Chapter Six: Humble Abode

Ever's POV

After roughly half an hour of an awkward bike ride, we finally arrived at a small apartment complex, pulling into a garage attached to the building.

"home sweet home!" Jake yelled happily, pulling off his helmet and for the first time, I can see what he, and the rest of them look like.

Jake has like this, bad-boy next-door vibe. His hair is a light shade of brown– almost blonde and looks super fluffy and I'm trying to resist the urge to touch it, though I doubt I could reach anyways because, like Adrian, he is super tall too. His eyes were a unique shade of hazel blue, them being more blue than hazel. He also seems to be pretty toned as well, from the way his jacket stretched around his arms that were crossed over his chest.

He's a total player…  but he seems nice…

Next, I turned my attention to Jade as I watched her hop off her bike. Her long wavy ebony locks flowed down her back in streams as she took off her helmet, a few strands standing up here and there. Her eyes were a color I've never seen on any other living person, they look like the color of tea when the sun shines through the glass– a beautiful shade of amber. And when she smiled a small dimple would appear on the right side of her cheek.

She's freaking adorable… And absolutely Bri's type…

"Hey, are you gonna get off? Or do you need help?"

I flinched slightly as Adrian's husky voice snapped me out of my thoughts, successfully drawing my attention away from the two beautiful people next to us.

I hadn't even realized that my arms were still tightly wrapped around his waist, and let me tell you this man is jacked! Feeling embarrassed I quickly let go muttering a small 'sorry ', and using his shoulders to keep me steady, I carefully climbed off his bike.

"Oh shit!"

Well, this is embarrassing…

As soon as my feet were on the ground, my legs gave out on me and I fell on my ass. Both of the boys chuckled while Jade rushed over to help me stand asking if I was alright.

"Yeah I'm fine, I think my legs are just tired from walking for three hours straight. so when I finally got to sit down and rest, my legs apparently thought they were done for the day!" I laughed, throwing my arm over Jade's shoulder to keep myself upright– too scared that I might fall again otherwise.

"here– "

Before I could comprehend what was happening, I was lifted into the air as Adrian carried me bridal style toward the front of the apartment. To onlookers, it would probably seem like my 'boyfriend' was taking me home after a long day, but we all know that's not the case.

"thanks… " I smiled softly as a light blush covered my face when I instinctively snaked my arms around his neck.

He only nodded in response staring straight ahead with an unreadable expression on his face, though I did notice how the tips of his ears were also a light shade of red.

Cute…

Ignoring the looks Jade and Jake were giving us as we made our way up the stairs, I took this chance to get a good look at Adrian's face, and oh boy is he handsome!

His eyes and hair are a shade darker than his sisters, but just as equally beautiful as hers. The Way the hallway lights reflected in his eyes as we made our way down the corridor, made it look like he had small galaxy's in them, making it impossible to look away from.

"You have really pretty eyes, you know that?" I don't know why I said that, but I felt like I just had to tell him.

I'm glad I did too because I saw how his mouth twitched upwards for a second like he was trying not to smile. It made me smile as he grumbled a quick 'thanks' before setting me down in front of a door with the number and letter 29B nailed to it.

I honestly forgot about the other two until Jake yelled good night,  walking into the apartment two doors down on the opposite side of the hall, before sticking his head back out the door with a smirk and yelled-

"keep it, PG Adrian, I know she's pretty and all but–"

"Goodnight Jake!" Adrian groaned as he opened the door pushing Jade and me inside quickly, blocking out the rest of what Jake was trying to say.

I have no doubt in my mind that he was saying something inappropriate…

Their apartment was small, but it was cozy and felt more like home than my own house did. From where I stood in the doorway, to the right of me, you could see into both the living room and kitchen, the two rooms being separated by a small island counter. And to the left of me were three doors, I'm assuming at least two of those are bedrooms and one of them is the bathroom.

Man, I have to pee…

"Can I use your bathroom?" I asked shyly, shifting from one leg to the other, trying not to piss myself where I stood.

"Of course! you don't have to ask! It's the door in the middle. And when you're done, come sit on the couch and you can explain to us - in detail - everything that happened tonight… Sound good?"

Nodding my head in agreement, I bolted towards the door Jade pointed to, feeling so happy to finally be able to relieve myself.

When I finished I walked over to the couch where Jade was waiting. Adrian was in the kitchen and by the smell of it he was making instant ramen, the smell alone made my stomach growl loudly, making Jade chuckle.

"I thought you might be hungry so I asked my brother to make us some food," Jade said as she turned her body to face mine as we sat on opposite ends of the couch.

I was too hungry to even think about turning down free food, so I just nodded my head. While we waited for Adrian to finish with the food Jade and I talked a bit about ourselves and I told her about how I had helped my best friend discover that she was a lesbian.

" No way! You did that?! That's awesome! I wish I had a friend like you when I was trying to figure out my sexuality!" Jade gushed, laughing a bit at the end just as Adrian came in with our food, his brows furrowed in confusion.

"What's awesome?" he asked, nodding in response when I thanked him for the food, before sitting on the recliner in front of the couch and on the other side of the coffee table.

"Ever was just telling me about how she kissed her best friend to help her realize she was a lesbian! Isn't that cool!" She beamed, rushing over to pat her brother on the back as he choked on a noodle.

"Wait, you're a lesbian?" Adrian asked, looking at me confused. Considering I told them I was pregnant I could see where he got confused, especially since the way Jade phrased it made it seem that way.

"nonononono! My best friend is a lesbian, I kissed her to help her figure out that she was a lesbian back in the tenth grade!" I clarified, taking a big bite of my noodles.

I feel like this is missing something…

"Do you guys have any hot sauce?" realizing what was missing I looked at Adrian hoping that they had some for my noodles.

"Yeah, why? Do you want some?" he asked, rising from his chair when I nodded.

"You like spicy food? Is that even good for the baby?" grimacing as she watched me douse my noodles in the spicy liquid, Jade's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

"yes and it's fine, trust me I looked it up because I would die if I couldn't eat spicy food for 9 months." I hummed in contentment, doing a little happy dance when the delicious flavor of the now spicy noodles coated my tongue.

...…

After we finished eating, I washed the dishes, even though they told me I didn't have to. I only felt that it was right though, considering that they not only fed me, but they are also letting me stay the night until Bri can come get me in the morning.

Wait! Oh my gosh bri! I can't believe I almost forgot!

Again!...

Rushing back out to the living room, I grabbed my phone from my bag that I had set down on the couch earlier and pressed on Bri's contact. Both Jade and Adrian looked at me with raised eyebrows probably wondering why I am freaking out.

"Are you calling your friend?"

I was about to respond to Jade when a loud yell came from the other end of the line. It was Bri, and she was pissed.

On the phone

"EVER, WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU? YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE HOME AN HOUR AGO! DID SOMETHING HAPPEN WHEN YOU TOLD ENZO ABOUT THE BABY?!"

"I know I'm sorry! Don't worry I am safe, but I'm gonna need you to pick me up from the location I sent you, in the morning… "

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOUR SAFE? WHERE THE HELL IS ENZO? ISN'T HE WITH YOU?!"

Sitting back down on the couch, and taking a deep breath, I rubbed my forehead while my elbow rested on my knee. I'm starting to feel stressed all over again.

"Bri, I love you but could you please stop fucking yelling! I'll explain everything so I just need you to calm down. down."

I glared blankly at the floor, my mood changing completely from happy and giggly to numb and bitter as I replayed the events in my mind.

"Sorry… "

"It's okay but Bri, I'm gonna put you on speakerphone 'cause you're not the only one I have to explain this to Okay? And if you could please wait until I'm done before you ask questions that would be great…"

I could tell she was confused as to who I meant, but true to her word she stayed quiet until I was done explaining everything that happened. Well, omitting the parts where he threw me into the door and when I thought he was going to hit me, as well as the things he said just before he left.

I was a crying mess by the time I had finished, and by the sound of the sniffles I heard from the other end, Bri had been crying with me. Jade was too as she held me in her arms which I appreciated, especially at that moment. What I didn't expect to see, however, was Adrian with tears in his eyes. He looked pissed for sure, but more than anything he seemed just as hurt as I was.

Before I could do or say anything, Adrian stood up and walked into the bathroom slamming the door behind him causing me to jump a bit.

Still On the phone

"I am so sorry Ever! No one should have to go through that… I'm just glad that you're safe… "

"Yeah, well I wouldn't be if these three didn't pull over to see if I was okay… "

"That's very true! So thank you guys! I owe you one! "

"You don't owe us anything! But if you really feel like you have to, how about you let me take you on a date sometime!? "

"I laughed at Jade's boldness, and wasn't even surprised when Bri agreed to the date– no questions asked. "

"Okay well, I'm glad you're okay Ever… I'll see you in the morning if I'm not arrested for murder. I love you! "

"Okay, I love you too! Goodnight! And please don't murder anyone! "

"No promises! Night! "

End of phone call

Just as the call ended, Adrian walked out of the bathroom looking a lot calmer than before. He refused to look at me though, which made me question if my staying here really was a good idea, because I don't want to make them feel uncomfortable with my presence.

"Are you guys sure it's okay that I'm here?... I don't want you guys to feel uncomfortable, I mean this is your place so if me being here makes you guys uncomfortable then I–"

A hand covering my mouth stopped me from rambling my concerns ever further. In shock, I looked to see Jade giving me a stern glare that sent a shiver down my spine in fear.

"Ever, listen to me 'cause I'm only going to say this once, " her icy glare turned into a soft and sincere smile as her hand moved from my mouth to my hand giving it a light squeeze.

" You are more than welcome to stay here. You have gone through a lot in just one day and need to rest… And we are not uncomfortable with your presence, we've just never had anyone other than Jake stay over and that's only when he's had too much to drink."

I couldn't help but imagine what a drunk Jake must be like. He seems like the type who is very clingy when intoxicated and honestly that's adorable.

I wonder what Adrian is like when he's drunk…

"Now come on I'll let you borrow some clothes you can change into after your shower, though I don't think any of my shirts will fit…"

Motioning towards our chests, realized she was right. My chest was noticeably bigger than hers, so any shirt I put on of hers would probably just get stretched out or cut off my circulation.

"You can borrow one of my shirts– just grab something from the closet,"

Adrian was looking at me now, his obsidian eyes bore into mine, an expression I couldn't quite read flashed in them before he looked away seeming displeased with whatever he just thought about.

"I'll be back, I'm going to the garage to drop off my bike. I love you…"

I wondered why he was going to his garage so late, but didnt question it as it's none of my business.

Watching the sibling interaction warmed my heart, even when Jade smacked him in the back of the head for calling her munchkin, I couldn't help but smile. I felt a small ping of jealousy towards the two, never having siblings myself growing up was sort of lonely. I have Brianna sure, but it just wasn't the same.

The sound of a closing door drew me back out of my thoughts as Jade pulled me toward her room where she handed me some sweats before running to her brother's room to grab me a shirt.

Soon enough my day had ended the same way it started, crying alone in the steaming hot shower.

How am I supposed to do this…

If Enzo reacted this badly, I can only imagine what my parents were gonna think…
