Jeni knew that simply fainting won't get her out of this when she saw Taehyung staring at her with amusement in his eyes. So she switched to a different tactic.
"Tae-Tae, Jeni doesn't want to stay with Uncle Chim," Jeni said with teary eyes very similar to the ones Taehyung had earlier.
"Tough," Taehyung said with a raised brow. "Something came up at the gallery so I may not be able to come home some nights." He explained.
Jeni was a smart toddler but even so, somethings made no sense to her. "Then why can't Jeni stay at Ms. Mary's house for bedtime?" Jeni questioned. To her it was simple, Ms. Mary doesn't do much at home anyway so she could watch her during the day and at bedtime.
But in reality, it wasn't that simple. Although Ms. Mart was an old lady it wasn't like she did nothing all day. Taehyung had no idea what she does with her time, but he knows for sure that it exhausts her.
"Princess that isn't fair to Ms. Mary. I don't know what she does but she does have her own things to do aside from watching over you." Taehyung said.
Jeni pouted at his words. "No Ms. Mary said that Jeni is her darling. That means she would LOVE to put her things aside to watch Jeni."
"Princess it's not good to have that sort of inconsiderate self-important attitude." Taehyung corrected her. Jeni didn't know exactly what those words her said meant but Jeni was pretty sure that she was getting scolded.
"Tae-Tae are you scolding Jeni?" She asked for confirmation. Her big eyes showing hints of being wronged.
"Yes, Tae-Tae is scolding Jeni." Taehyung nodded seriously as he spoke in the third person like Jeni.
"It's not good for Jeni to think only of herself when it comes to dealing with other people. Ms. Mary may love you a lot but she doesn't have to watch over you if she doesn't want too." Taehyung felt the need to correct Jeni's mindset before it firmly took root in her little head.
Jeni had confusion written all over her cute little face and tried to speak. "Tae-Tae Jeni doesn't really understand. Does that mean-" She was cut off when Ms. Mary entered the living room.
"Ah, Taehyung you're still here aren't you going to be late for work?" Ms. Mary inquired.
Taehyung looked at the watch on his wrist and sighed. 'There really isn't enough time to continue educating her on this matter.' He gave Jeni a loving look and said, "We'll finish talking later okay princess?"
"Ok Tae-Tae, Jeni will behave well." Jeni lifted her small chubby hand and did a salute trying to look stern like the soldiers on television. But she didn't know that her actions were seen as adorable in Taehyung and Ms. Mary's eyes.
Taehyung gave Jeni a kiss on her forehead and muttered, "Love you" in her ears.
"Love you too Tae-Tae," Jeni whispered back with a smile.
Ms. Mary was turned into a third-wheel as they whispered sweet goodbyes to each other. She could only think to herself, ' Ahh, these two are more romantic than those K-dramas. Wait, this is a picture moment where is my camera?' She quickly took out her phone and snapped a photo.
Taehyung said goodbye to Ms.Mary and left their complex. Taehyung had no car so he walked to the bus station and waited a bit for the bus to arrive. It was nine-fifteen when he left Ms. Mary's place. His appointment was at nine forty-five. He felt that he would be able to get there on time.
There was an important client coming to the art gallery that Taehyung owns. The client showed an interest in one of the most expensive paintings in there. So Taehyung has been trying his best to make all the transitions as smooth as possible. He didn't know the identity of the client since they used an alias on the paperwork and had a middleman do all the talking.
So this would be Taehyung's first time actually meeting the client.
"Honk!"
The bus arrived. There weren't many people at the bus stop, so Taehyung didn't have to be courteous to anyone and directly chose a seat by the front. He pulled out his phone and opened up his camera roll. He clicked on a recent picture of Jeni.
' It hasn't even been an hour but I miss her,' He thought to himself. He looked at the picture and proceeded to commit her expression to memory. This was Taehyung's work routine.
It sounds weird but it is what gets him through the day without worrying about her safety. He looked at Jeni and paid special attention to the specs of green in her brown eyes.
Taehyung only began to pay attention to his surroundings when he felt the bus come to a stop. 'What's going on, this is a one-stop bus from my complex. And that stop is at the Central Plaza.' Taehyung felt wary as he saw more people boarding the bus. He looked at the bus driver and saw that it wasn't the normal one who drives this bus. The normal driver was called George. He knows because he and George would talk frequently about their daughters.
Taehyung looked back at his phone and became increasingly aware of the gazes on him. He took quick short glances at the people who had just boarded the bus. 'These are the feds.' He concluded from his observations.
Taehyung knew that he couldn't make any rash moves and decided to test the waters by shifting a little. The moment he did the atmosphere got tense. Taehyung felt like an ant under a microscope. They were watching his every move. ' Well, now I know they aren't friendly. But why are they after me? Is it only me?' He wondered.
'Jeni.'
Taehyung was afraid that they went for his daughter and tried to text Jeni. He saw that the service was cut off. He had alternatives but he didn't want to expose anything. He glimpsed outside through the window and saw that they were truly on their way to the plaza. 'Alright staying like this will get me nowhere let's see what they want from me.'
"Ahem."
Taehyung started by clearing his throat.
"Fellas if you want to stare take a picture it'll last longer."
"..."
After Taehyung spoke the bus went silent. Even the sounds of the bus moving faded away. The people were either confused or appalled at what Taehyung said.
"I know that I'm good looking, but don't you know it's rude to stare?" Taehyung continued.
"..."
Taehyung let out a sigh seeing the lack of reactions around him. 'Man, these guys are so professional. Nothing like what the movies show."
"Listen I know you folks took the time out of your day to come watch me ride that bus for a reason. I'd like to know why." Taehyung kept talking to these people on the bus even though they wouldn't respond.
"Damnit why do you talk so much." One of the passengers couldn't take it anymore and exclaim, much to Taehyung's delight. That passenger was the closest to Taehyung and felt as if his ears were going to fall off.
"Oh, so one of you could speak. I thought that you would continue pretending to be deaf and mute." Teahyung turned to the man close to him and said.
