeing me. It seemed like all his worries flew aside immediately he looked up.

"Ohh, Cecilia. It is so good to see you again, I almost felt like I would not see you again when you left."

I chuckled at his exaggeration and gave him a brief hug before staring into his eyes again. I was not sure how to tell him about my leaving the pack, he would most certainly not be prepared to hear it yet.

And with everything he had been dealing with when I came, I was sure he had enough on his mind.

"What was the meeting about? I over heard shouting and serious arguments, what is the problem with the festival?" I asked to get my mind off what I had to tell him for a while.

He smiled and stared into thin air before replying; "I fear there might be a war in the region soon."

"Why do you say so?"

"The Packs, they have all gone angry. Each wanting to over ride the other, there is not peace amongst them any longer." He explained.

"It will be fine, I am sure."

"How Cecilia? I do not know what to do, or how to go about fixing it. What do I say to them? What decision do I make? How do I do it?" He was worried, I could see it in his eyes.

"Do not worry too much about all these unanswered questions yet, father. Take it one at a time, from the least important to the most important. The Moon Goddess will surely provide answers." I gave his hand a tight squeeze and smiled.

"Thank you, that is really all the assurance I need." He said and asked for another brief hug.

I was running out of time, and I knew I had to tell him about my leaving immediately.

"Father, I do have something to say to you though." I started.

"What is it?"

"I am leaving Redmoon Pack today, and I will follow Alpha Denver, my mate, to the Eagle Eyes pack," I had finally said it.

His face did not show any expression of hurt or pain, instead he gave a bright smile.

"I am happy to hear that, at least now you get to be free. I will miss having close to me, but you will not be too far away of course." His words were soothing.

I gave him a third hug, but it was a long and comforting one, before I left the throne room for my hut again.

That was where I would meet with Alpha Denver, and we would begin our journey to his pack.
