As Zeng Shen pondered how to use the wormhole tracking card, a notification chimed in his ear.
[Congratulations, Host, for accumulating one hundred card draws. A new side quest has been triggered.]
[Task Requirement: Accumulate 100,000 unused survival points.]
[Reward: Activation of the Purple Card Lottery Wheel (each 100,000 survival points for a ten-draw, guaranteed four purple cards per draw).]
"A new side quest? Just 100,000 survival points to activate the Purple Card Lottery Wheel?"
"And it guarantees four purple cards in a ten-draw?"
"That doesn't seem like a bad deal since normally, a single purple card from the lottery wheel would require 50,000 survival points."
Zeng Shen murmured to himself, realizing the benefits, and decided to accumulate the required 100,000 survival points to activate the Purple Card Lottery Wheel.
While making this decision, he received two notifications for earning 2,000 survival points each as the No. 1 Divine Energy Vehicle reached the west gate of Tonghai City.
"Great, another 2,000 survival points added."
"I must make a round trip of Tonghai City before heading back to Jinhai."
With this thought, Zeng Shen lay back in the driver's seat, focused his mind, and appeared above his divine realm, quickly deploying the resource, building, and item cards he had just acquired.
While he was in his divine realm, the No. 1 Divine Energy Vehicle left the west gate of Tonghai City and headed straight to Xiayang Town via an old road.
Xiayang Town consists of twelve natural villages. These villages are fairly concentrated, resulting in a dense population of nearly 100,000, making it one of the larger towns near the outskirts of Tonghai.
The town features cement roads and numerous self-built three- to five-story buildings. However, most young people have left for major cities like Shenzhen or Guangzhou or second-tier cities like Dongwan, Foshan, and Huizhou, returning only for significant holidays and local traditions like temple fairs and ancestor worship.
When the No. 1 Divine Energy Vehicle, disguised as a Wuling motorhome, reached the town gate of Xiayang, the sky was already dark. Street lights gradually lit up the dim roads as curious passersby marveled at the massive "Wuling motorhome."
Though Xiayang Town was well-developed, with most families owning a vehicle, the size of this motorhome was a first for many, sparking conversations among the townsfolk.
"Whose vehicle is this? It's as big as a truck."
"Yes, it's heading towards Huayang Village. Could it be a purchase by a wealthy Yan family member, given their ancestor worship ceremony the day after tomorrow?"
"Why not say it's a Zeng family member who bought it? They also have an ancestor worship ceremony the day after tomorrow."
"Come on, everyone knows the Zeng family's financial situation. Ever since some generation, they've had their ceremony on the same day as the Yan family, always competing over who's more grandiose."
Listening to the townsfolk chatter, Zeng Shen smiled slightly, setting his eyes on the Huayang Village sign at the corner.
He was almost home.
Zeng Shen's home was in the southernmost part of Huayang Village, near agricultural land, quite far from both the town and village centers. Despite being surrounded by many self-built luxury estates, his home was modest.
His family lived there thanks to a land purchase ten years ago when the government offered land to eligible families. His mother borrowed money from her family to buy a 200-square-meter plot, later borrowing more to build a two-story house.
Financial constraints meant the exterior walls remained bare cement, without tiles, and the courtyard walls were merely brick remnants from other constructions.
When the No. 1 Divine Energy Vehicle parked in front of his home, Zeng Shen looked out at the familiar low brick walls and the courtyard's flowers and fruit trees, feeling a wave of nostalgia.
Turning to Xiao Ai beside him, Zeng Shen said, "Xiao Ai, this is the home I've lived in for ten years."
Xiao Ai nodded, surveying the unfinished two-story home and the old motorcycle parked at the door, remarking, "It seems you have guests, and if the motorhome stays here, the motorcycle won't be able to leave."
"Exactly, so I don't plan to block the road with the motorhome," Zeng Shen replied, driving the No. 1 Divine Energy Vehicle to an open space twenty meters away, in front of a neighboring estate before parking.
He and Xiao Ai, carrying various delicacies and supplements, got out and walked to his home.
The courtyard gate was unlocked, so Zeng Shen pushed it open and walked towards the house, peering through the mosquito net-covered doorway.
He spotted his parents, sitting on the waxed wooden chairs in the living room, brows furrowed. Opposite them, on another waxed wooden chair, sat an elderly man, thin and tall, smoking a pipe, his hair thick and white.
Zeng Shen recognized him as the eldest uncle of the Zeng family, though he couldn't recall his real name, only the nickname "Bald Zeng" used by his peers.
"So that motorcycle belongs to him," Zeng Shen thought, puzzled by the elder's rare visit.
His family rarely interacted with this so-called uncle. Why the sudden visit? Judging by his parents' expressions, it wasn't just a casual call. Perhaps he needed their help for something?
As Zeng Shen speculated, Xiao Ai nudged his arm slightly.
The elder was standing, pocketing a wad of cash from his mother's hands as he prepared to leave.
Returning to his senses, Zeng Shen stepped through the mosquito net, playfully calling out to his parents, "Dad, Mom, Hu Hansan is back."
His parents, Zeng Youcai and Wu Xian'e, startled by the familiar voice, turned quickly towards the door.
Seeing Zeng Shen with bags of gifts, their frowns eased, faces brightening with surprise as they noticed Xiao Ai behind him—a tall, elegant woman with wavy hair, resembling a mixed-race princess.
Their minds raced with assumptions, given their son's typical reluctance to bring girls home. Surely, this girl was someone special...
While they speculated, Bald Zeng quickly pocketed the money, grinning as he approached Zeng Shen. "Shen, it's been years since you've joined the ancestor worship. Since you're back, help your parents at the ancestral hall tomorrow and join the ceremony the day after."
"I'll go if I have time," Zeng Shen replied with indifference, primarily for his mother's sake, otherwise he'd avoid the ancestral hall and those who once treated his family harshly.
Bald Zeng, aware of Zeng Shen's estrangement due to past family tensions, said no more. He curiously glanced at Xiao Ai before leaving, starting his motorcycle and driving away.
Outside the courtyard, he noticed the giant "Wuling motorhome" parked by the Li family's estate.
Amazed, he thought, "If the Zeng family drove this to the ancestral hall, it would certainly turn heads, but the Li family is too stingy to lend it."
Shaking his head, he dismissed any connection between the vehicle and Zeng Shen, riding off without further thought.
