Chapter 21

Ruby watches as the opening cutscene unfolds before her and her chat. The dramatic narration by Lady captivates her, and she finds herself drawn into the rich history of the Sparda legend.

Lady narrating: "You've heard of it, haven't you? The Legend of Sparda. When I was young my father would tell me stories about it. Long ago, in ancient times, a demon rebelled against his own kind for the sake of the human race. With his sword, he shut the portal to the demonic realm and sealed the evil entities off from our human world. But since he was a demon himself, his power was also trapped on the other side. I never believed it. I thought it was just a child's fairy tale. But I discovered that this so-called legend wasn't a myth at all. Sparda existed."

The scene shifts to the torrential downpour, Ruby's breath catches in her throat. The two figures, Dante and Vergil, move with such speed and ferocity that the rain itself seems to part around them. The contrast of their silvery white hair and the dark, moody atmosphere creates a striking visual.

Lady narrating: "How do I know? Well… I met the sons of Sparda—Both of them. Though the same blood of their father flowed through their veins, the two battled each other fiercely like arch enemies."

Ruby leans forward, her eyes glued to the screen as the intense battle unfolds before her. She watches, transfixed, as Dante and Vergil's blades collide, the steel ringing out with each clash. The contact between their weapons generates a burst of heat, causing smoke to rise.

Lady narrating: "It seemed as if they derived some sort of twisted pleasure from this brotherly fighting."

Ruby watches in horror as Vergil disarms Dante, knocking the Rebellion from his grasp. With a swift motion, Vergil then plunges the Yamato into Dante's abdomen. Dante crumples to the ground, overwhelmed by the sudden attack.

She leans forward, biting her lip anxiously as the battle unfolds before her. The contrast between the brothers' fighting styles is stark - Vergil's precision versus Dante's reckless flair. Scarlet finds herself gripping the edge of her seat, silently willing Dante to find a way to turn this around.

Lady narrating: "But in the end…only one was left standing."

Vergil spikes his hair up and leaves with the Rebellion. Dante tries to stand up, but Vergil stabs Dante with the Rebellion, only for the scene to cut to black.

"Did you guys see that? The way they're moving is insane!" Ruby exclaims, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

[Whoa, they're like master swordsmen!]

[I've never seen anyone fight like that before!]

"I know, right? I've gotta get a closer look." Ruby leans forward, captivated by the effortless grace and raw power on display. "This is some top-tier stuff. I wonder who these guys are..."

The scene then shifts to Dante's store. The shop is in disrepair and not very clean. It features a pool table, a jukebox in the corner, a worn-out sofa, a variety of music equipment, and a table with a rotary dial telephone. There is also a box of pizza and Ebony on the table.

Ruby scans the cluttered interior of the store, her nose wrinkling slightly. "Geez, this place could use a good cleaning," she mutters, eliciting a chorus of agreement from her chat.

[Yeah, it looks like a total pigsty!]

The phone rang, and Dante kicked open the door. He had just stepped out of the shower, wearing only black leather pants, boots, fingerless gloves, and a silver amulet with a red gem around his neck.

Ruby glanced at Dante's abs and felt herself blush. The women in the chat were clearly infatuated with Dante's body.

[Wow, he's ripped!]

[I'm not sure if I should be staring or not...]

Dante kicked the chair up onto the floor and stylishly sat on it, slamming his feet on the table. The phone flew off, and Dante grabbed it.

"Sorry, I'm not open for business yet."

Dante hangs up the phone and grabs a slice of pizza on the table.

"I haven't even picked a name for this joint and I'm already getting calls."

People in the chat thought Dante was very cool.

[This guy is just oozing with style]

[He is so confident, I love it!]

Ruby watched intently as a tall, pale-skinned bald man entered Dante's store. His simple black attire and the large scar covering the left side of his face made him stand out in the cluttered space. His heterochromatic eyes scanned the room, exuding an aura of calculated poise.

Dante leaned back in his chair, taking a bite of pizza. "You a customer too? Well, if you want to use the bathroom, help yourself. The toilet's in the back."

The pale-skinned bald man with a scarred face scrutinized Dante. "Is your name Dante? Son of Sparda?"

Dante narrowed his eyes. "Where did you hear that?"

"From your brother." The man's mismatched eyes settled on the amulet around Dante's neck.

"Please accept it."

He flipped the table, sending it crashing against the wall. Dante landed on the table and quickly grabbed Ivory, scanning the room for any sign of the intruder. But the bald man had vanished.

Dante held out his hand, and the box of pizza landed in his palm. "Invitation, huh?" he mused, glancing at the package.

Dante was about to take a bite from the pizza when multiple pride demons appeared and stabbed his body with their scythes.

Ruby and her chat thought Dante was dead.

Suddenly, Dante pushed one of the pride demons in front of him with so much force that its head flew out, and its body crashed into the wall, turning into dust.

Dante walks leisurely toward the jukebox with the scythe blades still on his body. Ruby and her chat could not believe the scene. Dante pulled out the blade on his chest and threw it to the ceiling fan, crashing it down onto multiple pride demons.

"This party's getting crazy! Let's rock!"

Dante pressed the jukebox to play, but it didn't work. He pressed it multiple times, yet it still did not work. Frustrated, Dante slammed his fist onto the jukebox, and it finally started playing music.

Dante started dispatching the demons as music played in the background. Ruby and her chat watched in awe at how Dante defeated the demons with style. He moved with a fluid grace, using his twin handguns Ebony and Ivory to take down the Pride Demons one by one. With each shot, the demons disintegrated into ash, leaving Dante standing amidst the chaos, a confident smirk on his face. The chat erupted in excitement, their messages flooding the stream as they marveled at Dante's sheer power and showmanship.

"Don't bet on it!"

Ruby then began to control Dante's body, with his fighting style and movesets imprinted in her mind. Holding the Rebellion, the sword fit perfectly in her hand. As Ruby fought the pride demons, she noticed the Stylish Rank system. She experimented with her attacks and discovered that if she performed a variety of stylish moves without getting hit, her rank would increase.

Flipping and twirling the massive blade, Ruby executed a series of devastating combos, unleashing powerful strikes and parries. With each stylish maneuver, the Stylish Rank displayed on the screen climbed higher, filling her with a sense of exhilaration.

Ruby dispatched the last of the Pride Demons, their ashen remains drifting to the floor. A sense of exhilaration coursed through her as she surveyed the scene, the weight of Rebellion's hilt still familiar in her grasp.

"Wow, that was incredible!" she exclaimed, her eyes shining with excitement.

Glancing around the now-decimated store, Ruby couldn't help but wonder what other challenges the simulation had in store for her.

"Alright, let's see what else this place has to offer!" Ruby said, her voice brimming with anticipation as she tightened her grip on the sword and prepared to venture forth.
