There's Something Off About My Pokémon. [58]

"I'll go find a nurse!" A-Le bolted out of the room. Lu Cheng hurried forward, and in the next moment, intense white light enveloped the battered body of the Golbat, causing all the medical instruments to go haywire.

"How is this possible!?" Ding Chong was momentarily stunned, then shouted, "No, Golbat, you're too injured to do this!"

However, Golbat stubbornly continued its evolution. If it could evolve successfully, it could save its trainer a huge medical bill! The searing pain made Golbat emit a high-frequency supersonic wave, causing everyone to clutch their ears in pain. The doctor rushed into the room, shouting, "Stop its evolution quickly! If this goes on, it might die!"

But it was too late. As the evolution neared its end, Golbat's body had already transformed—its massive mouth and sharp fangs emerged, tearing through the bandages wrapped around its wings, and its blue bone claws shredded the bedsheets to pieces. However, its breathing was faint, and the injuries it had sustained as a Golbat continued to torment its nerves. The heartbeat monitor showed almost no activity!

Ding Chong's eyes welled up with tears as he shouted, "Golbat!"

"Don't go near it!" the doctor suddenly ordered, stopping Ding Chong. "Wait! There might still be a chance!"

No one dared to disobey the doctor. They all backed away, and the young children clung tightly to their brother's hand, their faces already streaked with tears. The evolution into Crobat was not over yet! Crobat's body continued to contort, and the sound of cracking bones filled the room. Lu Cheng quickly shielded the little ones, preventing them from seeing the gruesome scene.

"Golbat is still evolving!?" Ding Chong looked at the doctor, losing his composure. The doctor, his expression grim, nodded and said, "At this point, it all depends on whether it can hold on."

---

As if to confirm the doctor's words, Crobat let out another piercing scream. This time, Pelipper shielded the three children with its wings well in advance. The white light continued to shine, and once again, the membranes on Crobat's wings tore open, slowly revealing a pair of purple wings. Blood mist sprayed from Crobat's body, staining the sheets and filling the room with a sickening, decayed smell.

Ding Chong's eyes turned bloodshot as he tightly clenched his fists, suppressing his emotions. In a low voice, he muttered, "Golbat…"

With a loud "crack," like the sound of bones breaking, a blue membrane peeled off Crobat's body, and the white light gradually faded. A purple figure emerged from the blurred mass of blood and flesh!

"What… is that?" A-Le gasped in shock.

It moved so fast that even Lu Cheng couldn't get a clear look, but the system's magnifying glass automatically locked onto the purple figure.

Crobat

Ability: Inner Focus

Nature: Brave

Moveset: Leech Life, Swift, Confuse Ray, Supersonic, Astonish.

Golbat had completed its consecutive evolution! The figure slowly came to a stop, and Crobat hovered in front of Ding Chong, looking at its trainer. Ding Chong's eyes were already brimming with tears, and he struggled to hold back from crying.

Crobat's head and body were fused together like a Russian nesting doll with a ghostly face painted on it. Its body was covered in purple fur, and its four wings, sharp like blades, flapped in the air. However, the wings still bore the horrific scars inflicted by Wartortle. The wounds had fused together during evolution, and although green pus was oozing from the injured areas, there was no more bleeding—the situation had greatly improved.

Crobat could no longer perch on Ding Chong's shoulder like Golbat had, so it hesitated, wobbling uncertainly as it searched for a place to land. In the next moment, Ding Chong threw caution to the wind and rushed forward, embracing Crobat despite its injuries. His younger siblings were already crying uncontrollably, but Crobat's blood-red eyes squinted happily.

It was overjoyed—its trainer wouldn't need to pay for the medical bills anymore.

Lu Cheng quietly left the room. He had made up his mind. No matter what, Wang Yingjie had to pay for what he had done.

Yixin Dojo. Gao Chi. Ranked No. 1 at Lingjun High School, from a family of Fighting-type Pokémon trainers, and a champion of the city's Youth Pokémon Tournament. He is the designated successor of Yixin Dojo and earned the honor of a black belt in karate at a young age. With so many titles on the shoulders of a boy under twenty, Gao Chi seemed to shine even brighter.

However, Gao Chi was a very low-profile person. Although he was unanimously seen as a favorite to win the championship before the competition, the spotlight in the later rounds was entirely stolen by Wang Yingjie. Despite dominating his matches, Gao Chi's popularity couldn't compare to other contestants. Yet, he didn't care at all.

Mature beyond his years, Gao Chi spent each day focusing solely on training his Pokémon. It seemed that, in his eyes, nothing else in the world was worth his attention.

"Master Gao, your towel!" In the empty dojo, only Gao Chi and his Machop remained, both drenched in sweat as they punched the sandbag, the sound echoing through the hall. Seeing Gao Chi pause, a girl with short shoulder-length hair tied in a neat little braid quickly rushed forward, handing him the towel in her hands. She, too, was dressed in a karate uniform, though her belt was only white.

Taking the towel, Gao Chi took a deep breath and said expressionlessly, "The dojo's closed now. You don't have to call me that anymore."

Hearing his words, the girl let out a sigh of relief, then smiled sweetly, "Big brother, you're definitely going to win the championship this time!"

"Gao Lu," Gao Chi frowned, "Nothing is certain until the end."

"No way!" Gao Lu hugged Gao Chi's arm, smiling, "Once you win this championship, no one will ever look down on Yixin Dojo again!"

At her words, Gao Chi silently pulled his arm away. This was a wound that Gao Chi and his father could never truly let go of. With an expressionless face, he said, "If father had been stronger back then, no one would have kicked down the dojo's sign."

"Brother!" Gao Lu protested, "Dad didn't want to lose either!"

"Skill matters, not excuses."

"Hmph," Gao Lu pouted, annoyed, "You and that Wang Yingjie are the same, always talking like his fans!"

"Wang Yingjie?"

"Yeah, that trainer who almost ripped Golbat's wings off!"

"No." Gao Chi didn't respond further, as he unwrapped the bandages on his hands and started walking back. Machop glanced at Gao Lu before following him.

"I would never do something that despicable," Gao Chi's cold voice echoed through the air.

Seeing her brother's unyielding attitude, Gao Lu stomped her foot angrily, punching the sandbag before crying out in pain, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Big dummy!" she muttered in frustration.
