Exponential Leveling

Many stories include leveling systems. One problem they almost always fall to is that after a while leveling up becomes a background task, and it seems almost unimportant as the characters skills are simply too broken anyways. I have always loved the idea of leveling being at the center of a novel, so I decided, "Surely it can't be that hard to write a novel" this is my first work, so please don't roast it too bad.
