I Just Want a Single Ending [95] [50 PS]

Bonus Chapter!

---

'Isn't this a bit over the top?'

Kamigawa couldn't help but mentally gripe at the system's choices.

This was the first time he'd seen something other than the usual two options—this time, there were nine!

He'd played plenty of galgames, and none of them had options like this.

Then again, he reasoned, it kind of made sense with this many girls around.

Still, it was strange; the choices gave off a feeling of choosing a path, as if this was something that could affect the future.

And they'd all only just met—weren't they just friends?

With a few grumbles, Kamigawa began to seriously analyze his options.

The couch at his place was modular, without any armrests, forming a spacious square with a large coffee table in the center.

Everyone was already sitting somewhat scattered, leaving several open spots, so he could sit next to anyone without issue.

First, he ruled out Chihaya Anon and Nagasaki Soyo—their affection levels were a little too high already.

Then there was Tomori and Shiina Taki. No way would Shiina want him to sit by Tomori, and likely wouldn't want him sitting next to her, either—it'd just decrease her opinion of him.

He scratched Yamada Ryo off the list as well; he'd already spend plenty of time with her later to learn composition. They'd have ample opportunity to connect without needing to sit together now.

Kita Ikuyo was also a no-go. They'd already been out to a movie together recently, and sitting next to her now might feel a bit too close for comfort.

And Gotoh Hitori? With her social anxiety, sitting with him would probably be more nerve-wracking than pleasant.

That left Raana the "cat" and the ever-dependable Nijika Ijichi.

His best option? Nijika.

Raana would be fine so long as there was food to keep her happy.

While he was thinking, Nagasaki Soyo had already scooted over a bit, leaving a spot open for him. But before he could thank her, he found himself speaking to Nijika instead.

"Nijika, mind if I sit next to you?"

[Strength +3]

"Of course!"

Nijika agreed right away, delighted at his choice. On her left sat Yamada, whom she'd be helping with studying, and now on her right would be Kamigawa, the class's top student. The contrast was quite amusing.

"Thanks."

Relieved, Kamigawa took his place beside her but couldn't help noticing a few glances coming his way.

One was from Chihaya Anon, and the other from Nagasaki Soyo.

Soyo felt a slight pang of regret—if she'd spoken up just a little sooner, maybe he would've ended up choosing her side instead.

Anon, on the other hand, wasn't particularly bothered by him not sitting with her. It wasn't the sort of thing she'd make an issue over.

But of course, if he had sat next to her, she certainly wouldn't have minded.

"So, Nijika mentioned that a lot of your band struggles with grades. How about the rest of you?" Kamigawa asked, pulling his textbook out of his bag and redirecting the topic.

When he'd asked this question in their group chat, only Chihaya Anon had responded.

"My grades are decent. If anyone needs help, feel free to ask," Anon replied modestly.

"And the others?"

Kamigawa never really worried about her academic standing. After all, someone with the option to study abroad couldn't exactly have poor grades—assuming it wasn't the kind of program you just buy your way into.

Soyo's gaze drifted over them, and she replied softly, "I'm doing alright, similar to Anon. I should be able to help with questions that aren't too difficult."

"I'd say I'm okay," Shiina Taki chimed in, her eyes darting briefly to Tomori.

As for herself, she didn't really need a study session.

But since Tomori wanted to come, Shiina had tagged along, too.

It'd be a great opportunity to help Tomori review!

"Average," Tomori answered curtly.

"Do you think you'll pass?" Kamigawa asked, just to clarify.

"Yeah," she said. Despite her difficulty connecting with others, subjects like math presented no challenge. For her, math wasn't about emotion—it was either right or wrong, simple as that.

"No problem."

Raana, having just finished her noodles, replied offhandedly as she wandered over to the mountain of snacks, looking for something new to nibble on.

Kamigawa honestly didn't worry much about Raana's grades. Cats didn't need to study or care about tests, after all.

"Wait, so your band's grades are actually pretty great. Why are we even having a study session?"

Nijika was, for the first time, feeling the pressure from another band—not musically, but academically.

"Right? Why are we even doing this?" Kamigawa echoed after sorting through all the information.

Ending Band needed a study session because they were genuinely struggling with grades.

But his band? From the sounds of it, everyone seemed to be doing fine.

He'd originally thought maybe Tomori or one of the others was struggling.

"I think it'll be fun," Anon replied after a moment. "It just sounds interesting, studying together with everyone in the band."

"Agreed."

Tomori nodded in agreement. Whatever they did as a band, it was always fun as long as they were together.

"And it's a nice way to bond as a group," Kita added cheerfully, clearly pleased with the arrangement. Then, she proposed, "Since we're all together, how about we take a group photo?"

"Great idea!" Anon immediately agreed.

In certain things, she and Kita had the same taste.

"P-Photo?" Gotoh stammered, visibly nervous.

Aside from her family and school graduation photos, she'd never taken pictures like this with friends.

"Um, aren't we supposed to be studying?" Shiina still hadn't forgotten their original purpose for gathering.

She'd even brought her books and a notebook, ready to help Tomori with her studies.

"I want to!"

Tomori looked around at everyone and gave an enthusiastic nod.

"Well, if that's what you want…" Shiina's expression softened immediately.

"You really switch gears quickly when it's for Tomori, don't you?" Chihaya Anon couldn't resist a comment, laughing at Shiina's sudden change of heart.

"Mind your business."

Shiina rolled her eyes.

"Alright, you all can take the picture—I'll be the photographer," Kamigawa offered, pulling out his phone.

"Why not join us?"

The suggestion instantly caught everyone's attention, and Soyo voiced the question they were all curious about.

"If I'm the only guy in the photo, it's bound to come across a little… odd, no matter where it's posted."
