Dark Embrace: New Beginnings
Suddenly, I felt an ice-cold hand touch my chin, gently pulling my face upwards. I was met with a pair of sparkling eyes that posed dark red irises. His eyes were both breathtaking and frightening. My eyes trailed over this man's tall figure, allowing me to notice skin as pale as the winter snow and silky long black hair. He stood out in a wine-red tailcoat that boasted gold trimmings, a visible white shirt with ruffles at the neck poking out underneath and black breeches that emphasized his long, muscular legs. This man was unlike anyone I had ever seen before. No noble I have come across had ever looked quite as astonishing or carried an aura as powerful as this man. I wanted to look away, but I simply could not break away from his hypnotic gaze. I felt uneasy but somehow safe.
This story tells the tale of the early life of Phoenix Arrington, a woman born in the 19th century. She was born to a white father that fished, a black mother that worked as a maid and she had three older sisters. They were of peasant status and it did not help that there were barely any other half-breeds on the western side of the village. She and her family were seen as pariahs all because of their race but they did not let it get to them. However, one day at the market when a woman voices her opinions about her, Phoenix realizes how hurtful it could be. That is when she meets the interesting young Lord Bellamy. Phoenix will come to learn about who she truly is and her connection with the family of the Duke and Duchess of Arundel. Things will drastically change but will they be for better or worse?
