You need to give it to Fudge, he was still standing even if he was trembling.
The whole hall was quite looking at the two figures, it was like whoever between them spoke first will lose his ground.
After an unknown time, it was Fudge who spoke first, against Dumbledore's piercing glare, he couldn't hold on much.
Trying to break the ice fudge started with a greeting.
"Albus, Quite a dreadful weather out there," Fudge said nervously,
"I've come quite a distance from the Ministry of Magic, and I apologize for crashing into your Halloween dinner, but I did send you a letter prior before about my arrival."
All eyes turned to Dumbledore, and looking at him one could tell he was anticipating Fudge's arrival.
Maintaining his composed demeanor, Dumbledore replied, "Yes, Cornelius, And I did respond to your letter.
Didn't I advised you against your visit at this time."
With a wave of his hand, Dumbledore signaled for Professor McGonagall to escort the students out.
The auditorium buzzed with chatter and anticipation. Everyone wanted to stay and listen on the conversation between the Minister of Magic and the Headmaster of Hogwarts.
Surely, it must have been something very important concerning the safety of the Wizarding world, right?
However, under Professor McGonagall's stern gaze, no one dared to remain and watch, reluctantly leaving the scene behind.
With the hall finally being empty , Fudge chose to sat down on Professor McGonagall's seat.
"You don't get it, Albus," Fudge said trying to remain calm,
"I'm under a lot of pressure right now. The people want the culprit, and the ministry is pressing me to bring someone,
while Lucius was caught by Alastor on the night of this incident... This renders him going to Azkaban moot as we know he is too rich to be jailed without some heavy crime.
And even the ministry is not happy with the law prohibiting dark magic, as most of their legacy and power depends on it, they are waiting for you to grow weak so they could make it null. And lucious is in the forefront of this.
He has aslo bribed those who don't have this kind of legacy with his money.
With him donating thousands of galleons every year, those who were neutral before are aligning themselves with him.
Hence I have no power, or Authority to Imprison him without some solid breach and evidence and selling some low class dark items won't cut it. "
"As much as I understand your worries, and need for a culprit." Dumbledore replied coldly, "It doesn't mean I will be letting you take Snape as the culprit."
Snape's smile froze on his face, morphing into a gloating smirk as he glanced at Hagrid.
Upon hearing Snape's name, Hagrid's trembling ceased entirely. He regained his composure and reached for his bottle of mead.
Fudge offered an awkward smile as he wiped sweat from his brow.
"Naturally, we'll be conducting an investigation before the judgment, and will free him if found innocent.
The issue is that on the night of the incident, Snape wasn't at school. He was spotted at..."
Dumbledore interrupted Fudge: "On that day, Snape was under my orders investigating the circumstances surrounding Professor Robert's death. Hence he wasn't the one who appeared at the Ministry of Magic."
Fudge seemed to have been pricked by a needle. Narrowing his eyes he stood up, "Wasn't Robert's death reported as an accident?"
Sighing Dumbledore replied : "It was indeed an accident, but it's his identity that's making me a little suspicious.
I needed to confirm it, so I asked Professor Snape to verify it.
Hence the attack on Magic of ministry's warehouse has nothing to do with Snape..."
"Albus, you should have informed us about your suspicion and private investigation, we could have handed you some Aurors to aid you in the search."
Fudge's previously nervous demeanor swiftly changed to one of aggression.
"Snape's history doesn't speak well for him. Albus,
Despite your testimony in his trial, given the magnitude of this incident, the Ministry of Magic has to take action,
I've been contacted by the school board."
"Cornelius, I'll make this clear-it won't benefit anyone to remove Snape," Dumbledore retorted, his blue eyes flashing with anger.
"Think a bit from my perspective a bit," Fudge said, toying with his top hat.
"I'm under immense pressure. People need to see that I'm taking action.
If it ends up the culprit was not Snape, he can return without a word. But I'll have to take him away for now, and it's non negotiable."
"Take me?" Snape's voice was frigid. "Where will you take me?"
"It's a temporary measure," Fudge stated not daring to meet Snape's gaze,
"not a punishment, but merely a precautionary step. If someone else is apprehended, you'll be released with a full apology from the ministry."
With that, Fudge rose and exited, leaving Dumbledore to shake his head slightly at Snape.
...
With the minister arriving at the Halloween, it was guaranteed to be something Big this Halloween was doomed to be bad,
Everyone was still taking about yesterday's event.
According to what they saw yesterday, it should have been Hagrid the minister came for with the Aurors, with the way Hagrid was acting it was nothing but obvious.
Think about everyone's shock when they found out, that it was Snape the minister took away.
It was so unexpected that even Snape gloated Hagrid, for him being scared.
The Gryffindor's were as excited as if they have won the house cup, for the first time, after Slytherin's win in a row.
With Snape out of the picture they finally sighed in relief for they saw hope of not being the generation with the lowest house points in history.
That was indeed what happened, the Gryffindor's started to rapidly gain house points, the day when they will be in positive was not so far off.
Snape's disappearence was enjoyed by every house, except for the Slytherin's.
The snakes without their Piper were restless, and unhappy.
Speaking of the Piper, wasn't he really miserable. First he was finished off by the shoe in front of the whole school,
Then he had his ass poked by a wand, some second and third degree burns, making him unable to speak, making William shamelessly use that to increase his house points.
And not long after his release now he was taken away by the minister of magic himself.
Could it be that the curse on Defence Against The Dark Arts position was transferred to the Potion class.
There were a lot of rumors related to Snape's disappearence.
Some stated that he was the culprit or had something to do with the attack on the ministry's warehouse.
It was the most common belief between the students, The Ministry released Lucious the next day after they took Snape away, for whom the Minister of Magic himself led the team.
It was impossible to deny the connection between these two things.
But whether Snape was really mind behind it, or was he just a participant or innocent.
Was he co-operating and helping with the Ministry of Magic's investigation, there was no way to know about it.
Asking the professor's was just a waste of time, they kept their mouths shut not saying anything about the previous night.
McGonagall even deducted points from Slytherin's for bugging her with this.
The potions class was temporarily teached by Madam Pomfrey, who was also said to be a potions master.
This wasn't believed by the students, because they knew the potions used in the infirmary were made by Snape, it could only have been him.
Only he will add the disgusting flavour in the potions.
Everyone was happy with Madam Pomfrey being chosen to teach them potions, at least with her they won't have to endure those Cynicism and unfair point deduction.
However, everyone soon regretted her being the professor.
Madam Pomfrey, in her purple robe, walked into the warm basement classroom.
It was quite warm inside...
Ever since Professor Snape got out of the hospital, he insisted Dumbledore for adding a fireplace.
And he kept it burning even on the hot days. While it was nice during cold ones,
Snape seemed quite grumpy, messing with the fire and glaring at the students.
Strangely, with the addition of the fireplace the students' potion failures increased by 30%.
Madam Pomfrey was looking around the classroom, clearly not pleased with the decoration of the room.
She will probably change the rooms decoration in Snape's absence.
"Now," Madam Pomfrey said quickly. "Stand away from the cauldron and take out your quills and books."
Most of the students exchanged glances strangely.
The order 'stand away from the cauldron' seemed particularly strange in Potions class.
What would they even do without a cauldron, how will they brew potions?
William standing away from the cauldron, took out the quill, ink, and parchment.
Madam Pomfrey reached into her handbag, retrieving her rather short wand, tapped the blackboard with it. Words materialized on the board:
"A wizard's post-injury care!"
"Alright, your lesson is usually taught by Professor Snape," Madam Pomfrey spoke, facing the classroom.
Madam Pomfrey continued, "Potions class can be quite challenging. Many young wizards might even face some accidents after attending this class..."
"So, potions can be quite a dangerous subject, hence we will be learning how you can do things before taken for the infirmary."
"In muggle terms it is called first aid, simply Stating the help done by the first person to make your condition a bit okay.
Doesn't mean you don't have to come in the infirmary later,
I'm teaching you this so you will have some healing techniques and spell in your arsenal, that can save your or someone else's life."
William glanced at Madam Pomfrey quizzically. Blaming Potions for these issues seemed odd; after all, it was clearly the problem with Professor Snape's teaching method.
However, Madam Pomfrey's logical approach made her a valuable asset to Hogwarts.
If you can't change the teacher, teach the children how to survive then.
