Chapter 49-[Bastards Trial]

Jon was riding with his men, they were heading towards the Dothraki city, to finish off the horse-lords once and for all. He had leveled up along the way, taking out a couple of Dothraki who had attacked them, reaching level 23 with 7 skill points.

The soldiers presumed that they would face an army of at least fifty thousand, so they brought thirty thousand soldiers with them.

The boy sighed, he planned to raze the Dothraki city with creatures first, but this time he would attack and the Dothraki would defend themselves.

Arya arrived in the city as was expected.

"Welcome," said a man who she recognized as the father of Talisa, Robb's wife.

"Thank you for the other time," she said.

"Come, let's go to my house, I assume you're coming for something important," he said.

Bran was sitting in a chair, Meera had gone out to say goodbye to her father, last night they had gotten married at the sacred tree of Winterfell.

Meera's father was very surprised by his daughter's wedding with Brandon, he believed that his daughter would not marry, but would become a warrior, but Robb was in favor so he was very happy at the news.

The children of the forest, whom Robb still does not believe are real, stayed to live in the sacred tree of Winterfell, apparently, according to them, it was as old as the wall and they enjoyed that.

Robb offered to build houses around them, but they refused, they preferred to sleep outdoors, or in caves, they did not have animal skins to wear or houses made of wood or stone like humans.

[T/N: Now I know why Robb was so easily convinced to marry Val.]

Robb sat on the throne in the main room, he had let Bran get up late as a newlywed, while he settled matters, he had three trials today, the Umber one had been postponed, since little Jon was dead and he had set guards for his son and wife, however two allies of the Boltons had to pay for their sins and the bastard too.

The three trials constituted the Whitehills, Karstark, and the Bastard.

His three prisoners would be Ludd Whitehill trapped in Winterfell, Cregan Karstark in battle, and Ramsay in Winterfell.

"Who's first? " Robb asked.

The guards escorted Ludd Whitehill, he knew the sadistic and selfish man perfectly, he would have been one of the main commanders in his army if it depended on Roose Bolton, fortunately, his distrust of Ludd made him choose the great Jon Umber.

He wasn't wrong.

"Oh again the king of the north, Robb" he provoked.

"As always, you don't know your place...But it's time to show you" said the boy.

Ludd snorted.

A guard punched him in the stomach.

"Enough, let's get this over with," he said.

"Lord Whitehill, you are accused of treason against House Stark, thousands of deaths of northerners under your orders, torture, and abuse of power," he said.

"Anything else?" he asked.

'How arrogant' Robb thought with annoyance.

Another blow was given.

"Anything else to say?" Robb asked.

Ludd shrugs.

"The Boltons are my lords, not the Starks, Roose Bolton told me what I had to do, and I did it...I have not committed any crime" he said with a smile.

"House Stark is the Main House of the North, not the Boltons. The day you knelt before me, you declared me your king, when you betrayed me you also betrayed that oath " he said.

Ludd shrugged again.

"And? Joffrey is the king, not you, the king of the north thing was nothing more than a bunch of nonsense to give you some title " he said.

Robb shook his head.

"No honor, no repentance...I declare you guilty, Lord Whitehill," said the king.

Ludd looked at him with a smile.

"I choose the wall," he said.

"No," Robb said.

The man looked at him confused.

"I said I choose the wall," he said.

"And I told you no," Robb said.

The Whitehill lord laughed.

"Do you hear yourself? You can't say no, it's my choice," he said.

Robb denied.

"The wall is the choice that the kings give to the prisoners, but it is my decision, not yours, to give it to you...The wall is already infected by a lot of garbage, I am not going to allow it to get any more dirty " said Robb.

The man looked at him furious.

"How dare you?" he said.

"As king of the north it is my responsibility to make the wall work, the night watch is a noble job, a duty for every northerner, it is not a facade to not pay for the crimes you committed," he said.

Ludd shook his head not believing what he heard.

"Your sons Torrhen and Ebbert will be hostages of the Forrester house, your daughter Gwyn will marry the second son of that house, Asher, and will be the new lord of Highpoint," said Robb.

The old man denied it.

"Take him to his cell, he will be granted a last supper before his execution," said the king of the north as Ludd was dragged out.

[T/N: ...I feel this is justice, though as someone from the modern era I am not a fan of forced marriage, but what can you do?]

Robb sighed as he saw him leave, and gave the order to bring the next one.

The guards entered with a man with brown hair, a beard, and a mustache.

"His majesty," the man greeted.

Robb nodded.

"Cregan Karstark is accused of treason against House Stark, thousands of deaths of northerners under his orders, and abuse of power," he said.

"I am innocent, we Karstarks have been threatened, to support the Boltons," he said.

Lie.

Robb knew, in White Harbor when Dacey was gathering allies, the eldest daughter of the Manderlys, a close friend of Alys Karstark, had informed Dacey that she was a prisoner in her own house and that they planned to marry her to Cregan so that he would become lord of the house.

Robb had taken it upon himself to send Dacey to bring her back, as a prisoner in the meantime, and spent the previous night talking to her.

"The Boltons have Alys, my dear cousin, in the fortress of terror, with the threat of death if we do not support them," he said with conviction.

Robb raised an eyebrow.

"Let them in," he said.

The man looked confused and the doors opened, the man turned pale when he saw a woman enter, she was a beautiful young woman, tall and thin, with blue eyes, with brown hair in a braid.

"Alys? " said this man.

"Hello dear cousin," she said sarcastically.

Robb asked her to explain her situation, but Cregan could not stop the girl from telling her father's plot to obtain the title of lord of the Karstark house.

"You are guilty, you are sentenced to be executed, Lady Alys will be given a husband suitable to carry the title of lord of the Karsatak, and your father will be sent to the wall with your brothers" Robb finished.

The man begged but they dragged him away. Robb fixed his gaze on Alys and she leaned down.

"Alys, you were very brave to confess the truth," said Robb.

At this, she bowed again.

"Unfortunately I can't help but punish your entire house, your father committed treason, his armies abandoned us in the middle of the war, and the worst thing was they joined the Boltons," he said.

"I understand his majesty," she said.

"Very brave indeed, you will go to Puerto Blanco, as a temporary prisoner," he said, knowing that she was a close friend of the Manderlys.

Alys was surprised at that.

"Are you sure?" she whispered.

Robb nodded.

"You will return to your house, to get married and I will say this here, your husband has not yet been selected, but I promise you that he will be a good man," he said.

"Thank you, Your Majesty," she said and left.

"Bring the bastard," Robb said.

Ramsay was brought in.

"Hello Robb," he said.

Robb ignored him.

"Ramsay Snow, you are accused of treason against House Stark, ordering thousands of deaths, burning people alive, torture, rape, abuse of power, killing your father, and killing King Stannis Baratheon," Robb said.

Ramsay made a surprised face.

"Oh, I'm sorry but they legalized me, I'm Bolton, Ramsay Bolton," he said.

Robb denied.

"The king is the only one with the power to legalize you and I am the king," he said.

"Oh ok, I guess you have a point there, as for the rest, I deny the charges," he said.

"Explain," he said.

"My father told me to do what he did, I never had the intention, it was my lord's order, if I didn't do it, I would be dead, also because of these orders, I would kill my father, as for Stannis, I sent him a provocative letter, But I didn't kill him," he said.

"Let them enter," he said.

The door opened and two people entered.

"My love," Ramsay said but he was being held back by the guards.

Jeyne looked at him with contempt and gave up the details of everything the bastard did.

Ramsay watched her come out with it.

"I didn't think she would be so angry, but it turns me on for some reason... Anyway, in my own defense she never refused, how would I know that that's rape if they don't refuse, I thought she liked it hard," he said.

'He's sick' he thought.

[T/N: Sick in the head, yes.]

Even the guards looked at him with revulsion.

And they turned to the man who was waiting, it was the master of the fortress of terror, and this time he gave his report of him.

"It's a lie," Ramsay said.

"Do you deny the evidence?" Robb asked.

Ramsay shrugged.

"Clearly they won't believe me, because we're not done with you...I want a trial by combat," he said.

Robb nodded.

"Very well, let the gods judge. Your champion?" he asked.

"Myself," Ramsay replied.

Robb nodded.

"If I may, Your Majesty, I would like the honor," He heard Dacey say.

He nodded.

Ramsay smiled.

"A Mormont, I never had a Mormont" he smiled.

"Give him a sword," said the king of the north.

One of the guards threw one to the ground.

The boy grabbed it and ran the sword over his tongue.

Dacey took out her war hammer.

They both studied at each other.

And Dacey jumped towards him.

Ramsay could barely contend with the girl's power, but he laughed out loud anyway.

"Come on Mormont, come on," he said.

The girl rolled her eyes at him.

"Blow of light," she murmured.

A blinding light hit Ramsay's eyes.

The boy closed them.

Dacey hit him in the head with the Warhammer, knocking him to the ground.

"Double Blow," she whispered.

And she threw her Warhammer with all her power at Ramsay's face.

The blow was heard throughout the room, Ramsay's face was crushed to the floor.

He was dead.

But that didn't stop the girl from hitting him three more times.

"The gods have spoken," said Robb.

" Are the trials over? " asked Bran, who was being pushed in his wheelchair by Meera.

Robb nodded.

"He chose trial by combat, he was never a great warrior," he said.

"He's never been healthy," Bran said.

Robb nodded.

"Oh by the way, did you gain powers?" He asked Meera.

The girl nodded somewhat blushing.

"Meera is a spear user," Bran said proudly.

Meera blushed even more.

"I see, interesting," he said.

"Rikkon hasn't returned?" he asked.

Robb denied.

He had sent Rikkon with the Mormonts to bring the lords and ladies of different houses, to hold a meeting of trusted lords and explain the future of the north.

Bran still couldn't see his brother, or Osha, he had been very worried about them.

"Have you seen Jojen?" she asked.

Robb denied.

"He must be with the children, I think he likes to be with them," Bran said.

She nodded.

"Well now that it's done, have you thought about what to do," said Robb.

Bran had seen Talisa, who tried to cure him, without success, Talisa believed that if she increased her level perhaps she could do it, Bran would wait. He had hoped to be able to walk but for now, it was not possible.

Robb had given judgments against the most important houses, but other houses received other judgments, without the king being present. In the north, Robb's allies took control of forts and territories of traitors, or people suspected of treason.

They were being investigated.

And if they were found guilty, the punishment varied from political prisoners to execution. Robb had never given the maximum punishment, even to Ramsay, which consisted of the Lord's execution and the family's exile from the North.

However, the decision to move towards the Freys was something that was on everyone's mind. When both Bran and Rikkon learned of Catelyn's death, their desire for revenge clouded their judgments.

The three-eyed raven was barely holding them back, if it weren't for Robb and Meera. Robb understood their feeling, he felt it firsthand and still does, but they shouldn't rush things.

The Freys would die.

They would receive the northern fury.

Robb had sent for the lords and heirs of the Mormonts, Cassel, Cerwyn, Condon, Dustin, Woolfield, Glover, Manderly, Mollen, Slate, and Locke, who were the ones who joined him in the war against the Boltons.

While his men were currently investigating the lords of Ashwood, Flint, Holt, Hornwood, Ironsmith, Lake, Lightfoot, LongMarsh, Moss, Overton, Poole, Ryswell, Stout, Tallhart, Waterman and Wells were being investigated.

There have been several other trials.

But the main houses of the Boltons, the Karstarks, and Whitehill were already doomed with their lords.

Robb sighed.

"I hope Rikkon doesn't take much longer," he murmured.
