Life in DxD After Becoming a Legend

After an unusual demise not tied to fate, our protagonist doesn't meet their end due to destiny, but rather because of an error by an entity known as ROB. As an apology, ROB reincarnates the protagonist to the last place they were seen before their death. Awakening in the world of DxD, a dreamland for men filled with rampant fan service, our protagonist realizes the dark underbelly of this supernatural modern world. Behind the veil of entertainment lies a realm where premature death isn't uncommon when certain entities go on rampages. Aware of the imminent danger, the protagonist seeks power to survive in this perilous world. However, the rules governing each universe differ, and ROB can only provide three useful things, albeit not the instant cheat advantages the protagonist hoped for. Endowed with the granted powers, the protagonist is transported to another world, inhabiting the body of Petra living in the same year amidst a great war. Now embodied in Petra's soul, our protagonist struggles to survive in this harsh world. But it's not merely survival they seek; it's also about transforming an ordinary existence into a colorful adventure, ultimately becoming a legend.

End of dispute

My heart pounded as the impact echoed through the air, the sound of metal meeting metal echoing through the night. Every muscle in my body tensed as I poured all my energy into the kick, matching the power of a comet hurtling through space. The katana wielded by the undead Fanatic, infused with terrifying dark power, met my attack head on.

The impact sent shockwaves outward, shaking the foundations of the surrounding landscape. In that moment, time seemed to stand still, the entire world holding its breath in anticipation of the outcome of our battle. Would I emerge victorious, freed from my father's shadow once and for all, or would Dolia's dark magic prove too difficult to overcome?

As our forces collided, I could feel the weight of destiny pressing down on me, urging me to go beyond the expectations placed upon me and forge my own path. With determination burning in my veins, I pushed myself to the limit, refusing to let fear or doubt stand in my way.

With a surge of adrenaline, I channeled all my strength into my next attack, unleashing a barrage of punches that danced through the air like lightning. Every move was precisely calculated, as I tried to find weaknesses in Dolia's defenses and use them to my advantage.

But Dolia was no ordinary opponent. With a sly smile, she countered every move, her dark magic weaving a web of shadows that threatened to entangle me at every turn and then there was the Fanatic Undead who spearheaded her attacking me with the swordsmanship of a master. However, despite the many obstacles that confronted me, I refused to waver.

With each attack, I could feel myself getting closer to winning... Honestly, if I had used magic from the start this fight wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes. But because of my ego which I had promised not to rely on magic and prove that I was superior to my father who was always revered as a genius by those around me.

"Tch, stubborn huh... Well, this is a golden opportunity for me to kill you since you won't use magic during this fight... Regret your big ego Eugene.." Dolia said as she cast her magic on her strongest undead which channeled her magic energy into the rust katana.

I did an arcobatic to keep a safe distance from the undead. This battle was the hardest battle I've ever had and the first time I was stubborn enough to use only martial arts against my enemy.

Various unpleasant thoughts appeared in my mind, people comparing myself to my father appeared briefly in my mind. At that moment, I couldn't help but feel emotion but smile, unconsciously smiling in this situation. My body stiffened, all my muscle fibers ached from the excessive use of aura. Right now, there was only one attack I could launch.

'Right... This one attack from us will be the end of this fight.' I thought.

While focusing I closed my eyes to feel every flow of energy coming in, imagining myself to be a glass vessel that was about to shatter under the weight of the large amount of water. In this state all I could do was briefly repair it so that my container would last for a moment when I pumped in large amounts of aura again.

The sensation was overwhelming, similar to the pressure one might feel at the bottom of the ocean, every inch of my body straining under the immense force. My consciousness was on the verge of oblivion, teetering between maintaining control and being swept away by the flow of power I was trying to harness. Opening my eyes felt like lifting a boulder, but I managed, focusing on the figure before me, Dolia, with her grin that seemed to mock my efforts.

At that moment, something changed within me. A spark of clarity pierced through the fog of exertion. I remembered the countless hours of practice, the pain, sweat, and determination that brought me here. This wasn't just about proving myself to my father or escaping his shadow; it was about asserting my own identity, my own power. I am Eugene, not only the son of a legendary magus, but also a formidable warrior.

With a deep, steady breath, I channeled the aura, not like a random flood, but with precision and control. The glass vessel of my imagination no longer felt like it was about to shatter but became forged steel, able to withstand the pressure and channel it to the focal point.

As I watched the sergeant's undead figure also smiled with that rotting face, as if he was also enjoying this. While Dolia also grinned as her power on her undead katana was enveloped by pitch black energy. And in that deep color appeared eyelids that looked at me.

"Damn you to hell, Eugene!" Dolia shouted.

"RAAAAAAH!!!" The Undead Sergeant shouted as well as he began to move his hand to slash vertically.

Ultimate Combo - Cursed land agony

The overflow of that great energy was directed towards me. Without avoiding it, I would take it all in and return it in multiples.

Aura Release - Calamity Horn

A punch enveloped in energy that formed a horn clashed with that dark energy. In that moment, there was a huge explosion, enveloping the battle area in blinding light. All that could be felt was a loud, ear-piercing vibration. And when the smoke and dust began to disperse, the result of our attack was revealed.

Dolia's existence seemed to be shattered, her body blown away by the force of the explosion, prostrated without strength. While the sergeant's undead had vanished, his dark energy was scattered into the air, leaving only an old beret thrown on the ground.

...

"Dolia's Point of View";

I lay limply with a body full of wounds staring at the night sky and listening to the waves of the sea crashing against the reef. This battle was already clear who would be the winner.

Eugene, I know that even without magic you still shine like you did back then. My darkness cannot fall on you and instead I am illuminated by that light. What a pity, when my dreams were only simple.

A house in the middle of an apple orchard, living together with the person I would love with all my heart. Then, where did I go wrong to get here?

I glanced in the direction where my ears heard someone's footsteps, with a little effort I moved my head to see Eugene's face where there was no satisfaction in his expression.

"Hey... What's that pathetic expression?"

Even though I teased her, she didn't budge as if she was lost in thought. In this heartbreaking state, she gave mixed exclamations that I couldn't understand.

"I don't understand at all... For me, you are the first person who didn't talk about my father even though you knew who I was. So, why does this heartbreaking feeling exist" Eugene muttered with a dark face.

In heavy eyelids I forced them wide open... 'Aaah~... That's right, I've walked so far that I forgot when to stop and rest'

"Se...if, we met again would it still be the same?" My voice started to get heavy and broken as my body started to decompose into ashes because the magic core that I used as my heart catalyst was destroyed.

I can see that the corners of her eyes are watering. Yes, you are crying over me who has committed various heinous deeds just for my selfish purposes. It's strange, but it's a feeling I can relate to.

"Yes..." Biting his lip, Eugene looked at me with an expression that was a relief to see. "Goodbye, Teacher."

Before I could completely disintegrate into dust, I had to respond to his words by simply moving my lips, as he could read the meaning. "Yes, goodbye stupid student." The corners of his mouth twitched in a meaningful smile, the lines around his eyes deepening as he looked at me with a mixture of amusement and pride. His voice contained a hint of mockery, but also respect for my determination and hard work. As I watched him walk away, I couldn't help but feel grateful for his guidance and support. Our journey together may have ended, but the memories and lessons he gave me will stay with me forever.
