Chapter 24

As Kara grew and basked in the golden rays of the sun over the years, so did her strength.

However, Kara has never underestimated Clark's potential. He may not be able to reach her level just yet, but she knows that one day, Clark will be incredibly strong.

Kara is aware that many enemies will arise in the future. For now, everything has been quiet, but that's because "Superman" has yet to officially emerge. Once Superman steps into the spotlight, events will begin to unfold one after the other. There have always been powerful enemies lurking in the shadows, waiting for their moment, but their current absence is only temporary.

That's why Kara has never rushed to act. The city has remained at peace, and even without a Superman or Supergirl protecting it, there hasn't been a need to intervene.

Kara is cautious because once she begins to take action, her presence could trigger the rise of those powerful enemies. For now, her priority is to accumulate strength while Clark matures.

Among her preparations, honing her combat skills is essential. Kara knows that among the future threats, there's a Kryptonian general and his soldiers. She and Clark might easily defeat most enemies, but if they face others from Krypton, the battle could be much harder.

Even though she and Clark are strong, they grew up on Earth and haven't been exposed to the hardships of Krypton, like the constant threat of Kryptonite or red sunlight. This could make them weaker compared to General Zod and his forces.

Kara isn't just strong—she's lived on Krypton for at least ten years. When the time comes, she may become Earth's primary protector, so she must work hard to become more dependable.

"Clark, I'm not abandoning you; it's just a brief separation. Maybe when you grow up, you can come live in the city where I'll be studying," Kara said, extending an invitation to her brother.

Clark, of course, could never be ordinary, and their adoptive parents, Jonathan and Martha, understood that. Their farm might not have anyone to inherit it, but they knew Clark's destiny was far greater.

Clark nodded eagerly, determined to follow in his sister's footsteps.

"Alright then," Kara said, stretching her arms after easing Clark's worries. "How about we hit the ocean? I feel like eating some king crab."

King crabs usually live hundreds or even thousands of meters below the ocean's surface. But that's no issue for Kara and Clark, who can withstand the immense pressure of the deep sea and hold their breath for hours.

Kara's abilities are especially impressive—she can now go an entire day and night without needing to breathe. Once, she even flew to the edge of the atmosphere, almost breaching it to venture into outer space.

At the time, she stopped because she feared being captured on satellite cameras. Afterward, Kara grew concerned about the dangers of space, with its many lethal elements, but she still doesn't know if she could survive out there. However, one day, she plans to take on that challenge, knowing that Superman's power comes entirely from the sun's golden light. The closer she gets to it, the stronger she'll become.

Maybe one day, Kara will fly straight to the sun to bask in its rays.

For now, those thoughts remain just ideas. Kara and Clark spent more than an hour on the island before returning home.

They dove into the sea.

With their super vision, they could easily see everything around them, even at the bottom of the ocean, and with their telescopic and x-ray vision, they could find the seafood they wanted without much trouble.

Kara, a bit of a foodie, made sure to satisfy her hunger before heading back, leaving behind a pile of king crab shells and lobster on the island's shore.

Jonathan and Martha stayed awake until their return to make sure they were safe. They could smell the ocean on their clothes and guessed where they had been. But seeing Clark in good spirits, they refrained from scolding Kara, only reminding them to be careful not to expose their powers or be seen in the future.

Jonathan had always worried that their abilities would cause panic among people and potentially affect the entire world's view of them. His caution was understandable, given how powerful Kryptonians are. Kara, in particular, now had the strength to destroy Earth if she wanted to. Not only could she do it easily, but there would be no one to stop her.

Kara didn't argue. She knew Jonathan and Martha treated her and Clark as their own children and only worried about their well-being. They weren't really trying to reprimand them.

"I've got a lot of reading to do tomorrow, so I'm heading to bed," Kara said, bidding them goodnight as she made her way upstairs.

Martha called after her, "Leave your clothes for me to wash later!"

Kara, now eighteen, still had her adoptive mother washing her clothes. Of course, Kara did a lot to help the family in other ways.

"Here?" Kara turned back and jokingly began unbuttoning her shirt.

"Upstairs!" Jonathan scolded with a grin.

Martha shook her head, amused. "This child…"

Kara dashed upstairs with a smile, changed into her pajamas, and tossed her clothes and shoes down the stairs.

The couple didn't even bother to argue with her.

Clark, on the other hand, was much more responsible. He sensibly changed into his pajamas, brought his clothes downstairs, and put them in the laundry himself.

There was a washing machine in the house, so Clark took it upon himself to get the laundry going, thinking he'd wash his shoes too since they both smelled of seawater after their underwater adventure.

Martha, however, insisted that he go to bed. "Leave it to me, Clark. It'll be done soon. Go get some sleep."

Clark nodded and headed upstairs.

Clark was a kind and sensitive soul. Part of the reason for this was his introverted nature and the fact that he had few friends at school. Another reason was that his strength had taken time to fully develop, and only in recent years had he begun to control it properly.

The main reason, though, was Jonathan's influence. Jonathan had always been deeply concerned with Clark's growth, hoping to mold him into a good person.

Kara respected Jonathan's methods, so she never interfered.

It was thanks to Jonathan's careful guidance that Clark would eventually grow into the Superman everyone admired.

Even Kara had been deeply influenced and educated by Jonathan.
