Ava - Olivia's Forbidden Love

The next day I bring out my nail polish collection, nail polish remover complete with top coat and base coat, to Olivia's room. Mary-Anne is out with Jedidiah so I take this opportunity to spend time with Olivia and just bond over nail polish.

It's 10am and we have already had breakfast together with my family. So I go over to the guest room and knock on the door.

"Olivia, this is Ava can I come in?"

"Yeah, come on in." She calls out from the other side.

I twist the handle and push open the door. I find her at the desk with the laptop open typing away, so I make myself comfortable on the bean chair and put my nail polish on the little table near the bed.

"I was wondering if you would like to paint your nails together with me."

"Sounds like fun, hold up I'm almost done," she says before closing the laptop.

She sits on the bed and stares at the nail polish.

"Wow, you've got quite a collection there."

"Yeah", I say giggling. "Guilty".

"No it's great! You have lots of colour choices."

"I think I like Cotton Candy Pink." She says lifting the bottle and checking out the label at the back.

"That would look nice on you," I say agreeing with her.

"I think I'll go sky blue and silver."

"Nice", she replies.

We start painting our nails and I notice Olivia is a little quiet so I ask her questions.

"Could you tell me more about Andreas, what's he like?"

"Oh, he is dreamy", she says this with a huge smile on her face.

"We met at one of Daddy's business meetings, we were attending a conference together at the Twilight Plaza Complex in New York."

" He sat next to me during dinner after the meeting and we just started talking and things took off from there."

"He has the most unusual eye colour it's like dark violet eyes, if the sunlight hits it right you can see these gold flecks in them. He is at least 6 feet tall and has jet black hair, he is also tan like the colour of chocolate and that's because his mother is Spanish from Spain and his father is Brazilian."

"Ava, he really is the most wonderful human being who has ever entered my life!"

"I see", I say with a knowing smile.

"Yes, it's a pity Daddy did not approve." She says suddenly looking so downtrodden.

"Daddy wants me to make a good match with one of his business partners sons and I am dreading it, Ava. I don't know when he will decide to put his foot down on it. All I know is that it will be soon." She says all this suddenly staring out the window and looking so forlorn and lost that I want to hug and tell it's going to be ok.

"Don't worry about it, if you ever need any help from me just let me know I'll try my best to be there for you," I tell her soothingly.

"That's very kind of you Ava, thanks. You and your family have been wonderful to me as well and I will always appreciate that."

"So why can't you explain to your Dad about how you feel about Andreas?"

"He will never accept him, see Andreas also works for Law Enforcement, like an Agent he works on the right side of the law and my Dad well let's just say he does not like that sort of thing."

"He believes it would be dangerous for me to keep in contact with him because of the nature of his work and I used to tell my Dad to his face that's rich coming from someone like you. He never really pays attention to me so our relationship is a bit strained, I mean one thing and he means another."

"That's sad", I say consoling her. "But I think you should not give up, I'm sure someday your Dad will not be able to deny him, especially if you do something that makes him proud."

"You're right, I can't think of anything except taking over the business for him which is something he would want me to do."

"Daddy is a top gun at Bryce and Cyson Company, it's a business company dealing with all sorts of things from oil and gas to metals and diamonds." "Mostly deep earth products or so they call it."

"Enough about me though, let's talk about what you. What is your Dad like? I mean from what I've noticed he cares a lot about you and your sister."

"Yes he does," I reply to her.

"My Dad has always supported both of us in the decisions we made from our subject study to boyfriends we wanted to date and careers we wanted to pursue, dreams and goals. You name it he was always there when we needed him."

"He was busy too when he was working as a lecturer at Kingston University. He taught Statistical Analysis and Advance Mathematics."

"Yeah that's pretty much it, never a dull moment with Dad."

"You're so lucky, Ava," she says squeezing my hand. "I like the way you have painted some with blue and some with silver", she says inspecting my hand.

"Oh I forgot to mention, I have a younger brother named Joel. He's 10 years old, looks like my Dad, taken care of by a Nanny. My Dad checks on him whenever he can. So yeah I'm grateful I've got a sibling even if he is still so young."

"You and Joel must have been through a lot without a mother by your side." I say commenting.

"Yes, we have but we have come through. Thank God for grandmas and Nannies that have taken care of us throughout the years," adds Olivia.

"So any news from your Dad?" I ask her.

"Yes, he is coming over here. He should be here this week, Sunday. I hope you don't mind that I will be staying with you for a week."

"Of course, I don't mind, you're more than welcome here," I say.

"Thank you," She replies.
