KingsStreet: Ante Bellum

"Why you killed her, Vaterian! Where did your principal gone? You said you will never do it again!" Igor, shouting against me, looked at the body laying on the ground. Her blonde hair was covered with mud and water. Rain dropped on her armor, creating a clear and melodious singing. "Ilse!!!" As I recalled the past, the scream and shock could still be heard and felt even after 9 years. The Ink of the Judgement that exiled me 1 year ago remain warm and moist. "Run far away from the country." My father's advice is still being whispered in my ear. I turn around facing Igor, "Man always powered by something, dream, love, ambition. You always pushed by those wonders, My friend. but I only seek vengeance."

Post Hang-over

Vaterian opened his eyes, in his sight was the wooden ceiling, it didn't take much time for him to realize he was laying on the bed in his room. "Shouldn't drink so much, Argh." What made the situation even worst was the headache he suffered. He might not drink so much again, even though for Igor what Vaterian had drink was just a starter.

"Hey, you finally awake." Igor stood beside Vaterian, peeling an apple with a dagger, Vaterian recognized it belong to him. Igor noticed Vaterian staring at the dagger, he passed the dagger to Vaterian with its point toward Vaterian, "Here's your dagger, far sharper than mine, I would say."

"Pointing a dagger toward others was the first thing we learnt to not do when we study under the Meister, neither would you did it since I knew you. I thought you should be calmed down already." Vaterian took the dagger, wiped, and put it back to where it belonged, at this time he noticed his sword was gone.

"Your sword was hanging on the wall, don't worry about it, it won't run by itself as the Meister did." Igor pointed out where the sword was while mocking their tutor at the same time. "He also had his life, Igor. Don't blame him on his leave." Vaterian replied.

"Who brought me here yesterday? Sure, Viridiana alone won't be enough to bring me here." Asked Vaterian, despite he already had his answer. "Your best and most favourited friend, of course. You need to feel grateful about Viridiana's forgiveness. Otherwise, you will become another body buried under the basement."

Vaterian remembered what happened at the night, indeed he had been taken over by bad memory and ignored the danger around him. "You right, might need to be more careful last time." Vaterian hung his sword back to his waist. He already checked the sword; no liquid had left on it therefore no risk of rusting.

"The breakfast was already served, I just finished it, you might want to do the same." Igor take a bite of the apples, from his face Vaterian could guess that the apple was sour instead of sweet, which Igor never prefer. "If you hate it, give it to me. Never understand why you couldn't appreciate those food which left sourness in your mouth." Igor didn't think more than a second, he threw the apple to Vaterian.

"By the way, thank you for not letting me be embarrassed in front of others." Vaterian give his thanks to Igor before he took the bite of the apple, but Igor had another idea. "You need to thank Viridiana instead, she was the one who wanted to do that, I just woke up by the voice you made."

"Sure, I won't forget about it." Even Igor felt the depression from Vaterian, as a person who already knew him for years. Of course, he knew what happened. "You dreamed about that night again? I understood your sorrow on it but try to get over it."

Vaterian closed his eyes, the legs yet again appeared in front of him. "No, I will not be able to get over it before all the person involve in it paid its price." Igor sighed, he knew it isn't that easy to sway Vaterian, their life had been changed since the death of Ilse, and they never escaped its influence until their death called upon them.

"Morning Mister Alexandro, the owner had offered such a good breakfast today, I think you will also enjoy it." Vaterian gets greeted by Viridiana instantly after he came down, Vaterian knew she kept her promise and nod to her. "Greeting Miss Viridiana, I hope you enjoy our classic breakfast. It might not be eaten by the commoners, but I think you are also not willing to eat those awful dishes."

Vaterian greet Viridiana, and he turn his head toward the owner said nothing but just stare at him. "Mister, today breakfast was pancake with fruits and honey, did that suit your taste?" The owner obviously had brought the best ingredient from his stockpile, neither of the stuff was cheap. Bad for him the person he asked was Vaterian.

The owner bow toward Vaterian, because of it he didn't see the sudden change on Vaterian's face. "You just need to prepare me some Mettbrötchen, that should be enough. If you had some cheese and ham in your kitchen, it would be even better." Vaterian could feel the sweetness of the honey despite being far away from it, he maintained his calm and reject the offer, instead, he go for some more common option.

"Oh… yes sir!" The owner was surprised by Vaterian's request but still quickly responded to Vaterian's order by going into the kitchen. "Seems like he really afraid of you, Mister Alexandro." "He is not afraid of me, he is afraid of the Grand duke's Guillotine."

"Anyway, maybe you can keep some distance with me, Miss Viridiana? Knowing my real name didn't mean you had an absolute advantage over me." Viridiana leaning against Vaterian while whispering to him, Vaterian replied to her question and gently pushed her away.

"Mister Alexandro, you knew that rejecting a woman would make them doubt that you had some weird fetishes, right?" A smile climbs up to her face, the rest of the members from the caravan looking at Vaterian as he committed treason. The ones who do not see him as a potential enemy, saw him as a potential lover.

"Sad to say Miss Viridiana, even I held any interest in man, it won't be anyone. My friend, Einhaven had a rather open view on relationships, also he looked far better than I did. He would be happy to have some sausages as his dinner." Vaterian chose to drag the centre of the topic to his friend rather than him. Those who saw him as a threat, laugh. Those who saw him as an opportunity, grinned.

"Miss Viridiana, if you didn't mind about it how about we have a friendly walk around the city before the Opera started?" Vaterian made an invitation to Viridiana, she was shocked so does the rest of the people.

Vaterian didn't care about what happened after he went back up, neither did he care about Viridiana opinion, he will bring her anyway, the person already required him to do that.
