“Uh…yeah,” I replied. “Pretty much.”

It had to be clear to both of them by now that this had been the true purpose of my trip home, and that Helen and especially Greg had known in advance about what was going down. I sneaked a glance at Dad. He was never easy to read, and that was especially true when he was making a point of keeping his feelings to himself. Even so, there might have been an air of resignation around his eyes. He didn’t seem particularly tense, at least.

I expelled a soft sigh. I was out of the closet. It was done, and the world hadn’t come to an end. And ona less hyperbolic note, I didn’t appear to have lost my family. Dad’s full feelings on the subject were still a mystery, but he wasn’t projecting any knee-jerk revulsion, and as far as I was concerned, that was a win.

“That’s great!” Mom exclaimed. She pointed at my phone on the table next to me. “Pictures. I want tosee pictures.”
