When I woke up, the sunlight seemed quite high as the whole room was bright. The chirping of the birds sounded melodious in my ears, and the fresh and fragrant aroma of the trees around the room wafted in. I looked at the beautiful ceiling with neatly arranged wooden roof frames. Sliding off my blanket, I tried to sit up, but my whole body tensed, my muscles tightened, and I experienced cramps that felt like every nerve was being pulled. Unconsciously, I screamed in pain and sat hugging my body, trying to breathe to calm the shrieks from every fiber of my being.
About three steps away, I saw Nadia wake up and immediately sit up to look at me. "Jaime, what's wrong?"
For a moment, I was stunned to see her waking up on her roll-up mattress, wearing the inn's kimono, and I felt like I was on cloud nine. Truly mesmerized by how beautiful she was, I momentarily forgot all the pain.
