Mariam was known as a Mortal Imp, a type of Imp that isn't a demon but a separate species in and of itself. They were completely different species. For example, Mariam's kind could be born of a human mother and a demon father if he uses his powers to make himself develop Imp'n Sperm, but not the other way around. These imps lived in the middle ground in the mortal realm instead of the demon realm. V never wanted children, especially not with an Imp Woman. Instead, the demons used witches and warlocks to invade their country and enslave them, creating a world where the native inhabitants of the land adopted humans and Imps were servants to demons. Mariam knew she was different and that she was special. She was also a reflection of her mother, who was special too. Mariam knew she could be anything she wanted to be if she worked hard enough.
