Chapter 153: Connor Kenway
"So, let's begin!"
At the moment Rodney announced the start, Mad Ghost's eyes suddenly turned fierce, revealing a murderous intent far greater than the previous attack.
Back then, to avoid exposing his killing intent, he had moved at the fastest speed to assassinate the target. But now, in order to kill him, he was exposing his killing intent.
"You're in a hurry, aren't you? You want my head that badly?"
Lightning flickered around Rodney as he vanished in an instant before the Mad Ghosts.
So fast!
Mad Ghost was surprised; his Observation Haki had caught a blurry figure behind him.
A small knife was thrown, passing through Rodney's body, but it didn't draw a drop of blood.
Afterimage?! Mad Ghost heard Rodney's voice suddenly in his ears, "Too slow!"
"Take my fist!"
Mad Ghost felt a heavy blow to his abdomen, and then he was sent flying.
After crashing through several coconut trees, Mad Ghost staggered to his feet. He had not been able to use his assassination techniques effectively.
Lightning? He touched his abdomen; it seemed that several ribs had been broken. It hurt...
But a real man never says it hurts; even if it does, he endures it. He wasn't good at fighting opponents like Rodney, who were so fast. This was a tough match.
His hand axes seemed to have disappeared somewhere, but that didn't matter. His fist and footwork were excellent.
Rodney took a fighting stance and asked, "Can your body handle it?"
"How could it not?"
"Barehanded?"
"Barehanded!"
"Very well, today I'll show you the captain's martial arts!" Rodney ended his Thunder Armor and took a stance.
"I'm looking forward to it!"
Mad Ghost's fists were shrouded in black Haki, dark and shiny. He struck with a pair of black fists, creating a fierce gale aimed at Rodney's throat.
His fighting style was deadly, honed through countless life-and-death experiences. He had removed unnecessary movements, aiming to kill his opponent as quickly as possible.
Rodney received this punch, and the battle of martial arts had begun. It was a clash of Haki and martial arts. To be honest, Rodney's Haki wasn't as strong as Mad Ghost's, but his body could withstand it, thanks to his training.
People in the world of pirates are rarely trained, especially pirates. Most of them relied on their talents. They would fight an enemy, and if they won, their strength would increase; if they lost, they would die.
Most of their time on the sea was spent on enjoyment: drinking, women, money, and food. The training was a rare occurrence and only happened when absolutely necessary.
Fists collided continuously, like raindrops falling on each other.
"Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora!"
"Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda!"
This was what the battle was like, much more dangerous than words could describe. Mad Ghost's killing martial arts were battle-tested and suited him best. Rodney, on the other hand, relied on his body's reflexes, countering the attacks as they came.
Now, his body had grown significantly stronger, and he could easily launch a Vassal Kick without using excessive strength.
Mad Ghost's movements were captured by Rodney's Sharingan, and Rodney, with his Insightful Eye, immediately predicted and calculated the most suitable counterattack in his mind. Then he struck back.
Boom!
A fierce punch landed on Mad Ghost's nose. He didn't step back; he took the punch head-on. He didn't care about his nose; he aimed to inflict a severe blow to his opponent's throat.
"Hmph!"
Rodney's body twisted at an incredible angle, demonstrating incredible flexibility. Mad Ghost's fist barely grazed his hair, and one of Rodney's hands grabbed the arm, pulling it toward him. Then, he delivered a knee strike to Mad Ghost's belly.
"Ugh..."
It felt like something was stirring in his stomach, incredibly uncomfortable. He felt like he was about to vomit everything he had eaten that morning. He knew that he absolutely couldn't afford to lose at this moment, so he forced himself to stand up. A shadow suddenly flashed in his vision.
"Shadow of the Dancing Leaf!"
Mad Ghost was kicked under the chin, and his whole body flew into the air. Rodney jumped and appeared parallel to him.
What?! His heart skipped a beat, surprised by Rodney's movements. He heard Rodney's voice in his ear, "I won't give you a chance to counterattack. Lions Barrage Unleashed!!"
Behind him, Rodney's body twisted, and one of his legs slammed heavily into Mad Ghost's belly, worsening his injuries.
Boom!
Mad Ghost crashed into the ground, leaving a large crater. He tried to stand up again, but he had lost his strength.
Rodney asked, "Ratonhnhaké:ton or Connor Kenway? Which name do you prefer? Or would you like to tell me your own name?"
"Connor."
Mad Ghost, or rather Connor now, said, "One day, I'll take your head..."
After saying those words, he lost consciousness.
"I can't believe, Captain, that you managed to recruit this guy."
Reiju walked over, looking at Connor lying there.
"Haha, I couldn't believe it either. He has combat capabilities, not much weaker than Griffin Bidven. In fact, he might even be a bit stronger. This kid isn't shy about hitting hard."
Rodney used his Mystical Palm Technique to heal himself. He had suffered some injuries due to Connor's punches, but because they were blunt force, they were painful but not lethal.
"Has anyone been selected for the ship's doctor position?" Rodney asked.
"Yes, three candidates. There's Dr. Frank with blond hair, Dr. Jerome with a scar on his face, and the purple-haired female doctor. We don't know her name yet."
"Oh?"
Rodney looked at the three of them, his gaze lingering on the purple-haired female doctor for a moment.
Purple hair, glasses, a doctor, and that figure, to be honest, the girl was quite good-looking. A beautiful female doctor was certainly more appealing than those two rough guys.
He walked over and asked, "May I know your name?"
Isabella pushed her glasses and said with an expressionless face, "Valen Isabella. You can call me Isabella."
Her voice was cold as if nothing mattered to her.
Unbeknownst to Rodney, even just by being looked at, some of her personal habits could be discerned. If he knew, he probably wouldn't have recruited this woman.
"Hello, Miss Isabella. Would you like to join my crew? Of course, if you're not interested, Avalon's No. 1 Hospital would be happy to welcome you. By the way, how's your self-defense ability?"
Isabella remained silent. Rodney lowered his head and grasped her hand, smiling as he said, "It's quite dangerous; you almost had me there. So scary, so scary."
A razor-sharp surgical knife was held in Isabella's hand, almost touching Rodney's abdomen.
"Very well, Miss Isabella, welcome to my crew. You can call me Captain from now on."
He let go of Isabella's hand and turned to the doctors who hadn't been selected as crew members.
"Don't be discouraged, everyone. Although you didn't join my crew, Avalon's No. 1 Hospital is still in great need of your technical expertise. We place great importance on talent recruitment. I can promise that the treatment is good."
Most of the doctors didn't feel regret. In fact, most of them had come here to apply for the hospital job, not to become Rodney's crew members. They had only been brought here to participate in the ship's doctor promotion competition.
Who would have thought that Miss Isabella would be the successful candidate?
"I refuse!"
One of the doctors with a scar on his face stood up.
"You only chose this woman because you found her pretty! I am Dr. Jerome, the first doctor of the Kingdom of Elixiria. I came here specifically, and how could I not join your crew?"
