House Of The Dragon Fanfic (AU) . . . . . . | "The Exiled Dragon": Banished for forbidden love, Prince Aenys Targaryen, grandson of Jaehaerys, vanished into the ruins of Valyria amid a storm that overcame the ship that carried him to Essos. Forged by years of exile, he returns not as a broken man but as King Viserys’s chosen heir. With the savage dragon Cannibal at his command and ancient Valyrian relics in his grasp, Aenys is no longer the prince the realm remembers. Being summoned after Daemon Targaryen’s disgracefull proclamation of the 'Heir for a day', Aenys’s arrival shocks the court, sparking whispers of his mysterious power and unyielding ambition. The bonds of family are tested as old wounds reopen and a dangerous game begins. As dragons soar and rivalries intensify, Aenys must choose between loyalty to his brother and the allure of the Iron Throne. Will he unite House Targaryen or destroy it from within? An alternate universe saga where fire and blood reshape the destiny of Westeros. . . . . . . No rights to 'A Song Of Ice And Fire' and 'Fire and Blood' belong to me. Hey everyone, I hope you're all doing well.
After a lot of reflection, I've made a decision:
I'll be taking a break from this fanfic to refocus and improve it. This hasn't been an easy choice, but I feel it's necessary to give this story the attention and care it truly deserves.
As many of you know, I'm still relatively new to writing, and while I'm proud of how far this story has come,— reaching 1 million views in just a month and a half,— I've also been struggling with the flaws in my writing process. I hate planning, but I hate mistakes even more. Letting things flow naturally has brought life to this fanfic, but it's also led to plot holes and missed opportunities that I could've avoided with better foresight.
This story started as a simple idea,— a way to explore the what-ifs of House Targaryen,— and has grown into something much bigger than I ever imagined. Your love for Aenys, his struggles, and his ambitions has been overwhelming, and it's that support that has pushed me to do better.
From Aenys' exile to his quest to cleanse King's Landing of corruption, I've poured my heart into this narrative. But as I look back, I can't shake the feeling that I could've done more,— especially with the beginning. I've realized that starting with the Valyrian Arc, exploring Aenys' connection to Valyrian culture and history, would've laid a stronger foundation for everything that followed.
That's the story I want to tell,— the one I believe you deserve.
So, I've decided to take some time off to properly plan, rewrite, and elevate this fanfic to its full potential. I'm not sure how long it'll take, but I'll use this break to give the story the structure and depth it needs.
I want to thank each and every one of you for your incredible support. Your reactions to the characters, the relationships, and the twists have meant the world to me. You've made this journey unforgettable, and I want to come back stronger to do justice to this story and to all of you who have invested your time and emotions into it.
I'll still be around checking comments, and I'll keep you updated on my progress. Thank you for believing in Aenys, for cheering when he's strong, and for aching when he falters. You've made this all worthwhile.
Take care of yourselves, and I'll see you all very soon.
