Trial Member MA7336

'Are you tired of mundane life? Do you want to live in a world of magic and wonder? If yes, please say "Kontrakt autoriseret".'

Kearan stared at the strange message on his phone, trying to comprehend what he was reading as he rolled out of bed rubbing his bleary eyes.

"Kontrakt autoriseret, what the hell kind of pop-up is this?" Kearan yawned in an exaggerated fashion as he mashed his home button trying to get rid of the stupid ad. However, after repeated attempts, the text was still visible. "Damn junk" he cursed and went to reset the phone, when the text faded. A new message appeared before he could relish his victory against the evil pop-up ad. 'Thank you. Contract has been authorized. Initiating transfer request for trial member MA7336. You have 1 minute to say goodbye to any loved ones. The Department Of..' the message abruptly disappeared before finishing and a new line of text quickly replaced it.

'Review of member MA7336's background has revealed a complete lack of loved ones. Time issued for the final farewell revoked. Transfer initiated.' A surge of white hot rage surged through Kearans body at whoever was pulling this sick joke. "What the fu.." His tirade ended before it could begin as darkness instantly consumed his vision and he lost consciousness. Only an empty room with a disheveled bed remained.

.....

Kearan awoke to a sensation of weightlessness even though he felt no water, in fact he felt nothing. He tried feel his eyelids to open his eyes and when he did, he suddenly he felt the sensation of sight return only to see.. nothing. An endless void of all consuming darkness stretched across the entirety of his vision. He was slowly losing what little sensations he had and he realized he didn't even have a body. He seemed to be an orb of nothingness that for some reason could see and observe his surroundings. He tried to move but without the sensation of touch and the never changing void around him, he had no idea if he was actually moving. He tried to speak, smell, breathe, anything, but nothing happened.

His emotions rose, stewing his mind in panic and fear. He debated the reason why he could still 'feel' emotions despite his lack of a body, and therefore lack of chemical reactions in his brain. This did not help alleviate the fear. He tried to think of interesting things to keep himself calm but Kearan was never the brightest crayon in the box, so it didn't take long for him to run out of ideas. However the random thoughts helped calm the gnawing panic in his psyche.

After that he counted, but only made it to forty before his lethargic nature kicked in. He tried to focus on his surroundings to see if he could make out any sources of light or deeper shades of blackness, but found nothing. Eventually he just started singing songs in his head trying to pass the time.

An unknown amount of time passed and Kearan had pretty much exhausted any thoughts about music, books, or games to entertain himself. This weird sort of giddiness started to creep into his mind. It made his emotions fluctuate rapidly from high to low and his thoughts were'nt entirely coherent anymore. Before this strange feeling could consume him totally, a lackluster male voice entered his mind.

"Mental limit reached. Time elapsed: one hour, six minutes, and forty two seconds. Initial aptitude: Immortal grade. Transfer location identified. Planet A4evol in Unviverse 7Xa12. Power system detected. Life spirit system identified. Searching for compatible Life Spirit based on members aptitude and soul... Life Spirit found. Status: Newborn. Aptitude: Divine Grade. Error exceeding members aptitude. Soul compatibility at ninety-six percent. Seeking approval from Director..... Approval granted. Integration started 5%....25%...60%.....98% synchronization. High level synchronicity achieved."

Kearan felt his mind being enveloped in a cool soothing sensation as he listened to the strange emotionless voice, before he could think to deeply about everything the voice continued. "Total evaluation of member MA7336: Demigod potential. Completing transfer. Enjoy your trial membership!" As the voice faded so did Kearan's consciousness as he drifted into a blissful sleep.

.....

A massive forest full of leafy green trees and mild undergrowth stretched for miles and miles. Inside this forest a young man was seemingly sleeping, as he was sitting on the ground, and leaning against a tree with his eyes closed. The man looked maybe 21 or 22 years old with pale skin and dark black hair. He looked lean but healthy under his plain black pajamas. His hands and feet were bare and seemingly unmarred by any hard labor.

Around him the forest was surprisingly bare of organisms. A few small animals flitted here or there and some insects moved about, but from the lively appearance of the forests vegetation you would expect to see more wildlife. The ground was thick with fallen leaves and twigs. Bushes were scattered infrequently throughout the forest floor. The ground was thoroughly shaded from the afternoon sun, with only a few beams breaking through the canopy. The floor seemed to still be slightly damp from a recent rain, the trees were thick and healthy. Their bark deep brown and rough like oak.

All of this combined with the silence seemed to create an almost idealic scene, if not slightly creepy once you registered the fact that no birds were chirping. This is what the young man saw as he opened his hazel colored eyes.

Sweet beautiful light flooded Kearan's eyes when he woke up. His mind took a few minutes to register that he was looking at trees and that his back was intensely uncomfortable. All of sudden white sparkles flooded his vision and he was slightly dizzy like he had just stood up too fast. A strange emotionless female voice suddenly intruded upon his thoughts.

"Life spirit activated. Adapted to a familiar concept of trial member MA7336. System Prompt: Congratulations you have awakened your life spirit! As my soul was newly born it will be in a dormant state until I have enough energy to awaken again and gain my infant form. Until then my unconsciousness will use this construct that was provided due to your trial membership, all so you can adapt to your new reality in a timely manner. This is your current status."

You read Tsun Zhu once when you were bored.

The mass of information bombarded Kearan. It wasn't like a screen he could see or anything, but like a file that was downloaded into his brain and he could access it at will.

His burning back brought him out of his reverie so he started to really take in his situation. He was sitting against large tree and the water from the damp forest floor started to seep into his pajama bottoms, causing his legs to start getting cold. He leaned forward and touched his back recognizing the rough bark had scratched him up pretty good even through his shirt. Disregarding the weird dream and the even stranger voices in his head, the reality of his situation started to sink in.

He could here the faint rustle of leaves, the groaning of wood, and what could possibly be leaves crackling as wildlife scurried around just out of sight. The faint breeze reminded him that his feet were bare and his pajamas were thin as he always got hot in the night. Kearan had seen survival shows before and he is man enough to admit he wouldn't last one day out in the wild.

Panic started to rise a little but it was manageable as he had been through much worse situations before, well emotionally and mentally, maybe not physically. Anyway he should be fine. Whoever took him couldn't have brought him too far since he didn't feel like the weird dream lasted that long now that he was awake. As he made the decision to get off his ass the female voice once again intruded.

"Quest Activated! Goal: Survive!

Description:

Please find food, water, and shelter before nightfall.

Rewards: You get to live!

Failure: Most likely death by hypothermia or becoming a prey item.

Good Luck!!!

Kearan sat staring blankly at the scenery in front of him for several seconds before cursing silently "Well shit. It seems I've finally gone off my rocker. Although apparently stuff like hearing voices or changing personalities can happen in extreme situations so maybe it's just that? I mean I don't fell insane, but I am talking to myself in the middle of the woods. Maybe it was due to that weird dream?"

Kearan chuckled lightly before deciding it was probably best to do as the voice said since it was also his most important goal to survive. Which kind of backed his theory of his mental state adapting to extreme situations. Kearan audibly groaned as he stood up, an old habit of his lazy personality he has had since childhood. 'Well time to actually work' Kearan thought to himself reluctantly.

New writer. I am well aware I have very little grammar skills, but I would like to use this platform to get better. Please criticize as much as possible so I can get better. I will also constantly re-read published chapters and fix them as I improve. Thanks for reading!
