"Y-your highness! Even if your growth is unlike others, I cannot let you overstrain yourself." Gavin.
"You lost your Inheritance." Lawrence abruptly said.
Gavin flinched. Koa, Helix, and Jane shifted their gazes towards Gavin. Gavin began to look hesitant but reclaimed his stance, "That does not change the fact that you are still a toddler, your highness." he stood firm.
"It means someone has to get stronger. I can't always rely on my knights to protect me. And even if I don't train now, I would have to in the future. After all, all Prince has to go through the Royal or Imperial Training, correct? I'm just hastening my training." he remarked.
"You are correct, your highness. But are you sure you will train?" Jane spoke for Gavin- who was left speechless.
"There won't be any overstraining myself problems. As of the moment, my body cannot follow large footwork or any heavy lifting. As of the age of one, I must build my endurance, and while I am at it, I should cover my hand with calluses from wooden swords. That way, I will not have to prolong my training in the future. Are there any more complaints?"
'I can't take his highness seriously...' Jane looked away from Lawrence's eyes. 'He's too cute!'
'His highness is very adorable...' Helix gazed at Lawrence, smiling.
"Your highness..." Koa spoke.
"Yes, sir Koa?" Lawrence.
Koa stepped closer and stared intently at Lawrence, "can I rub your cheeks?" he dared!
Lawrence, flustered, took a step backward and covered his face. "W-what?" he asked in disbelief.
"I mean! You're so very adorable, your highness!" Koa exclaimed. Before he could continue his phrase, Jane punched Koa on his head.
"Don't dare, Koa!" she snapped. Jane turned to face the flustered Prince and lowered, "Can I rub your cheeks, your highness?" her eyes glowed.
"Hey! No fair!" Helix protested.
Lawrence stepped a few steps back and ran behind a column. His actions were so cute that the three knights laughed.
"Enough. You're scaring the Prince away." Gavin interrupted.
The three knights shifted their gazes at Gavin and glared. Jane spoke, "You have some explaining to do, Seargent."
Gavin stepped back. "U-uh..." he ran towards the column beside Lawrence and hid. "Your highness, I blame you." he chuckled.
Lawrence laughed, "I just wanted to train."
.
Jane and Helix were inside the Weaponry and Armory House, finding a suitable wooden sword for Lawrence. Koa indulged himself in training against the manikin and his sword. Meanwhile, Gavin and Lawrence were sitting, facing each other.
"Your highness, how did you know I lost my Inheritance?"
"I saw you did a spell and collapsed. You looked pale, very pale. It was like you lost all of your blood. I noticed wind coming out from you, and that was it. I guessed that you lost your Inheritance." Lawrence explained.
Gavin looked at him, "How did you learn about Magical Inheritance?"
Lawrence smiled, "After I was a few months old, I used to crawl and watch Mum do the cleaning with her Element. After a while, she told me all about the things she knew about Magical Inheritance and shared it with me."
Gavin strangely looked at him, "Are you a demon?"
Lawrence stood abruptly, "Who's a demon!"
"Excuse me, your highness." Gavin chuckled. "It doesn't seem like I'm talking to a toddler at all. And what the three knights said was true. When you sound so confident and speak so fluently, you only sound so very adorable to us." his chuckle turned into a gentle laugh.
Lawrence pouted.
"Prince Lawrence, do you perhaps know about geniuses?"
"Are they those who were born with the talent of intelligence?" Lawrence asked.
"You aren't wrong," Gavin nodded. "But... these geniuses I'm referring to aren't those types."
Lawrence had a slight frown while his gaze intensifies towards Gavin, emitting curiosity.
"The 19th Sub-Apostle, Legend Historian, discovered something. This great man explored the different Empires of Great Aqes. Upon his journey, he encountered newborn babies with the capability to speak fluently and have a mature mindset. It is a super rare occurrence, but it wasn't impossible. He found 23 strange kids with intelligence far exceeding normal. He then created his study about these children and formally introduced them as the Geniuses. The days with you felt different, and as I see you now, I don't see you as a toddler but a teen."
"Then is it similar to being a prodigy?" Lawrence asked.
Gavin shook his head, "The sub-apostle did two different studies. The Prodigies and Geniuses. They were similar but different. Geniuses were born with extraordinary learning capacity, memory, maturity, and talent. Meanwhile, Prodigies do not possess an immediate maturity as soon as they are born. Instead, at the age of 5 to 9, they show an enormous talent. I was considered a prodigy at the age of six."
"How were you considered as one?" Lawrence asked.
Gavin smiled, "The first time a swordmaster visited our home, he brought some swords. He was a friend of Father, a Teacher from Hesperia. At that time, my father wanted help from his friend to teach my older brother swords. So he did. During one of their lessons, I snuck in and tried to carry one of his swords.
"I ended up lifting it without effort and was already swinging to my heart's content. I felt rejuvenated, exhilarated. Like the other part of me was the sword, and that I was complete. Each swing I took felt natural and blissful. I continued to swing since I thought that the swordmaster was lecturing my older brother at that moment. But they were done. My brother and the swordmaster saw what I had done and were left speechless." Gavin laughed. "But that was it." he finished his story and looked at Lawrence.
It wasn't just Lawrence that was there. It was Helix, Jane, Koa, and Lawrence, all with their eyes of admiration and curiosity. Gavin was startled and fell from where he sat. He abruptly stood up and tried to look calm and collected, he coughed. But his ears were red. And sweat started to roll from his forehead.
The four laughed at the dimwitted action he displayed in front of them. "What a funny Seargent, right, your highness?" Helix joked, laughing harder.
"W-why didn't you tell me you guys were there?" Gavin stuttered.
The four ignored his sentence and talked to each other, "Seargent never talked about himself nor even bragged about his achievement. Seeing him so emotionally indulged in telling a story was such a sight to behold!" Jane laughed as she spoke at Lawrence.
"He was always cold and distant, but whenever he's drunk, he would always give us a speech of how much he cares about us," Koa remarked, nodding with Helix.
"But the next morning, he would already be so cold and distant while he pukes all the alcohol from that night!" Helix added, laughing.
"S-shut up!" Gavin interrupted his face red as a strawberry.
Everyone laughed. Then Lawrence spoke, "But what happened afterwards?" he asked Gavin. The three knights were also curious. They stared at Gavin intently, begging for a continuation.
Gavin looked away, "I-uh. The swordmaster immediately spoke with my parents and brought me to one of the academies in Hesperia."
Jane frowned, "That's it? What happened to your brother?"
Gavin glared, "That's for next time! Did you happen to see any suitable wooden sword for his highness?" he smoothly changed the topic.
Jane sighed, "I didn't. I only found this wooden sword. But it was too heavy and bulky for his highness."
"Then let's try to give it to his highness. Maybe he would swing it as Seargent did!" Helix suggested, laughing. Jane and Koa laughed along and then stared at each other, nodding.
"S-stop!" Gavin took the wooden sword from them. "His highness is still frail. I'll shorten it!" he excused.
Lawrence laughed along with the other knights. He then noticed the sun rising from the distance. It was a beautiful sunrise. The last months he was in St. Apple Villa, he had never seen the sunset nor sunrise. Every midnight, he would only see the beautiful galaxy filled with stars. Then it hit him. Lawrence was happy to be outside and talking with the knights.
"You guys can call me Lawrence." he smiled at the knights.
