Chapter 1 Becoming a Demon I

"Good work and good night Sir. See you tomorrow." (Alex)

"Goodbye, Alex. See you tomorrow." (Boss)

After bidding his boss goodbye, Alex flogged down a taxi and headed home. He whipped out his phone and checked for the twentieth time today.

'Still no updates, huh.'

Alex liked reading web novels and among them, his favorite one is 'Reverend Insanity'. It is a good novel. Everything about the novel is almost perfect, the plot, setting, characters, pacing, style, etc. As someone who had tried writing a novel once he knows how difficult it can be and how much effort the author must have put in to bring it to such great heights.

Reading such an excellent novel he immediately became a crazy fan of the novel and especially the character Gu Yue Fang Yuan. But unfortunately, such a good novel was banned. It seems that due to some reasons the Author-Kun got royally screwed and as such the novel was put on hiatus. As soon as Alex heard about it online, he did everything he could to help and support the author but unfortunately, nothing came out of it. And as such, the good novel had been put on indefinite hiatus. In the future even if the hiatus was removed it was doubtful if the Author-Kun will put the same amount of efforts into the novel, before the book was put on hiatus the book could have reached about five thousand chapters probably from how the author was writing, but now even reaching three thousand chapters is doubtful as the author has probably lost interest in this book already due the interruption.

"Sir, we have arrived." (Cab driver)

"Oh. Okay, here you go keep the change." (Alex)

The cab driver's voice pulled Alex out from his thoughts. He paid the fare and got out of the cab, he kept refreshing the page hoping that there would be a surprise. Foolishly he thought that maybe if he refreshed it enough times there would be an update from the author, that a new chapter would be published. But no such thing happened, instead what happened was –

"Wha-, PLEASE WAIT, SIR, YOU ARE GETTING OFF FROM THE WRONG SIDE!!!" (Cab driver)

Alex heard the cab driver anxiously shouting from behind him. And then –

Screech…...

The last thing he saw was the headlights of the van that rammed into him and then he lost consciousness.

"Fang Yuan, quietly hand over the Spring Autumn Cicada and I'll give you a quick death!"

"Old bastard Fang stop attempting to resist anymore, today all of the major factions of justice have combined just to destroy your evil lair. This place is already covered in inescapable nets, this time you will be decapitated!"

Alex could hear people yelling and shouting. He opened his heavy eyelids with great difficulty and saw that he was standing behind a person wearing deep green robes except that robes had been torn to shreds. The person's hair was disheveled, and his entire body was covered in blood.

He looked around and saw they were surrounded by people. As he had just woken up, he was feeling lightheaded, but he could hear the people shouting something about 'Fang Yuan', 'Demon' and 'Spring Autumn Cicada'.

Hearing that he became completely awake. The last thing he remembered was being hit by a van.

So, where was he now? He must probably still be dreaming, as the novel 'Reverend Insanity' is the only thing that has been on his mind these past few days he is mostly dreaming about it as a result.

He looked down at his hands and feet and realized that it was transparent like the ghost that you see in the movies. He took a deep breath and calmed himself down.

'Okay, this is probably me dreaming. Yup, that's it. In a few minutes I will be waking up from this nice little dream and everything will go back to normal. Yup!! Yup!!' Alex thought to himself.

Suddenly the guy in front of him that is 'Fang Yuan' started laughing. He got startled and raised his head and looked at 'Fang Yuan', out of all the books that he had read Fang Yuan was his most favorite character ever.

"Wicked demon, what are you laughing about?"

"Be careful everyone, the demon is going to attack before his final moments!"

"Hurry up and surrender the Spring Autumn Cicada!!"

He heard the group of people surrounding Fang Yuan shout at him urging him to give up his painstakingly refined Gu. Alex knows what will happen next.

And as expected the group of warlords surged forward, at that time Alex also threw himself at Fang Yuan, even though it was probably just a dream he wants to follow Fang Yuan and see what he does next with his own eyes as his loyal fan, with a bang, both Fang Yuan and Alex were engulfed in a blinding surge of energy.

And currently unknown to Fang Yuan and Alex, Alex was devouring Fang Yuan's consciousness and memories while being carried by Spring Autumn Cicada, as only one person can travel to the past, the Heaven's will in Spring Autumn Cicada had decided that person to be Alex.
