Finally it was on to the main attraction. Race and class were both important. Perhaps the most important, but for me the main attraction was skills! Even the most powerful class was useless without skills! And the beginners skill draw had a chance for Unique ranked skills! The chance was small, but why not me? Why could I not draw a legendary ranked skill?

A huge row of hundreds of cards appeared before me. All of them were skills I could use, all of them belonged to my class!

I once again relied on my tried and true method of closing my eyes and choosing at random. It was the ultimate strategy!

Using my ultimate strategy I quickly chose 3 skills. These skills would be the foundation of my character! Everyone knew the free skills at character creation determined your path of growth.

The first card revealed itself. A faint green light shone. It was uncommon! The first ability i obtained was uncommon, this was a good sign. It was widely known that skills would reveal themselves with the least rare being first, and the rarest last.

The order of rarity from bottom to top was common (white), uncommon (green), Rare (blue), Unique (Black), Legendary (silver), and finally mythical (Gold). All but mythical and legendary ranked skills were available from the beginners draw, and the lowest I had received was uncommon!

[Elemental Mastery (fire)] (Uncommon)(Passive) Rank 1/50. Increases damage of fire type spells by 5% and lowers cost by 1%.

This skill was a must have for elementalists. In the beginning the skill was weak, but as it leveled up it became extremely strong, with an increase of 250% and -50% cost at max level. To get this skill as a beginner skill was already an amazing boon.

The second card soon revealed itself. The color shown was black! A unique Skill! This meant that I would not only recieve 1, but 2 unique ranked skills!

[Cultivated Fire] (Unique) (Passive/Active) rank 1/5.

Raises your maximum Affinity with fire element by 1 rank, but lowers current affinity to the minimum standard. Absorb different flames to raise affinity.

I had mixed feelings about this skill. Affinity was essential for an Elementalist. Affinity influenced how powerful your element was, and your level of control over the element. There were a total of 6 levels of affinity. Low, medium low, medium, Medium high, High, and perfect. My affinity had originally been one step from the top, which allowed my to step into the realm of firelords.

This skill had raised my maximum affinity to perfect, putting my potential on the same level as the elemental overlords. Unfortunately it had also lowered my affinity to the lowest possible selection. I would be lucky to even get a spark to emerge with my current talent. I sighed, A higher potential was definitely worth the struggle.

I looked on eagerly as the third and final ability appeared. The first ability to appear had been amazing, and the second gave me unlimited potential, but this skill would be the one that made or broke me. It was the skill with the highest worth, even if it was at the same rank as the second skill.

Black light appeared, tinted with a light flashing of gold. A quasi legendary skill! This skill had almost reached the potential of a legendary ranked skill, but must have barely failed to meet the standard. It's loss was my gain, and I eagerly read into the skill.

The excitement in my eyes slowly drained, and eventually became disdain as I read the skill. What kind of broken skill was this? How could this even be considered Quasi- Legendary???

[Breath of the Phoenix](Passive) Fire is a raging destruction that obliterates all in its path. From this destruction a unique existence has risen to revitalize the land. Your flames take on the holy attribute, healing your allies, but only deal half damage to your foes.

FUCK! I screamed. I, WHO HAS THE POTENTIAL OF AN ELEMENTAL OVERLORD HAVE BEEN REDUCED TO BEING A HEALER? THIS IS PATHETIC.

Rage filled me as I read the ability over and over again. The skill could not even be leveled! My damage had been permanently nerfed, my current power plummeted even further. I could only curse the gods. Not only did you take away my dick, but you gave me the potential to be what? the greatest elemental healer? Fuck you.

As I was cursing the abilities the system had gifted me I realized the biggest problem. The system had not actually given me any skills that I could actually use! The closest I had was the ability to absorb flames to grow my affinity! Damn you System! You not only took my dick and made me impotent, but you also made me useless! FUCK.
