The Meeting

"REESE! Watch out!" A loud sharp voice made her look behind her as she felt something hard hit her forehead. She was laying on the ground, covering her forehead with her right hand as she was struggling to stand up. Steph helped her out.

"Oh my gosh! I'm sorry! Are you okay?" She asked her. "Oh yes! Your shoe just landed on my forehead and I feel great! Thank you so much!" Reese smiled sarcastically and she rolled her eyes.

"Don't roll your eyeballs on me!" Steph said with a gasp. Reese looked at her with an annoyed expression on her face.

"Yeah. Next time I'll make your eyeballs roll literally." She said with an angry tone and Steph covered her mouth as if she was very shocked.

"I'm looking forward to that day!" They paused for a little while staring at each other's eyes until they both found themselves laughing and they hugged each other.

"I'm really sorry, Reese! I was just trying to get rid of that shoe because I felt something weird biting my toe!" Steph exclaimed. Reese laughed very loud for a long time and Steph was just looking at her.

"Are you done?"

"No! Let me laugh for another round!"

"Gosh I hate you Reese!"

"I love you too."

Reese flashed a wide grin, teasing her pouting friend. "You know, you don't look cute when you do that. You should stop doing that."

"Do what?"

"Pouting. You look constipated when you do that." Reese joked. Steph hit her in the shoulder but Reese just laughed louder. The bell rung and all of the students were rushing down the corridor. "Oops, I gotta go! See ya later, jellyfish." Reese said as she walks away from Steph. She liked to call her friend "jellyfish" because jellyfishes got no brain but are very dangerous, just like her friend. Steph and Reese were best friends since they were both in grade school. Reese was one of the smartest kid in the class but she never brag about it and she never wanted attention so she failed some of her classes on purpose. Reese was beautiful but people never get to see it if they won't look at her for a very long time, everyday. She gets more and more beautiful as she grew up.

Steph was a cute and bubbly girl. She loves shopping as much as she love herself. She talks to herself in front of the mirror everyday telling herself how much she loves to look at her gorgeous self. She just love herself as much as the word "self" has been repeated. Very narcissistic, indeed. But one fact about her is that if she loves someone more than she does with herself, she tend to be very selfless just to make that person happy. This girl takes love seriously.

They were both very close to each other as if they were sisters by flesh and blood and by heart. They've really known each other so well for a long time now. They were the complete opposite of each other but they do believe that something combined with its opposite is PERFECT.

Class for the morning session was over, lunch time. Steph and Reese are having their lunch somewhere outside the canteen. Steph was acting a bit different.

"Hey, are you okay?" She asked. Steph seems to be holding back her tears.

"For my sixteen years of existence I've never been humiliated like this!" Steph cried. She was being bullied by her classmates because they couldn't stand her stupidity, like they think they are not any different to her.

"Life's like that, jellyfish. People bully another people because they think they're superior." Said Reese. Steph just nodded and sighed. Most people never liked her for her physical character and for having a below average IQ. But the truth is, even the smartest man on earth still has so much more to learn. There are still more things that we have not explore and have not learned, things that they never taught us in school, and there are still lots of discoveries still undiscovered for the society limits our thinking.

"But why do they have to steal my stuffs and put them on the teacher's table? Then they would draw a male genitalia on my notebook and show it to Ms. Clara and tell her that I did it? Doesn't sound like what heroes should do. It's very cruel!" Steph said as she let her tears stream down her cheeks. Just by looking at this poor girl crying over her misery, Reese was really hurt. She hugged her friend for comfort, just to make her feel that she's always there to listen to her and be there for her.

"I know I'm stupid but that's not an excuse for them to treat me like that. I don't deserve it!"

"You're not stupid. Maybe you are just not good at something in particular but I know you're good at something else. You know, some people who they call a 'genius' have a brilliant mentality but do you know that they are also stupid at some point? Like a math genius, who only study math for their entire existence, ask them something related to music and they're only gonna tell you the magic phrase 'Google it'. Ask a science geek something about sports and bullshit and they just can't tell you anything about it. See? Not all who they worship a 'genius' because of the 'brilliance' of their mind is good at literally everything... just with something that they have studied their whole life."

"You're right. You're the little face of hope but really, I don't deserve to be treated like this just because I don't appear as someone who they worship."

"You really don't deserve it... but you can prevent them from doing that. You know the reason why I called you 'jellyfish'."

"I know what you're gonna say. I can't hurt people like I did before anymore."

"But, no matter how much you try to resist fighting back, it'll always lead you to one option and that is to fight back."

"But...." Steph realized that her friend is right. I can't just hide and be like this forever. She thought.

"Thank you, Reese. I really wuf you!" Steph hugged her tight. Reese was relieved. People are really into hurting another people just to assert their social dominance. Very pathetic. She thought.

"Steph?"

"Yes?"

"Can I have your yogurt?" Reese said with a wide grin. Steph just smiled and nodded her head for approval.

"My token for the words of wisdom." Reese said as she happily eat the yogurt. Steph was feeling a lot better now. Thanks to her only friend who loves her despite of the bad impressions of people about her.

It was three in the afternoon and the class was over. Steph and Reese were walking home together. They were talking about an invitation they have received to a party from one of the "popular" kid in their school. They were actually talking about whether they' would go there tonight or not. They've never been to a party and they've never been invited to one and they think it's really strange and very unusual that they actually got an invitation.

"So, what are your thoughts, sweets? You wanna go to the party or not?" Reese asked. Steph paused for a moment to think of an answer.

"Well, I think we should go. It's actually a miracle that they noticed our existence." Steph said with a little hope in her face.

"You sure? We're gonna be the 'loser' in the eyes of stupid people and they would say that we should not be there." said Reese. She's a little worried about the thought of getting humiliated in front of "social" people there tonight. This is going to be the worst night of my life.

"Eh. Why do we even have this stupid invitation in the first place? If they just invited us to that stupid party just to make us look pathetic then WE SHOULD GO!" Steph exclaimed. She is getting angry. She is very determined to go to the party tonight just to embarrass herself. Thought Reese. Steph looked at her as if she knows what Reese was thinking.

"We both know that I won this argument. Come to my place at five and lemme do the job for ya. You need to look like a real lady. Not just some old fashioned granny in the 80's." Reese let out a helpless sigh. "Alright, I'll be there early."

The party's theme was a little classy, it's like a prom night during the first month of school. Kind of ironic. Everyone looked really formal and classy, respectful and polite. But under that classy look was a superficial bitch who's a whore for attention. Reese and Steph arrived exactly when everyone was singing "happy birthday" and the celebrant was faking a smile and pretending to be really really "touched". Reese rolled her eyes and thought to herself, "Here goes the eccentric bitch." Steph saw what she did. "Hey, don't let anyone see you roll your eyeballs. It would be an issue." She said jokingly. Reese flashed a sarcastic smile and said "It would be great!" Steph pulled her hair lightly and they both laughed. "Oh, the funeral song is over. We should get something to eat." Reese said and Steph agreed. "I have been fantasizing about that delicious cake since the moment I saw it when we arrived..." Steph said. Reese laughed and laughingly said, "Shh. Don't embarrass me." Steph continued her sentence "Mmm-mmm! I wanna smear the icing all over my butt and I'm gonna stuff it in that papi's face and suffocate him with it!" Steph pointed out her finger towards Brad, one of the popular guy in school. They both giggled and they heard people laughing from behind them. They both turned around and they saw two unfamiliar guys. They are tall and really charming. "That is a very weird kink but I like it." The guy with a long hair said and winked at Steph. She froze when she saw the guy. It was Ian, also one of the popular guys in school. "You girls shouldn't talk about your brutal kinks in public. Shame." Said the other guy who looked manly in his black suit. "Excuse me? Why were you listening to our conversation? Mind your own business!" Reese exclaimed. "What's really shameful is your nosy ass eavesdropping to our conversation and trying to get involved with our business!" They heard the guys say "woah!" and she raised her left eyebrow and the guy with the black suit stepped closer to her until they were inches apart. He looked down at her and flashes an annoyed smile and say "You're quite a punk to yell at us like that. You don't even know who we are…" She looked back at him straight in his eyes and said "I don't care about who you are. I don't care if you shit gold or you eat lava. I don't care if you are famous. I can say whatever I want in your face and this I will tell you… FUCK OFF!" Everyone in the room looked at her and there was a long silence. She felt their eyes on her. She looked around and felt a little embarrassed but her pride took over her. She looked at the guy once more and she dragged her shocked friend out of the party and they went home.
