Story Of The Richest Man In The City

"I couldn't save her?"

Shiva could not believe it upon regaining consciousness.

In the advanced research lab, everything seemed depressing and surreal. The sound of heavy rain mixed with howling winds created a sense of melancholy and a lonely atmosphere.

On the stool, there was a monitor which was measuring the heartbeat of a beautiful pale girl lying on the bed without breathing.

There was no sign of any life in her, and neither in Shiva as even tears couldn't come out of his cold eyes.

He slowly placed his hand on his head and gave it a tight punch to feel pain, but he was long numb to it.

Slowly, as he felt his consciousness becoming blurry, the memories started flashing by.

He was born into a rich family, he had everything he could ask for.

But there was no one with whom he could share his pain or happiness as his parents had already left this world when he was three.

His maid was the only one who cared for her young master on the cold night when he used to have nightmares.

His life was not dull as he delved into science from a very young age, having the curiosity of a child who wanted to know everything.

Time passed by, his maid grew old and when he was eighteen, the maid took leave forever as she departed from the world.

Shiva dug the grave by himself in respect of her and placed the coffin inside.

As the maid was just another unknown woman, nobody came to her funeral and in the cold dark weather, Shiva was left alone in the world.

After some years, when he was twenty-five, due to his intelligence and charisma, he tripled the amount of money he had becoming one of the richest men in the city.

He met many girls who flocked towards him intending to sleep or marry, but Shiva couldn't erase the loneliness from his heart so he stopped going to such parties and completely delved into his research which had no goals.

But the saying 'nature is always fair ' turned out to be the truth as spring bloomed with a sweet smile upon him as he met a girl with blonde hair and a dark coat.

They both shared similar curiosity towards the things around them and quickly became close to each other.

Isla and he spent their days playing with little experiments and enjoying life, and at last Shiva proposed to her.

With tears coming out of her eyes,

"Yes! I waited for this day for a long time,"

In the fantastic spring season with roses and flowers, their love assimilated into the atmosphere.

Time passed by, and they were ready to marry.

But the autumn season never retracted its shadow from Shiva.

The world has never been fair.

Shiva wept as the disease took over Isla giving her only four months to savour life.

"Dr, Why do I have to suffer again and again? What did I do?"

His quivering voice shook the doctor's heart and she could only lower her head.

It was his family doctor who has seen every death in his family so even she couldn't bring up to say anything.

"She has stage four advanced cancer, treating her with the help of our best medical experts, we can only extend her lifespan by four months,"

She placed her hand on his shoulder and left.

Shiva entered the hospital room where Isla was looking at him with a sweet smile.

"Shiva, there's no need to be sad, but my heart is heavy as my time here draws to a close. Our time together has been filled with so much joy and love, but I know that I must soon leave this world and return to nature's embrace. I wish I could stay with you for much longer, but it's time for me to say goodbye."

Those were her last words, she was a bit sad but also quite happy as she spent her time with him which gave her satisfaction even though it was short.

After that, only her body was alive but she was unconscious.

He couldn't see his love getting away from him as he saw everyone drowning in the love in spring once again.

The nightmares became frequent as he saw Isla getting away from him further and further.

Once after waking up from a nightmare, he couldn't help but scroll through the dark web where humanity's darkest secrets were hidden.

After scrolling through a lot of things, he finally saw a way of curing cancer which was not confirmed but Russian scientists have found some shreds of evidence that it could cure fourth-stage cancer.

Look at the irony of nature, a scientist just eager to try something which was referred to as supernatural, which had no concrete facts.

It was an experiment where one had to extract the something called spirit power of a lot of people which could be found in their T-cells.

Blind in love, Shiva slowly transformed into a monster as he used his power and money to forcefully extract the T-cells out of patients coming into his family doctor's hospital.

As he had a sufficient amount of T-cells, he used inhumane torture to bring out intense emotions and refined them into something called Spirit.

Finally, he brought Isla to his lab and began experimenting with her body, using any patterns of spirit in an attempt to bring her back to life.

"Shiva, Police have found the abnormality in the hospital, I am leaving the country and this would be my last call, Goodbye!"

The matter was exposed as more and more patients started showing symptoms of cancer after getting treated at the hospital.

"Hmm,"

Shiva still didn't show any concern as he had already lost himself in his obsession with saving Isla and used the remaining drop of spirit for the last time.

Drip!

Isla breathed her last in terrifying silence, as the last drop of spirit liquid failed to save her.

Shiva just sat there in the cold winter when the lights were off, the rain was falling and the wind was howling.

At last, he couldn't win against destiny and only mourned for her.

"Shoot!"

An officer showed no mercy on him seeing the dead bodies in the lab.

The police force was trembling to look at the monster who was defenceless, nobody could believe that something like this could be done by a human.

"I said shoot!"

The officer cried out in fear as Shiva slowly lifted his head and bloodshot eyes which were icy observed them.

Everyone just stood there, so fearful of him looking at tortured bodies that they didn't dare to make any sound.

Thump!

Shiva stood up and walked towards the officer.

The officer snatched the gun from a lower-ranked policeman and pointed it towards him.

"Do not come forward, else I will shoot!"

The officer roared in anger and panic.

But Shiva's step didn't stop as he arrived in front of him.

The officer's eyes widened looking at those emotionless eyes which showed no emotion, devoid of any human behaviour or pattern.

Shiva gently pointed the gun towards himself and smiled.

"Bam!"

Boom!

He shot himself in the head as his playful voice fell, and departed from this world in the year 2056 at the age of 32, leaving behind the legacy of being the richest man in the capital city.
