"Pardon the inconvenience, Eugene onii-chan," Ravel said sarcastically, waving the small fan in her hand. "It must be hard to take care of a stray cat like her with you."
Koneko, feeling offended, immediately growled sharply at Ravel. "Onii-chan doesn't need another grilled chicken," she retorted in a sharp tone.
Eugene, who was in the middle of the tension, felt awkward and didn't know what to do. However, before he could try to calm the two down, a sudden pain shot through his body. "Ugh~..." he moaned softly, enough to attract Ravel and Lily's attention.
Lily, ever vigilant, reacted immediately. "Eugene, you need to rest immediately!" she exclaimed in a worried tone, realizing that Eugene's condition could worsen if not treated immediately.
However, Ravel, with the grace of a nobleman, shook his fan and hid his mouth behind the fan as he spoke. "Perhaps this will help, onii-chan," she said, handing Eugene a small box.
Lily swiftly picked up the box and opened it. Inside was a small glass bottle containing a few drops of sparkling liquid.
"This?..." asked Lily, her eyes widening slightly.
"Yes, that is the Phoenix Tear, the pride of the Phenex clan. With that potion, Eugene does not need intensive care," Ravel replied with a graceful smile.
Eugene glanced at the small bottle, a faint smile gracing his face. "Thank you, Ravel. I really appreciate this," he said sincerely.
Eugene's words and charming smile made Ravel's face flush. She had to fan herself harder. "Hohoho~... No problem, I'm happy to help. Not like a stray cat who always asks to be coddled," Ravel quipped again.
Koneko, who could no longer stand Ravel's sarcasm, growled angrily like a cat ready to pounce. The atmosphere was getting tense, and Eugene knew that he had to act immediately to prevent the situation from getting worse.
Quickly, Eugene tried to calm the situation. "That's it, that's it. You two, we're all here as friends. There's no need for this kind of tension," he said, while trying to smile despite still feeling the pain in his body.
Lily took out the Phoenix Tear potion from the bottle and gave it to Eugene. "Drink this, Eugene. I hope it helps," she said softly.
Eugene accepted the bottle and drank the potion. The effect was almost instantaneous, the pain subsided and his strength slowly returned. "Ahh... much better. Thank you, Ravel, and also Lily. You two have helped me a lot," he said, with a soothing smile.
...
After the event was over and the guests had mostly gone home, Eugene and his friends gathered in the courtyard near the building where the party took place. It was a quiet evening, but a sense of togetherness and relief was visible among them.
Rias, a little shyly, approached Eugene. "I... really thank you for your help, Eugene," she said with a slightly flushed face.
Rias's remark drew sharp attention from some of the other girls who also liked Eugene, making the atmosphere a little tense.
Eugene smiled casually and waved a hand. "Ah, that's just a small part of it. It's nothing to be concerned about, after all it's also profitable for me," he said kindly.
Diverting his attention, Eugene looked at the large man between them. "By the way, why are you here, Claius?" he asked curiously.
Claius, the man with the most striking height in the group, looked at Eugene with a bright, warming smile. "It's fine! It's just that it's more fun to see the boss fight up close than just through the screen!" he replied with a booming laugh.
Eugene chuckled at Claius' answer. "Oh, I see. Well, I'm glad you were able to enjoy the fight," he replied in a casual tone.
Then, they were visited by someone from the Gremory family. Zeoticus Gremory, Rias' father, approached them with steady steps. The red-haired man smiled with a look full of confidence and wisdom.
"I congratulate you on a wonderful victory, Eugene," he said with a friendly yet firm smile.
Eugene bowed slightly as a sign of respect. "Ah, yes, thank you, Lord Gremory," he replied politely.
Zeoticus waved his hand. "No need to be so formal with me, think of me as your friend, son," he said in a casual tone.
Eugene nodded, trying to relax. "Well... So, what did you want to talk to me about? There's no way you could have come to me alone like this for no reason," he asked in a more relaxed yet respectful tone.
Zeoticus glanced at Rias who still had a blush on her cheeks. "I was just thinking if I didn't expect that Eugene-san had an interest in my daughter," he said, his eyes shining with understanding.
Eugene looked very surprised by Zeoticus' words. His colleagues also looked surprised, except for Sirzechs who stood aside with his chest puffed out with pride.
'Eh... Since when?' Eugene thought, confused.
Rias, who heard her father's words, grew red in the face and lowered her head. Eugene tried to respond tactfully, though his heart was beating fast.
"Sir, there's a misunderstanding here. I have no interest in this female! I mean, I'm helping her because she's my friend, that's all. There is no other intent!" Eugene quickly dismissed Zeoticus' words, his voice sounding firm yet awkward.
Rias's facial expression changed drastically. From a flowery mood, it now turned into a torrential downpour. Her previously shining eyes now looked dim, as if her hopes had just collapsed in an instant.
Zeoticus looked at Eugene with raised eyebrows, not expecting such a reaction. "Ah, I see," he said in a flat tone, trying to hide his disappointment.
Akeno, who was standing not far away, covered her mouth with her hand, but could not help the laughter that escaped her lips. "Fufufu... Eugene, you really...," she said between giggles, her eyes glittering with pleasure.
Koneko, who was usually silent, just sighed at the situation. "Onii-chan, you should learn how to speak more carefully," she muttered while looking at Eugene with a flat gaze.
