概要

I see dead people. But hey, it’s the zombie apocalypse, everyone is seeing dead people, including a blind girl. It’s not like I am that special. For a while, I thought I was going to be Cinderella, complete with the cruel stepfamily and the little mice for helpers. But instead of mice, I got demons from hell with a taste for chaos. Then again, there is nothing wrong with a little chaos in the middle of the apocalypse. It’s what makes life worth living. Unfortunately for others, they don’t quite see it that way. You see, I have a gift. One that isn’t exactly mine, but I can use it however I see fit. My gift is granting wishes. I'm a genie without a bottle, but it would be nice if people appreciated me more. All the humans ask for is the same thing… more food here, shelter there, kill these people, torture those. And I do it all, for a small price. I don’t ask for money or food, I can get that on my own. No, I want favors, souls, something that means everything for the other person. And they give it to me. Their momentary desire worth their long term happiness. But by the time they discover that, I’m long gone, already moved on to my next… client. I know I look young, starvation and abuse will do that to a girl. Humans tell me that I shouldn’t be wandering out there alone. Some try to help me… most don’t. But whoever said I was by myself? Just because others couldn’t see them didn’t mean my demons ever left. I still hear their voices in my head, whispering words of encouragement and love. For them, I’d do anything. Kill anyone. Destroy anything. After all, life is just a game, right? Those still alive at the end of the day were the lucky ones. Those who died were not. Everything is just a game of chance, all a human has to do is roll the dice. My only word of advice is to be careful what you wish for… you just might get it. My name is Hattie, welcome to my world. Would you like a cup of tea?

Chapter 1It’s The End Of The World As We Know It

4:58pm November 1st, 2120

"Hattie!" a voice screamed in the darkness, jolting me out of my thoughts. "'Attie LaRue! You get your sweet ass over to me, ya 'ear? Don't you make me comma find you. I promise you; ya won't be liking the consequences if I do."

The stairs above me shook under his weight as he came down them. Dust lightly rained down on me as the old wooden stairs protested each movement. My heart seemed to beat in time with each heavy footstep, sinking down into my stomach as he finally reached the bottom stair.

"Don't worry, mon ange," came the deep voice beside me. The soft caress of his breath gently brushed past my cheek, and I could feel the tension in my body leave me as I felt the phantom arms around me. "Two more minutes, and the world officially ends. Just two more minutes and those connards, those fuckers, cannot lay a single finger on you. Two more minutes, and you can finally be free."

I let out a long breath and buried my face in Teddy. Two more minutes. I had done 18 years. Two minutes was nothing.

I could hear the footsteps of someone else going upstairs, and once again, the stairs groaned in protest. "She ain't in the crawl," came a younger voice than the first. He was my second step-brother, also known as Shit Stain Number Two.

I had made the mistake of calling him that to his face a little while ago…

My fingers went up to the cut on my face, brushing over the staples still in it, keeping the flesh and skin together.

I won't make that mistake again.

But then again, if the voice could be trusted, then I'd be able to get my revenge in two minutes.

"Less than that now, mon ange, one minute," came the voice again.

I was in my hiding space, one that I had created just for myself. Well, if I had to be precise, Shit Stain Number One created it when he put his fist through the wall under the stairs when he missed my head. The poor drunk fool couldn't hit the broad side of a barn when he was drunk, let alone my small head.

When Père made me patch up the hole, I found that the entire section under the stairs was unused. So, I took maybe about two feet near the bottom and made a small room for myself.

The whole thing was maybe two by two, but I was only 4'11, so I could squeeze myself in just fine when needed.

And this was one of the times I needed it.

I guess the popular term for my little hidey hole was 'safe space', but since I had never once known what a safe space felt like, I preferred the term 'hiding space'.

"'Attie! Imma gonna get Père now. Yous and I both know yous don't be wanting that," came the first voice… Shit Stain Number One. His O City accent always came out stronger the more pissed off he got.

Why, half of the time he beat me, I couldn't make out a word he was saying, and I have lived with him, his brother, and their Père for the past thirteen years.

Mind you, they were from a deeper, darker part of O City than where I was born. They were raised in the deep in the swamps and bayous just on the outskirts of the main city. Maybe that was why I had trouble understanding them.

Or maybe one of the times they had knocked me unconscious messed with my brain more than I originally thought.

Nah, I had been hearing the devil and the angel since I was four, so I couldn't blame that on them…

"What's with all this yellin' and screamin'?"

The front door slammed shut with a bang, causing me to jump. I bit back a curse when my head hit one of the stairs, but luckily, the footsteps coming down the stairs hid any sound I made.

"'Attie just disappeared," grumbled Shit Stain Number Two. "We's was lookin' to have a bit of fun with 'er and we no can find the little bitch."

"'Attie LaRue! You get your ass down 'ere now! Quick like or my belt will be comma off," snarled Père.

I would admit that when I was eight, that threat was enough to terrify me into doing anything and everything that he had wanted me to do. But after two years, I learned quickly that he didn't need an excuse to take off his belt… or his pants.

Knowing that no matter how good or how bad I was, nothing was going to change, I started caring less and less.

The stupidest part was that I still cared enough to keep me alive…

Ish.

My fingers danced over another fresh wound, this time going from my navel to just under my right breast.

Père thought it was best to get one of those staple guns from the hospital so he could put me back together when he and his sons broke me.

"Five… four… three… two… one! Congratulations on your freedom, mon ange," the voice behind me whispered and all of a sudden, I heard a lot of loud swearing.

"Fils de pute," growled Père. "Marc, you go find the box and make sure nothings been tripped. It is darker than a witches chatte right now. We's a never gonna find 'Attie in this darkness."

I heard the sounds of three distinct footsteps moving around, and crashing soon followed.

More swearing, and then there was nothing.

"Don't worry, ma petite, we will tell you exactly what you need to do," a second sounded right in front of me, and I could smell the peppermint on his breath.

"Do you have it?" asked the first voice from behind. I nodded my head and reached into the seam in Teddy's back. Tightening my hand, I pulled the object out of my teddy bear.

"Such a good girl," crooned the second voice, and I felt myself puff up with pride. No one had ever complimented me before him, and it meant everything to me when I could make him happy.

I could feel the smile on my face widen at his words.

"Alright. Now, you are going to have to leave Teddy behind for right now. We don't want him seeing what is about to happen next, right?"

Spoilers below be warned: Read till ch.144, overall the story is unique compared to anything else i read but for some reason it felt like it's missing something which lead me to get bored of it. 4/5 world background is described well with nothing too detailed but at same time not overly vague. Only slightly important note is there are 2 previous fics connected to this one but soo far haven't played too much an important role here. 3/5 writing quality. the author's english is really if u ignore a few wrong words used but the dialect used when some characters are speaking can be a turn off especially when multiple ppl are talking using that dialect it feels like I'm trying to translate/decypher what I'm reading. Not to mention the sudden use of french words which will lead u to either google the sentence or scroll down to bottom of chapter to find the meaning b4 researching where u last were. Story development 3/5 there's too much repetition (4 times ) in what Hattie is going through that i wouldn't be surprised if it happened a few more times before something interesting happens. To summarize them it goes like this. Hattie finds humans, they take her to the group/camp, at least 1 of the men is suddenly crazy (usually the 2nd in command or a person related to the leader of group) about her to the point all personal ties they had to other ppl is unimportant and said men tend to be some supernatural being (sin/angel/demon/etc...), 1 woman will always show excessive hate for mc just for existing and try to harm her, when mc is in danger all the ppl that promised to protect her and care for her are suddenly unavailable only in crucial moments. Character design 4/5. Lots of characters are 2D, the villains are 9/10 of the time ugly ppl either too fat or super skinny with bad breathes that repeat the usual cliché villain dialogues. The good guys or important ppl (sins/meatsack of sins/her harem members/good natured ppl) are handsome drop dead gorgeous with sultry voice and smell good, they all have black hair and tattoos and muscles it's like they are septuplets that were separated from a young age (look at character images and see how similar they are). The Mc is the most enjoyable character in the story whether it's her comebacks to insults, how she deals with ppl, how she uses her looks to her advantage ,or how chaos ensues wherever she goes. The only quality i didn't like much is how she isn't proactive or uses her brain to solve some simple things (feels like author is limiting her to let the plot flow steady). She can literally wish for anything without consequences and yet she doesn't take advantage of it. she was thrown into a swamp by alicia, she doesn't know how to return to the group so she walks in random direction (she can teleport or get item like jack sparrow's compass), she promised to help sins become strong but when she was warned she's going to die she just let's herself be kidnapped, tortured, then killed just bcz she didn't want Tank to be hurt from a betrayal (she can erase the existence of ppl from the world). TLDR: Her ability is basically reality warping but with a contract/command sequence but it's limited to authors intellect or how she wants the plot to flow. Summary definitely deserves a shot to be read even if u have to pay coins later on.
