Chapter 6: Broken Heart's Club

Three Years Ago

Josie sat at the table in front of the grill of her favorite hibachi restaurant. She watched in delight and wonder as the chef performed and cooked for them, as well as another couple who shared the same table. She had always loved going there with Darren and it had proven to be a fun time for the couple. That night, something seemed different with her lover. Every time looked his way, he would smile, but there was a sense of melancholy surrounding him. No matter how she asked him, he reassured her that he was perfectly content, but was just a little tired from work. Try as Josie might, she wasn't able to shake that nagging feeling.

'Is he bored with me? Is there someone else?' Her mind tortured her on their awkwardly quiet ride back to her place. She noticed that he didn't even do his usual reaching out to hold her hand while he drove.

Josie waited until Darren stopped in front of her building before she finally spoke up.

"Just tired from work?"
