Hero of the light

The sun was scorching hot causing the brown coconut district to emit smoke coming from the footsteps of the bustling people, a tall white building with expensive windows was standing tall amidst the terrible temperature.

In one of the classroom a suffocating atmosphere covered every corner of the room it started creeping to the hearts of the students sitting in a blue chair that was filled with mathematical formulas, today the teacher will announce who will graduate that's all yet the moment the teacher's mouth began to move all sorts of prayers combined formed a shield that seemed to gave the student's body a relief.

He stands up and gave one last glance at his desk, 'It's a good spot for sleeping.' He walked out of the classroom and headed outside. The cars passing by created an atmosphere that destroyed the peace, people male and female, wearing fancy and tattered clothes, some rich and poor. Jason slowly walked while encouraging himself that he himself didn't believe.

After walking he saw a restaurant and paused for a bit, 'I'm hungry.' He reached out his pocket and pulled the black wallet that had a Goku sticker attached to it. '200cc, I'll just eat at home.' He continued to walk and after hours of walking his legs were slightly heavy, in front of him was a huge change, the road was enough for a car to passed by, but not large enough for two. He paused and turned his head to a house that was not big and not small, it was slightly better compared to the neighbors who had a small house. He pulled his wallet and grabbed the key that was shining with light under the sun, he glanced around and nodded, his parents were coming home at night and after that, they asked him about school and then after eating they will go to sleep. But he feared that they may not be able to sleep at what he was about to tell them, shaking his head he walked to his room and locked it behind him.

He jumped to his bed and sighed, after he changed clothes Jason began to browse the internet with his phone. 'Jobs seekers' he searched and clicked one article about jobs that needed more employees, he saw there were a lot most of them are software development and doctors from foreign countries. He needs to have a backup plan so that his parents will not be thoroughly shocked, he could say I knew my future job and it doesn't need to be graduate and stuff he would play along with fate, and whether fate like it or not he would accept it with a nonchalant attitude.

'Oh' his eyebrows were raised as he noticed something that catches his attention, 'Soldiers, the officials were hiring more soldiers regardless of background, grades in school, etc, contact the number below.' After he read it and understood what it was his brown eyes turned bright! This is it, I'll become a soldier!

He glanced at the phone and knew he needs to gather more information about the job, it was 4:00 PM, his parents would come at 7:00 PM but this day was special because they knew that their son would graduate or not. Jason's mouth twitched, this guy was a villain! continuing to read he found some interesting things. 'In my service of being a soldier, I understand that your teammates will be on your back, they are there when you are in dark situations. maybe that's what humans are, helping each other to see the view on top of the mountain.' Jason's heart was warmed this guy from villain became a good man!

Checking the comments there was a mix of opinions, but he didn't bother to read them because he noticed the time was 5:30 PM. 'That's it, I'll choose the soldier and for the pay it was quite okay, around 10,000cc' glancing at the window he saw the blood sunset and few people walking by, rubbing his stomach he walked out of the room and began to look in the fridge. He saw red meat that was shaped circle, he grabbed it and walked to the kitchen.

6:30 PM the night descends and munching sounds could be heard, Jason was eating while glancing at his phone. There were rows of inspirational words that he browsed through the internet and it made him motivated! After finishing the food he washes the plate and began to wait in the living room, every second were like hands grabbing at Jason's heart it made him harder to breathe.

At exactly 6:34 PM, the front door opened revealing a middle-aged man and a woman around 40 years old. They had the same tired look on their face, when Jason saw the tired look on his parents face he hesitated but decided to tell the truth. Closing the door, the middle-aged man's name was Henry. He glanced at the surroundings before looking at Jason who was sitting on a chair. Behind him was a woman her name was Andrea even when her face had wrinkled she was still pretty and she also glances at Jason with a bright light shining on her brown eyes.

"Mom sit for a while I will be cooking this time since you and dad are tired." Jason stands up and headed to the kitchen 'delaying the time is not good but they are tired so let them relax for a while before bringing the bad news.' His mouth formed a bitter smile as he began to cook.

Henry sat on the sofa while stretching his shoulders, working in the office was tiring his body could still handle it but if he grows old, it was not hard to guess whether he can continue or not. He gave a smile at his wife who sat beside him, they were happy today because their son is about to graduate but they can't help but worry what if he failed?

Andrea noticed his worried expression and whispered "Whatever the results it will be okay you know graduating in that school were hard they have 68% of failing to graduate." She comforts him but Henry did not look relax even one bit, if their son had failed just thinking about the money he poured into his education made his mind hurts. soon a salivating aroma spread in the kitchen, traveling to the living room and it was sucked by the two who were rubbing their stomachs.

Jason walked out of the kitchen with two plates in his hands, placing them down on the table, and began to invite his parents while inspecting their expression, when he looked at his mother's face he was glad! But when his eyes turned to his father his heart beat loudly, his father's expression was a mix of happy and worry. They didn't speak when they eat, the taste of the food was not delicious for Jason but from the two they nodded their heads from time to time.

After eating his father launched the attack "Jason how was school? Did you passed?" Jason who was about to put the spoon on his mouth froze, he put it down and brought his hands to his chin. "Father it was a good experience to be able to study at a nice school, although I didn't make friends but I found myself in the process." Henry stared at his son and said "Go straight to the point, did you passed or not?" Andrea caressed her husband's back while looking at Jason.

Jason knew he messed up! He sighed and said with a calm tone "Sorry mom and dad your son has failed." If one had super hearing power they would hear the sounds of something being torn apart. Henry's eyes were getting dimmer at every second, his body was stiff he can't breathe! his body started to shake uncontrollably, seeing this Andrea shouted "Ah!!" Jason quickly stands up and began to hold his father's chest. "Mom where is the key to the car?!" Andrea ran to the sofa and searched in her bag, she gasped heavily it was harder for her to breathe, but when she touched the rough and sharp object she quickly brought it to her son.

In the hospital, there was a bed and a middle-aged man was lying on it, his appearance was like a flower that was stepped on, it was gloomy. Jason's mother was sitting nearby her hands were folded she was praying and her eyes had a tint of red while warm tears would drop from time to time. Jason hugged his mom and told him that he would go for a job so he will leave the house for a few months.

"Are you leaving me alone?" Her mother's voice was soft it was lacking strength, Jason stands up and softly said: "Mom everything will be alright as long I was here, I would never leave you and father after I got the job I will give money to support father's recovery." Her mother just nodded weakly while looking at her husband on the bed, he stepped out of the room and sat on a nearby chair. jason's heart was screaming 'You're useless! Useless! Useless!' After a minute of a battle against himself, he stands up and started to think positively. he was walking in circles when a robotic voice echoed in his head.
