概要

A young boy's life has changed forever, as a baby he was removed from the reservation because his parents were killed in a house fire. When he got older, he was returned to the reservation into the hands of his grandparents, who raised him and taught him his traditions.

Chapter 1Chapter 1

It was night time on the reservation. The Natives were celebrating white independence day. A family friend was drunk, his friends were all passed out on the floor, couches, and the bedroom, he was roaming around yelling for them to get up, he was staggering around and he saw an open window, he shot off a firecracker in the house and walked away. The house caught on fire, and everybody got up and staggering and running out the door.

Once he realized what he had done he looked up and saw a black shadowy figure opening the window, the shadow figure tossed a baby out the window, he ran over and jumped and caught the baby. He got up and looked towards the window and walked away to safety.

So the family friend and his wife took the baby home. The next morning they phone called social service to come and take the baby. When they came they handed the baby over, the family friend started crying and looked up to the woman and said,

"I didn't mean too," as a tear was coming down his face.

After that, the family friend cut his hair and never wore it long again. They placed the baby in foster care and there he remained for the rest of his life until he was fifteen years old.

"So are you nervous?" asked Alexie.

"Nervous?" asked Charlie Grey Eyes.

"Yeah, about going back to the reservation," said Alexie.

"No, what is there to be nervous about," said Charlie Grey Eyes.

"Well I don't know?" questioned Alexie.

"Your funny," said Charlie Grey Eyes.

"Charlie, do you have all your stuff packed, the caseworker is here?" asked the foster mother.

"Yes I'm coming down," said Charlie.

"Good luck Charlie," said Alexie.

"Thank you," said Charlie.

So Charlie went downstairs with his belongings.

"Are you ready, to go," said the foster mother.

"Yes I am," said Charlie.

"Good, I'll help you take your stuff to the young lady's car," said the foster mother.

"Thank you," said Charlie.

"You are welcome," said the foster mother.

So she helped him carrying his stuff to her car, and got in the car with her, and buckled up.

"Good luck, I wish you well Charlie," said the foster mother.

"Thank you, I will, I am excited," said Charlie.

"That is good, learn all you can," said the foster mother.

"I will," said Charlie.

"Goodbye, it was nice meeting you," said the caseworker.

"You too, you two be careful," said the foster mother.

"Oh we will," said the caseworker.

So they drove away to the reservation. They stopped at a store to fill up with gas and buy a few snacks for the road. So they started driving.

"So are you excited?" asked the caseworker.

"Yeah, but I have always wondered, why didn't my grandparents take me when I was a baby?" asked Charlie.

"Well we could not find them, until years later," said the caseworker.

"Oh, how did you find them?" asked Charlie.

"Well, we did research, and looked up documents and found them living on a homestead they that was passed down from generation to generation, so you will live there with them on the reservation," said the caseworker.

"Cool," said Charlie looking out the window.

As he was looking he saw many buildings and roads and houses. Then they saw nothing, but grass and mountains and fences.

"Wow, there is nothing here, it is beautiful out here, look at the mountains," said Charlie.

"Yes that is the reservation, this whole area is part of the Indian reservation," said the caseworker.

"Cool," said Charlie.

"Yeah, I hope you enjoy staying at your grandparent's, I am sure they will teach all you need to know," said the caseworker.

"Yeah, I can't wait," said Charlie.

They continued to drive. They reached the reservation and came up to another road, it was leading up to a house that was lifted a little bit off the ground.
