Chapter Thirty: Eclipse's Comeback II

Ran's POV

The mall has been noisy and I and Sonoko came back and forth through stores until we got bored.

"Mou~~ We have no black cards, Ran! Shinichi might get angry once we got home late!" Sonoko whined as she sat herself to a seat across mine.

We are in a café waiting for our drinks to come.

I smiled at her and laughed. "Silly. I never had time to be with you like this for such a long time."

"Well..." She puts her chin on her hand, her elbows supporting the table. "... In your case, it was pretty much hard to hang out. Especially when you know your friend has no memory of you, but hey, the medicine that the kid gave to you is effective. I wonder what type of medicine was it."

I just stared at Sonoko and laughed awkwardly.

I have a few memories in mind about her. I knew she is my childhood friend and my best girl friend I could trust. More than that, I do not understand who she is. Sonoko said her family-owned large companies, so technically, she's rich.

"Maybe it was from a medical consultant or something," I said.

"No one in the hospital knows how to make it unless they prove how to do it," Sonoko said and looked at me with one of her eyebrows raised. "I might know two people who made it though."

"Huh? Who are they then?"

"The first one is the old man, Agasa Hakase. He is a professor so obviously, his profession would be in technology and chemical. The second one was our late friend, Ai Haibara. She is really good at experimenting with things and—" Sonoko's eyes suddenly widened, fear appeared in her eyes. "W-Wait, if the medicine was made by Haibara, then she's—"

"Hey, don't makeup stories," Ran said and sighed. "A dead body can't be turned back into a living person, Sonoko."

"Y-You're right," she said and awkwardly laugh. "Then, Ran, let's go. Shinichi will be worried about you if you don't go back home early."

I smiled at her and stood up. "Sure thing. I had enough of the shopping we made anyways."

She nodded with a smile. "Yeah."

Third Person's View

As Ran and Sonoko got out of the restaurant they're in, a man in black puts his phone on his ears. He has a mask on his mouth.

"The target is on the move," he said through the phone as he keeps an eye on Ran.

"Good. Now, take her and the other one is..." She smirked as she looked at her computer's screen, watching her other companions taking the other target in their hands. "... has been successfully taken."

"Yes, My Lady." The mysterious figure turned to phone off and stared at his prey, watching the other girl with the blonde-short hair to unnoticed the situation.

Ran, on the other hand, is oblivious of what will be occurring to her last day with Sonoko.

The mysterious figure moved forward. Ran suddenly felt a strong presence behind her. She looked in the back but she found nothing.

"Ran, what's wrong?" Sonoko asked innocently at her.

"N-Nothing," she replied and glanced in the direction where she felt the presence as she turned her body to Sonoko. "I-I think I might have just felt something suspicious."

"Geez, you're being too cautious. I thought you were having fun?"

She looked at her friend and stared at her. After the long stare, she sighed and said, "Go ahead to your house, Sonoko."

"H-Huh? What are you saying, Ran?"

Ran walked near Sonoko and puts her hand on her shoulder. She leaned forward to her ear and whispered, "Then call the police headquarters and say this..."

Sonoko's eyes widened as she heard every word Ran lets out. She glanced at Ran with a shocked expression. Unable to contain what is she feeling, her tears fell down as if the words have been sink all the way to her heart.

She turned her back to her friend and ran away holding the request Ran told her. "Call the police headquarters and say this, 'Shinichi and Ran are in danger. The place where the firstborn falls lie within the cherry blossoms.' "

On the other hand, Ran stops walking on closes her eyes. The mysterious figure walked out of his hiding spot and was about to move and touch Ran's shoulders when Ran disappeared from his sight.

"W-What? W-Where is s---"

"I am here," Ran said. The mysterious figure looked up and saw Ran floating in the air. In a second, a crack has been heard. The cry of the man brings a ring to Ran's ears. Before she even thought of what she did, her body moved on her own once again and kicked the mysterious figure's face.

Her feet touched the ground as the guy's face felt pain as his body fell down the ground.

"What do you think you're doing? Going under operation kidnapping?" Ran asked. She raised an eyebrow and stared at the man. "Hmm? He's unconscious huh? Well, if he is, this is just definitely a pran--"

Ran suddenly feel her head was on the clouds. Her eyes suddenly became blurry and her balanced was breaking down. Her body strength was like it has been sucked out of her. Her body fell down as she mutters one name...

"... Shinichi."
