"Benefactor?, There's someone pulling your strings?" He didn't like my choice of words, it's actually my first time seeing a genuine unrestrained and uncalculated expression from him

"I have a Benefactor, our mutual interests aligned and they happened to take a liking to you for reasons I did not understand, at the time"

"Well, I'm flattered, what woman would not the idea of a random stranger having her every move monitored, I feel so charmed" I rolled my eyes at the ridiculousness of it all, but i've been in this world long enough to know that these things can't be helped, "So, did you benefactor tell you to help me?, To answer all my questions?"

"They told me to get in your good grace, you just happen to be a woman that's hard to please" he genuinely looked like he meant that, I don't think I was being that difficult, sure I might've taken him for a whirl but it's not nearly as bad as he's making me out to be.
