A Day of Distractions

"I trusted you," Jack whispered, his voice barely audible. "I trusted you with everything." 

Lena crossed her arms, her expression unreadable. "You were always too naive, Jack. It's why you're so easy to manipulate." 

Something inside Jack snapped. His knees buckled, and he collapsed to the ground, unconscious. 

"Jack!" Chloe screamed, rushing to his side. 

Liam crouched next to Jack, shaking him gently. "Bro, wake up! This isn't the time for a nap!" 

Lena stood over them, her face emotionless. "He'll wake up soon. We still have work to do." 

"Work?" Chloe spat, glaring at Lena. "You've done enough damage!" 

Lena's gaze flickered, but she said nothing.

As the group surrounded Jack, Caleb began to stir, his laughter filling the room once again. 

"You think this is the end?" Caleb taunted, his voice weak but defiant. "This is just the beginning."
