It Will Always Be You
She held his hand as he closed his eyes gently. Lying beside each other, both of their bodies are starting to tremble as the cold slowly crept through their skin.
They've always loved winters. Tears welled through her eyes as she remembers those cold nights. Both of them wrapped in hand knitted sweaters she made for their 50th wedding anniversary 10 years ago. Sitting in their favorite sofa by the fireplace and sipping hot chocolate, she always wondered what good things could she have done in her past life to deserve such a meaningful marriage.
She slowly shifted to look at her husband's tranquil face. He is old yet still as handsome as the first time she met him many years ago.
Her heart felt heavy and her arms felt weak, yet she still managed to hug him tight. She then whispered to him gently, "Rest well, my love."
As she started to succumb to exhaustion, the heaviness she earlier felt slowly faded away.
A smile crossed her face as her final thoughts played like a scene from a movie. She and Leo were on the dance floor, gently swaying with the music. He said, "I love you. And even in the next lifetime, it would still be you."
Her heart was at ease. She silently, ardently asked, "I pray to be with you once again. One more time. One last time."
