Chapter 1: I died, so I lived.

"You died. It was my mistake, so sorry 'bout that. Here's a voucher for a reincarnation."

Choi Jia stared at the glowing piece of paper that has the word 'reincarnation' in it. It looked like those vouchers you get from online shopping platforms, except it is gold and glowing. She took the voucher from the strange man who was offering it.

She scanned the man from head-to-toe. His long, flowy hair was as white as the clouds they were standing on, and it complements his deep golden eyes. He looks relatively young; maybe what a man would look like in his early thirties. He was dressed in a white cloth, and over all, he looked like an angel-- that is if only he could wipe off the mischievous look on his face.

"Um...so...you're telling me I'm dead..?" Jia asked as she looks around the space which looked like heaven.

"Unfortunately." The man said nonchalantly.

"This must be a dream right?!" Jia looked like she was about to cry any minute from now. Everything was a little bit too much for her to take in. But who wouldn't cry in this kind of situation? An unknown man suddenly appeared in front of her after she woke up and told her she's dead because of his mistake.

And it wasn't just that; Jia was a genius 18-year old highschooler who was about to graduate in a few months. She was accepted to the top university of the country with a perfect score in CSAT. A lot of big companies offered her scholarships so she doesn't have to worry about her expenses anymore and she could help her famiy with it too. Her life was finally getting for the better after enduring several hardships she had to experience because of poverty. But she died. Not because it was her fate, but rather, a mistake from the heavens.

"Yeah, you're dead. A meteorite fell on your head while you were on your way home with your friends. I was playing with Brownie here, but I threw the ball a little bit too far that it became a meteorite that happened to fall on your head." The man pointed at the golden retriever that was sleeping on a couch-looking cloud in the corner. He then patted her on her shoulder, looking at her with pity.

Jia was too shocked that she couldn't react. She was just standing still, staring at the voucher she was holding."This couldn't be..." she wanted to deny what the man said but she remembered that she was walking with her friends when she suddenly felt a big rock dropping on her head before she became unconscious.

She took a deep breath and let out a long sigh.

Regret, anger, and sadness. She tried settling all these surging emotions at once so she can get back on track. There's nothing she can do about it anymore anyway. Death is inevitable, and sudden. It can happen to anyone, and she is no exception from that.

Letting go of things is Jia's specialty after all. Her dad had a huge debt because of his failed businesses, and even though her mother works several jobs to help pay off the debt, it still wasn't enough. Because of her family's situation, and being the oldest out of 6 kids, she had to settle for less all her life. She sacrificed a lot so her younger siblings could at least live a better life than she did. Instead of living the life of a normal teenager, she was cooped up in a library, studying for competitions that offer big prizes so she could give it to her family. She was envious of other kids, but she knew she didn't have the privilege to live a life free of worries. She had to grow a little bit faster than others so she could survive.

Jia held onto the voucher tighly and walked closer to the strange man.

"May I ask what your name is?"

"Name? Hmm, well..let's say my name is Ethan." he chuckled. Jia was puzzled by his reaction, but she didn't pay any mind to it.

"Alright, Ethan. You gave me this glowy gold voucher for 'reincarnation'. What exactly is this for?"

"It is exactly as it says. Reincarnation. You may choose to go to heaven if you want, because this is not yet heaven but simply a space I created for the both of us to have a conversation like this, or you can use that voucher to live again for the second time. Oh, but you can only reincarnate as another person. You cannot turn back time and reincarnate as yourself. It goes against the law of the universe." Jia was intrigued by what Ethan has said. As a genius, she was always curious about things that are unfamiliar to her, especially topics like heaven and reincarnation because she is already knowlegeable about science and worldly things.

What would heaven look like if it doesn't look like the space they are in right now? What does being reincarnated feel like?

Whether she choose going to heaven, or getting reincarnated, she thought she wouldn't regret any of the choices because choosing one will satisfy her curiousity.

"That's interesting. Going to heaven immediately will rob me of my chances to live again, but if I reincaranate, I still have the chance to go to heaven if I die again." Jia looked at the voucher and smiled. "Ethan, how can I use this?"

Ethan had a huge smile painted on his face. He was amused, and interested. How can someone not be afraid of death? A lot of people refused reincarnation because the thought of dying again for the second time is terrifying to them.

"You just write the code written on the back of the paper to this form. The voucher will take effect once you sign this." A white paper and pen suddenly appeared on his hands, then a white table and chair afterwards. Jia took the paper and started filling up the form.

It looked like an ordinary contract at first. She wrote down her name, age and date. It talked about the conditions that Ethan mentioned before. But the second part of the contract intrigued Jia.

'Choose a world to live in.'

1. An ordinary world similar to Earth. (Easy)

2. A game world. (Normal)

3. A world of magic. (Hard)

All the choices were interesting to her, but the 3rd choice was what caught her attention the most.

She has already experienced living on Earth, and she knows about games too. So she thought that world of magic is the best choice, because magic never existed back on Earth. She put a check in the box beside the third choice, then proceeded read the rest of the term.

Before she wrote the code and signed the contract, she turned to Ethan to ask about something she's been curious since before.

"Ethan, before I go, can I ask about something?"

"If it's something I can answer."

"Is my family doing well right now? "

Ethan paused for a moment, then gave her a faint smile. "You are still worried about them even though you're already dead." he sighed under his breath. "They are devastated about your death, but they will be okay. You do not have to worry about them anymore. I coordinated with the heavens to bless them more than the normal person.

"Bless them? Will they be able to settle their debts with it?" Jia asked.

"I can't say anything about their future, but they will be in good place because it will be their future." Ethan paused for a moment, as if he was hesitant to say something, but he continues anyway. "Actually, you were your parents and siblings greatest blessing. Now that you are gone, we have to replace the blessing the heavens gave them. Although, you being their greatest blessing may have been a curse for you. That's why the blessing that they are about to receive is great, and also the blessing I wil bestow upon you on your next life will be the greatest. This may not answer your question, but I hope this will ease your worries."

It was only then that Jia realized something. She will be a whole new person, and anything related to her on Earth, even her name, will be just something that is a part of her past. It was a bittersweet feeling, because as much as she loved being Choi Jia, she was also relieved to be freed from her busy and tiring life.

She lived, but not for herself.

"I understand. Thank you for answering my questions, Ethan." Jia gave Ethan a faint smile and proceeded to write the code and signed on it.

Suddenly, her "soul" started to fade while little golden lights floated around her. It started to spin around her faster; as if she was in the middle of a tornado. It may seem scary, but it was a beautiful sight to see.

"May you live your life to the fullest this time." Ethan smiled as he waved her goodbye.

The heavenly space started to vanish along with her. Everything turned into nothingness, and this was her last memory before she lost her conciousness.
