Chapter 62: Hard to Convince
Moving a chair out of the cabin, Rodney sat down with crossed legs and said, "Now, let's talk about the issues between us, Miss Reiju. I'm curious about this guy called Wesker, who seems to be a useless fellow. What threat did he pose that made the Germa 66 people come after him?"
Reiju turned her head away without answering.
"No response? Then I'll ask this guy." Rodney lifted Wesker, who looked like a corpse, and controlled him with genjutsu, turning him into a mindless puppet.
"So, Mr. Wesker, tell me why the Vinsmoke Family is hunting you."
Wesker's eyes were lifeless, and he looked dazed.
"Because I used to be a scientist researching biotechnology alongside Vegapunk and Vinsmoke Judge. Vinsmoke Judge wanted to prevent me from exposing his research and taking my technology, so he tried to kill me. I didn't want to cooperate with the World Government, so I had no choice but to wander the sea."
Clap!
With a snap of Rodney's fingers, the genjutsu was lifted, and Wesker's body fell to the ground again. Rodney chuckled, "Looks like luck is on my side. I encountered a big fish. Tsk, Miss Reiju, thank you for bringing me this researcher. Now, I'll need you to pay a ransom."
"A ransom?" Reiju was taken aback.
"Yes."
Rodney's smile resembled that of a sly fox as he crossed his hands on his knees. "The two members of Germa 66, the Modified Human Toxic Pink and Winch Green, are worth two billion bellies each in pirate bounties. I'm offering you a friendly price."
"You're robbing us!"
"I'm not, am I, Miss Secretary?"
"Ah, no, Captain, you're just conducting business. I wonder if Miss Vinsmoke is willing to negotiate with our Captain?"
Robin's smile had a professional touch, but it looked quite forced.
"You... We don't have money..."
"Then, let's leave it at that. Disarm yourself. Oh, like this?"
While Reiju was distracted, Rodney copied some movements and tapped a few spots on her combat suit, causing it to deactivate and revealing a proper outfit.
He tossed a pink can with the number "0" in his hand and said with a smile, "Your every move can't escape my eyes. Now, rest a little, Miss Reiju, and indulge in sweet dreams!"
The three tomoe in Rodney's eyes rotated, using more chakra this time. Reiju trembled and resisted with all her might, but the soft calls of her mother and the affectionate voice of her little brother overwhelmed her.
A swift chop struck Reiju's neck, sending her into a genjutsu.
"Tsk, my genjutsu skills still need improvement."
Rodney put away his Sharingan and turned to Robin, who was sitting on the terrace of the castle, reading a book on a beach chair.
"Captain, did you find out anything?"
"No."
With a gloomy expression, Rodney sat on another beach chair.
"Do I really look like a bad guy? They mistook me for someone from Germa. Robin, you should try next time."
"Captain, isn't your Sharingan capable of making people tell the truth?"
"Genjutsu has its limitations; it can only be used temporarily, not forever. Besides, I don't have the Rinnegan like Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki; otherwise, I wouldn't waste it on a scientist. It would be a waste."
If he had the Rinnegan, he could use it on Admirals or Yonkos. But, using it on a scientist like Wesker was a waste.
"What's the Rinnegan?" Robin asked curiously.
"It's a powerful dojutsu, but whether I can obtain it is still uncertain."
Rodney shook his head. The evolution of the Sharingan was unknown to him. It wasn't clear if emotions were needed or if he could exchange it using the system. If emotions were necessary, then the Mangekyō Sharingan was the limit.
Unless the system also offered Indra's cells, using the Mangekyō too frequently would blind his eyes.
He subconsciously touched his eyes and smiled. "Robin-chan, did Miss Reiju wake up?"
"Captain, do you want her to join our crew?"
"No, Reiju will only obey Vinsmoke Judge's orders. Our commands won't work on her. If she ever betrays Judge's orders, I'd have no place to cry. Let's just exchange for the ransom and take this snail. It's more useful than a ship and much faster. We won't need to buy a ship when we reach the Holy Land of Mary Geoise."
"True, I wonder how many unknown texts are in the giant snail's library."
Robin was interested in the library of the giant snail. With the help of her clones, they took the people and their belongings, and Rodney controlled the snail with his Sharingan, making it his property.
He directed it to move in a specific direction.
Due to his modifications, Yonji regained consciousness quickly. The result was being dragged into the sea by several shadow clones, suffocating and going into shock again. His face became swollen from the constant soaking.
Wesker also woke up and, upon seeing Rodney, looked distraught. However, he soon roared, "I won't hand over my research to Germa! I curse you, Vinsmoke Judge! Do you really think your technology can make me surrender? Dream on!!"
"Wait..."
"Ha! Damn you, Vinsmoke Judge! You'll never get my research! My wife, here I come!!" He took out a vial of medicine and was about to swallow it.
Rodney hurriedly stopped him. "Hey, man, you're going crazy! Take a good look. I don't have spiral eyebrows, nor am I affiliated with Germa. I'm just a passing pirate hunter and Warlord of the Sea!"
"Do you think I'd believe your nonsense?!"
Rodney: ??
Do you scientists not listen to people?
