Superman had seen that Wonder Woman was about to attack, so he launched forward, intending to intercept her, but he was too late. The man was killed, his head now on the tiled floor while his body thumped down close to it, blood dripping out like a fountain.
Superman was shocked by Wonder Woman's actions; however, she was unmoved, even going as far as to wipe the blood staining her sword on the man's clothes. "It is a disgrace to use a weapon of the gods to cut down vermin like this. That's the only thing I feel regret over."
Superman was now angry, but there was nothing he could do—the man was already dead. However, he still wanted to voice his displeasure. "You can't just kill people as you please! There are laws here, laws meant to—"
Before Superman could finish, Diana cut him off. "Your laws are flawed. When I first came here, I respected them because I knew that every culture has its own set of rules and beliefs, and that I, as an outsider, should follow them. However, I have taken it upon myself to better educate myself on your culture, to better understand your laws and their origins. The conclusion I reached is that they are pointless. Your system does not work. Arias was right."
Hearing Arias's name, Superman's heart involuntarily began to thump harder, as if a natural sort of fear had dawned on him. On the surface, though, he only frowned. "Is he the one who told you to start killing people?"
This accusation made Diana fairly angry, and she didn't hesitate to lift her sword toward Superman. "Do not dare lay false accusations on my friend. Unlike your world leaders, he told me the honest truth about your world, your culture, and the truth I've come to learn for myself. You incarcerate murderers and rapists, yet they escape and repeat their actions. Even then, you simply incarcerate them again, thinking they will change their ways? No. Death is the only thing these people who prey on the weak deserve, and it is my duty to uphold justice for those who cannot do so for themselves."
Diana's words caught Superman off-guard. It was definitely something in line with Arias's way of doing things, at least from how Superman saw it. "Can't you see he's using you? He just—"
Once again, Wonder Woman cut Superman off, bringing her blade even closer to his neck. "If you dare lay false accusations on my friend once more, I will not hesitate to fight you, even to the death. We Amazons protect our honor with our lives, and I consider my friend's honor my own, so watch your words."
Superman now frowned deeply. He could see that speaking further would only escalate the situation in a negative direction. There was no getting through to Diana from how things looked, and with the man already dead, there was nothing more he could do.
So he simply hovered toward the woman, covering her with her coat, which had been lying nearby. He then lifted her in his arms, poised to leave, but as he did so, he gave Diana one final glance and warned, "You may think you're doing the right thing, but you're going down a dark path."
Wonder Woman, however, was unmoved. "Better to go down the dark path than be a slave and a coward like you."
Once Diana said this, Superman simply flew off to take the woman somewhere safe.
With Superman gone, Diana glanced back at the man's corpse, showing more displeasure before leaving herself.
...
Much further away from her location, on the other side of the city, a similar situation was transpiring. This time, it concerned the Flash and Harley.
A group of young men, unaffected by the spores and barely teenagers, had decided to take advantage of the city's chaotic state. They performed thefts and even kidnapped a few affected women, escaping to the city's outskirts, where police and superheroes weren't present, as their focus was the city center.
The group of five had broken into one of the many residential buildings without a care. Given the city's current state, it was unlikely there were people present, and even if there were, the group felt they had the advantage in numbers.
Luck seemed to be in their favor as they found the building to be empty. They immediately gathered in the small living room, where they began to strip the young girls.
One eager young man was already in the midst of unzipping his pants while two of his friends held down the girls.
But as they were doing this, *knock knock*, a loud knock came from the door… followed by, "Please help me! Help me, please! There's a crazy guy chasing me! Please, someone, I'll pay, please."
Hearing the soft, sexy voice of a woman on the other side, the five young men looked at each other and grinned. The one in the midst of unzipping his pants gave the others a quick nod.
"Go let her in and keep these bitches' mouths shut. When she comes in, drag her over here," he instructed one of the boys, who quickly rushed to the door, driven mostly by hormones and lustful thoughts. He wasn't the least bit scared of any danger.
However, the moment the door opened, his eyes widened as he saw a familiar figure.
"Here's… Harley!!~"
