Marashi, a retired Chunin from Kakashi's generation, was a business owner until a soul from Earth took over his body and gained the [Computer Cafe System]. He doesn't have too much time until Orochimaru invades the village, so what will he do? Play games, of course! From selling hours on the computer and snacks, he could upgrade his shop and his stats! How will the Shinobi World react to modern games and full-immersive VR versions of them? "...This is just plagiarism." "Yeah, I guess."
As Captain Price called out again, Hayate hid behind a container as gunshots were fired on their location.
Hayate peeked out once they subsided and aimed at the previous person who killed him unloading several bullets from a distance before a few hit their mark.
This time, as he survived longer, the chopper unloaded a hailstorm of bullets, killing everyone.
The shock on his face was evident.
'What kind of gun was that?' He wanted to try it out sometime. That was awesome.
"Refueling. Evac in 10." The helicopter flew away.
"Copy. Walcroft, Griffen cover our 6, the rest of you on me." Captain Price pushed forward towards one of the doors.
Gaz whipped out a shotgun.
"I like to keep this for close encounters." He cocked it.
Hayate gazed at the gun that looked significantly different from his. He wondered when he'd try out a gun like that. Naturally, he didn't ask for it. He was also liking his MP5.
"On my mark" Captain Price twisted the circular handle. "Go!" He opened it. Gaz pushed in with Hayate behind him. Harrison and Price followed in after them.
"Check those corners!" The captain ordered as they cleared the interior.
"Clear left."
"Clear right."
"Hallway clear, push up!" Captain Price continued to the objective.
Hayate, wanting to lead as he got more comfortable, went up first making sure to clear his corners.
He went down a flight of stairs and followed along the path and finally noticed movement down the hall.
Aiming his gun, he took a few shots killing one, and aimed for the left. However…
Hayate hadn't reloaded his gun once and only took burst shots to kill a few enemies. He heard his gun click signifying that he had no more bullets in his mag.
While he was taught that switching to his sidearm was faster than reloading, reality and practice were two different things without field experience.
He completely fumbled, dropping the empty mag on the floor and scrambling with his vest pockets for a new mag.
Naturally, he was headshotted for standing still.
The death screen came once more.
Switching to your sidearm is always faster than reloading.
Hayate inwardly sighed at such a rookie mistake, but he could hardly be blamed. This was an entirely new form of combat and in a body void of chakra. There were naturally going to be some hardships and adjustments.
He came to at the top of the stairs and headed down. Hayate dropped his almost empty mag and reloaded a new one.
Once he was back to where he died, this time, the enemies dropped like flies.
A few more peaked out, but with Hayate posted up, he took them down with ease along with his teammates.
"Clear, push up!" Captain Price ordered as they rounded the corner to the left.
They finally made it to the shipping containers area.
"Standby, on my go." Captain Price grabbed a flashbang and threw it. "Flashbang out."
It went off.
"Go!"
Hayate wasted no time and swung the corner and looked right. He saw someone down near the stairs and took aim. Shots went off and he killed one. Remembering his past mistake, he rushed down the stairs and took cover. Checking his mag, it still had a third of max capacity so he slotted it back in.
He heard bullets near him and noticed that an enemy was close to his cover and Price took him down.
"Let's keep it moving Soap." Captain Price urged him forward and Hayate took the lead.
He moved to the right near shipping containers and an enemy aimed a pistol at him at close range.
Hayate instinctively lowered his body and shoved him with his shoulder into the container then unloading shots into his body. He slid down and died.
"Nice reflexes, Soap." Captain Price complimented.
He naturally felt good that he didn't die in another unexpected situation.
"Thanks, captain," Hayate responded, seeing no reason to not respond.
They made their way to the other end finding no one else.
Another door greeted them.
"Stack up." Captain Price moved near the door and Gaz taking the right side. Hayate just aimed at the door.
Price kicked open the door and Gaz went in followed by Hayate clearing his left and right.
They made their way up the stairs and Hayate made sure to reload as he felt there would be another fight.
Making their way across the catwalk, there was movement on the opposite side.
"Movement right," Gaz called out.
"Open fire." Captain Price took aim and so did the others.
Hayate got one and the rest were taken down.
The team went down the stairs at the far end of the area and noticed more enemies.
Gaz got one with his shotgun and the rest unloaded their bullets into the enemies that overextended.
Hayate pushed up and cleared the right then left, but saw someone aiming at him. He immediately ducked back behind cover as bullets richocheted near him.
"Tangos left!" He informed the team as he heard them refer to enemies as 'tangos'.
"Throw a flash, Soap!" Captain Price was right behind him as were the others.
Taking one, he pulled the pin and threw it while behind cover.
After a bang, they all pushed through.
Hayate got a headshot on the guy aiming at him and took down another before ducking behind cover after making his way through the door.
"Good stuff, Soap." Gaz laughed as he pushed behind him.
Naturally, the person in question couldn't help but feel happy. He hadn't had this much fun in a long time.
They were interrupted as there was quite a lot of gunfire on their location. There were too many.
"Soap, Gaz. Take the left. Harrison on me." Price threw a flash to the right.
After a bang, Hayate and Gaz rushed to the left and posted up on cover that protected them from the right side.
"Flash out." Gaz pulled another flash and it went off.
They both peeked out and unloaded. The enemies dropped.
Hayate dropped down to reload.
"Soap, catwalk!" Gaz warned with panic.
He didn't mess up this time and swapped to his sidearm taking aim.
The problem was that he didn't have much experience using a smaller gun and his aim wasn't great.
He shot the enemy in the arm but, in return, he was hit in the shoulder.
Even if he experienced it before, the pain was still intense.
Gaz took out his sidearm and finished him off. He immediately got out bandages to wrap around his shoulder to stop the bleeding.
"Thanks." Hayate took in a deep breath at the pain.
"No problem, mate. You saved my ass." Gaz helped him up and they kept pushing through.
With his shoulder injury, he could hardly move his arm without extreme pain, so he held his pistol.
"Clear left." Gaz informed.
"Clear right." Captain Price finished the rest off and they regrouped. He noticed Soap's injury but didn't say anything since he appeared to be mostly fine.
"I'm getting a strong reading here, sir." Gaz put away a device and opened the container in front of them.
Hayate saw some kind of rectangular box with a yellow symbol.
"Hmm, it's in Arabic. Baseplate, this is Bravo Six. We've found it. Ready to secure package for transport." Captain Price radioed in.
"No time. Two bogies are headed your way fast. Take what you can and get out of there."
Everyone was on edge at that.
"Soap, grab the manifesto and let's go." Price looked at him and he nodded.
He made his way in and saw some kind of document. Hayate secured it in the small bag on his back.
"Alright, everyone. Let's move! Doubletime!" Captain Price started moving and the rest followed.
However, there was a warning of being fired upon before Hayate was blown off his feet as an explosion of fire and smoke consumed his vision.
He hit his head really hard and felt disorientated. Hayate could hardly hear the words coming from Captain Price's mouth as a hand pulled him up.
"On your feet, soldier! We are leaving!"
Hayate felt adrenaline consume him as he ran behind his captain.
He could hardly comprehend the various chatter in his ear as he booked it. The slippery floor, the tilting of the boat…it was quite stressful and nerve-racking. He forgot he was in a game.
They made it topside and it was incredibly hard to maneuver as the boat was quite slanted almost in the ocean, especially with no chakra to stick to the surface, but he managed with some difficulty.
"Jump for it!"
Hayate lunged at the helicopter, but he was slipping along with the intense pain in his shoulder making it harder to grip.
"Gotcha!" Captain Price grabbed onto him and pulled him inside.
They flew away.
Hayate just looked on with relief as the boat sunk into the water.
As he got a minute to gather himself, it was incredibly exhilarating. The shooting, hiding behind cover, flashbangs, the teamwork, and the escape.
He was truly mystified at how technology could possibly do this. It felt like real life and on real missions!
But…
A screen appeared in front of him.
[Your game time has expired. Saving progress. Exiting VR.]
Hayate was ejected from the game and immediately felt the chakra within his body. He took the helmet off and put the Game Card in his wallet from the table.
He walked over to Marashi.
"How did you make all this?" Hayate assumed it was him since he'd never heard of anything like these devices and that game was so realistic that he wouldn't be able to tell the difference from the real world if not for the different setting and lack of chakra.
"Trade secret, did you want to load more on the card and play some more?" Marashi, of course, wouldn't say anything about his system or its effects.
"I'll load more, but I have a mission to get to." He could hardly believe that time flew by so quickly.
Hayate gave 1,500 Ryo to Marashi for 3 hours of game time which he loaded onto the card before bidding farewell.
As for what Marashi was doing?
He was reading Icha Icha. How could he not after hearing so much about it in the series? His previous body didn't read it, but he certainly will. Hayate was busy gaming at the time so he left for a short bit and returned. Nothing would happen to his store anyway with the protection.
Naturally, he got the next books in the series as well.
Marashi also didn't have any customers in the hour but it was still early for most people and his store is located on the path to the Hokage Tower, prime real estate for a shinobi equipment business.
He also wondered what would be the next game. A moba? Another shooter? RTS?
There were a lot of possibilities.
Now that Hayate was gone, he went to his Upgrade tab.
[5 PCs/VR Helmets]
1,000 CC Points
He bought it and the store lit up from the inside as five more PCs appeared.
After that, he went to the Snack tab and bought Mountain Dew for another 1,000 CC Points
Marashi bought a Mountain Dew with his own savings and sat back down with his book.
Another hour went by until another customer walked in.
Actually, it was more like 4 customers.
Kakashi, Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura.
+++
"Kakashi-sensei, when can we go on a real mission? Walking dogs isn't a mission!" Naruto harrumphed in annoyance.
Sasuke didn't say anything, but after two days of D-rank missions. He was already over it.
"Quiet, Naruto!" Sakura berated even if she also didn't like them. She wanted some peace and quiet after hanging around mangy mutts for two hours.
"Now now, these missions are important, Naruto." Kakashi placated but didn't seem genuine given that his face was in his iconic book.
Seeing that Kakashi didn't care, Naruto got more annoyed, but then his eyes noticed a store he hadn't recognized. That was saying something since he typically did pranks and ran from shinobi in the village. This place was also close to the Hokage Tower which was even more unusual.
"Computer Cafe? What's that, Kakashi-sensei?" Naruto pointed.
Kakashi looked over and lowered his book in surprise.
'Isn't this where Marashi's store is? What's going on?' Kakashi decided to check it out.
"Let's see." That's all he said as he walked over and the kids, who had nothing better to do at the moment, went inside.
It's a quick stop, anyway.
What's the harm?

Omake: The Third Hokage and Danzo are at it again (CS:GO)(Dust 2)
"Hiruzen! I'm telling you that rushing B is the correct tactic here!" Danzo was outraged that he was completely dismissed.
"Danzo. Playing default and waiting for picks is the better plan and we can strategize off of that." He naturally thought rushing B was too risky.
"That's far too passive. Rushing B will absolutely work!" He countered.
"Danzo, they are on a buy round and had guns that give a lot bonus money per kill. We all died! They could have an AWP watching tunnel! It's too risky!" Hiruzen shook his head.
"As long as we trade and use our utility, then we will take B. It seems even in-game, you're quite soft." Danzo remarked with scorn.
"Danzo! I am the Hokage! We are playing for picks!" Hiruzen, evoking such a divine mandate, got his way, while their teammates sweatdropped knowing that this is the 27th time this happened. Mind you, they've been playing only for 5 games!
"You'll regret this decision, Hiruzen!" Danzo, like a two-bit kiddy villain, uttered those ominous words.
Hiruzen, in fact, did not regret it, as the opponent rushed up cat from site and died. Whether Danzo and another teammate played for picks at B was on purpose, he would naturally deny it!
On the other side.
"Naruto, you idiot! Why did you rush up cat? I was holding long with an AWP, I needed you to cover it not rush it!" Sasuke was infuriated.
"I thought I could catch them off guard. What's your problem, you bastard?!" Naruto yelled into their team comms.
"Hold it, Naruto! Stop rushing on CT!" Sakura was also annoyed with him.
Naruto was quite good on T as an entry-fragger but a nightmare to deal with on CT.
"Just hang back a bit next time, Naruto." Kakashi didn't want to escalate things.
"Ah, whatever." Naruto gave in.
He rushed long two rounds after.

Yo! I hope you liked the chapter!
I know, realistically, completing the first mission won't take an hour even with deaths. You could argue that Hayate took his time but I also didn't want to drag it.
His hour would likely be up after the Kamarov mission or made some headway until the next, but he was mostly just an introductory character. The main cast is where it really is where things get poppin'. That doesn't mean he won't appear, there is Co-op after all, but I didn't want to drag it with him.
Otherwise, we'd get Team 7 in another 2-3 chapters. Best to get the ball rolling!
Thanks for the support and I'll see you next time!
Another Omake in the next chapter. You can guess what it is, I'm sure.
