A Glimpse of my troubled childhood

I had slept well with no interruptions whatsoever. Thomas had not cried, the stupid lion did not purr and nothing attacked me. I could answer why monsters did not attack me. It was because I was in a hidden safe location but what I did not understand was why Thomas was quite. Was he dead? Oh no! I glanced at him and breathed a sigh of relief after seeing that he was breathing.

Why was the dumb lion so quite all of a sudden? Usually it would try to ruin my sleep by roaring and shouting at me but it wasn't now. I shook the pouch and a loud bellow followed.

"What are you playing you dumb cat?" I asked. "Why are you so quite for?"

"Hooman, leave me to rest in peace. I have let you rest in peace so allow me to do so as well."

I scrunched my face and raised an eyebrow. I then shook the pouch as violently as possible.

"Shut up you dumb cat. Let's see how you like getting your sleeping session ruined!" After shaking the pouch for God knows how long I laid it down.

It was time for me to fulfill the objective that I had come here for. From the pouch came tables, beakers, tupperware, syringes, scalpels, and all sorts of equipments.

I needed to create something. Something powerful. Considering that I was using the world Serpents eggshells it was bound to be. But then again they were a few million years old. It won't be as effective as using parts of the world Serpents scales or flesh but it would have to do for what I had in mind.

Breaking the eggshells were extremely difficult. More difficult than I thought that it would be. It was practically a punching bag that could not break. Eventually I managed to break the eggshells and crush them into powder.

I stored half of it away. From the remaining half I was going to use half of it to experiment. I already had a working theory but it still has not been proven yet and so it did exactly that. It was a good thing that I experimented as I managed to find several flaws in my theory and managed to correct them.

___________

I don't know how much time had passed by it was long. I was so focused on my research that I only changed Thomas's diaper after a long time and fed him what felt like a huge interval.

Despite that I had changed his diapers over 50 different times and fed him over 40 times.

I placed my hand on a beaker. Inside it was a murky blue syrup like liquid. I placed a drop of my blood inside it and proceeded to apply a large volt of electricity to the beaker.

The liquid started bubbling as if it was water that had been exposed to heat and a blue vapour started rising into the air. A small flame was lit in the beaker on top of the liquid.

Yes this was the chemical reaction that I had been waiting for. This was what I had been waiting for.

I used a small tentacle and grabbed the beaker and slowly yet carefully poured the liquid into a glass vial. Finally what I wanted was created. A poison. But not just any poison. A poison made by none other than me.

Despite it being a literal flame in a bottle it was actually a gaseous poison. It could be drunk and touched but once inside the body it was undetectable. Even when released from the vial it should theoretically speaking be undetectable.

Now I just needed to create an antidote which should not be too hard considering the fact that I created the poison.

After I had created the antidote I fed Thomas, cleaned him up and ate some fruits before going to sleep. I was really tired.

Atlas: Age 8

It was a bright sunny beautiful day. A warm breeze blew through the air and graced us with its presence. The green grass in the park was more illuminating than usual. For some reason today was a beautiful day and yet my heart was heavy. I did not know why. I had never felt anything like this before.

I felt a hand on my hair and I looked up to see my father. His face was not that handsome nor was it that forgettable. In a world filled with people trying to stand out, a person not trying to stand out stood out more.

He was a tall dark skinned fellow with bleached white waved hair. He had piercings on both ears and tattoos all over his body. He had a tear drop tattoo on his face and a giant tiger tattoo on his chest that I could see through his white vest. He wore sunglasses and white flip flops.

"Why do you look so worried son?" He asked. "What happened?"

I looked into his eyes that were covered with purple eye lenses.

"Nothing..." I replied. "I just have that feeling..."

My father smiled and got down on one knee and patted his other signalling for me to sit on it. I sat on his knee and looked at my mother who was sleeping under a tree in the shade with my younger brother.

"Are you talking about deja vu? I know it's a weird feeling but just remember, just because you have it, it does not mean that you can see the future. I made that mistake before."

I laughed. Knowing my father it probably was not a joke and he had tried to scam people as a seer or something of the sorts.

"No dad, I just... I have this feeling... that everything is going to come crashing down soon, and I just can't help but worry tha-"

"Son..." My father's voice turned serious all of a sudden. I looked up at him and into his eyes. "Your kid, don't worry. Even if the world is falling apart a child should not worry. That is one of the benefits of being a child so take advantage of it. Stop worrying and relax."

I nodded slowly and turned away from him. We both started at the few other people in the park. Several families were together enjoying there time together and each other's company. Dogs were barking, squirrels were stealing people's sandwiches and ants were crawling around people's picnic baskets.

"Did you know you can tell what someone's personality is like just from looking at their eyes?" My father asked.

"Really? Wow!" I said in amazement. "Can you do it?" I asked.

"Of course I can. I can even read you." Father looked to the bright sky and smiled. "You have this wanderers look in your eyes, like you don't know what the purpose of your existence is. You look like you just drift in the world like a boat without a sail."

"Is that a good thing?" I asked. I did not know what my father was talking about. I hated it when he want into these small rants that I never understood anything about.

"Yes, your a child. This is the look every child should have in there eyes."

"What about mother?" I asked. Although I did not know what he was talking about I found it entertaining.

"Your mother, she has the eyes of someone who is afraid but also the eyes of a liar." My father got me of my knee and placed both of them on the floor. He then pointed at a certain man with his eyes sitting on a bench wearing a suit while reading the newspaper.

"They have come to take me away son." He hugged me tightly and kissed me. I did not understand what was going on. Why was my father acting so emotional as if he was saying his final goodbye?

"Who? Who is taking you away? Why are you acting weird?" I asked while bewildered.

"Good bye son. I love both you and your brother. Take care of your brother..." My father hugged me even more tightly before letting go and looking me directly in the eye for the final time. "Go to your mother now and tell her she's a bitch."

My father stood up and walked away leaving me standing confused. I watched him sit down next to the guy on the bench. They exchanged a few words before the man in a grey suit pulled out a handcuff and placed them on my father's hands.

It was only at this point did I understand just what exactly was going on. I wanted to charge at them and demand that they let go of my father but my mother was holding me back.

She wasn't strong but I wasn't stronger heavy enough to cause her any trouble.
