Chapter 6: The S.H.I.E.L.D Secret Base

Fury and Emma continued discussing; at the same time, their discussion was being analyzed by many experts to know whether she was lying or not.

It took them 25 minutes despite the car not even stopping once because the signal had always been green when they passed before as if it was done for them; she didn't doubt it was what SHIELD was doing.

During these 25 minutes, the two have more or less a basic understanding of each other.

Emma has to admit Fury deserves his reputation and feat; it's really ironic how you would see in some novel that some random person that happened to be reincarnated playing him like a child.

Fury also has to admit that Emma's intelligence is beyond his expectations; she seems more mature and not as naive as he thought.

'I know it; this was too good to be true; how come someone that's strong and easy to manipulate appears so easily at the critical moment?'

Well, Fury feels as if he was scammed; she was clearly not the patriotic person described in the document but more like a fifty-year-old grandma.

She is just talking about nonsense, saying anything but nothing at the same time; apart from when she talked about her power, she was always evading all his questions in one way or another.

Fury has to thank god that Emma can't read his mind or even Captain Marvel couldn't save him from becoming a paste of meat.

When she stepped out of the car, there wasn't anything around where they were; if not knowing Fury, she would have to wonder if it was one of those Mexican Series when she was transported to a desert place and silenced.

Thankfully, to her perception, she could feel many life just beneath her feet; she judged that it was very likely an underground base.

Seeing her curious face, Fury was satisfied, the money spent to make this base more mysterious wasn't in vain.

Fury started going forward while asking her to follow him; of course, Agent Quake was with them.

They approached what seemed to be just another piece of wasteland before Fury abruptly stopped.

He tapped some kind of mechanical device that was definitely not a watch on his wrist, and instantly, a mechanical hatch emerged from the ground.

'Well, not as impressive as I thought.', forgive her, but she has seen the barrier of Wakanda, Loki dissimulating the whole of Asgard, Karma Taj creating a portal dimension, and the various scenes in Tsunade's memory; this base can only be considered normal.

Fury didn't remark how she was on guard; right now, his mind is only about how powerful she is and what her abilities are.

They finally arrived at a room; no, it should be called a big hall; there were already many people waiting for them, with the room full of all kinds of instruments that are used for exercise or to test a person's strength.

While seeing those instruments, Emma thought that SHIELD was really prepared; she was then led to a room to change clothes that were more fit for physical activities.

While she was changing, Fury was giving orders to his subordinate: "How is it? Did you discover something wrong with her?"

One of the agents present replied: "We didn't find anything wrong with her, director. The only thing worth mentioning was her change of personality, but that should be due to her newly obtained strength; any person who suddenly found himself strength would feel elated for a while."

Fury nodded; that was also what he judged, but it was better to have an expert doing their work.

'Guess it's the perk of being wealthy, you can be as willful as you want.', thought Emma while inside, she was also curious about her strength without activating the Byakugō no In (Strength of a Hundred Seal)
