Flash Back to Dinner Time.
Sora's POV
"Anneonghaseyo," I bowed at Mr. and Mrs. Min, feeling slightly uneasy as I entered the private dining lounge with Yoongi.
"Ah! Sora, you don't have to be formal with us. Join us," Mrs. Min brightly smiles at me. There's something wrong about that smile... or maybe I'm just imagining it??
"Jakiya...?" Yoongi raised his eyebrow as he drew the seat for me. I snapped off my thoughts and turned to smile at him. I keep recalling the things Taehyung, Namjoon, and Mr. Jeon warned me about. Can I trust the Mins?
"How have you been, Sora?" Mr. Min smiles at me from the opposite side of the table. I didn't know we were going to have a family dinner. I thought it was just Yoongi and me.
"I have been well, how are you... sir?" I turned to look at Yoongi because I didn't know how to address his parents. I shouldn't speak casually with them.
"We're not strangers. Make yourself comfortable," Mr. Min shook his head at my awkward response. I nodded shyly and exhaled in relief, but Yoongi remained stiff in his seat.
"What's wrong?" I whispered, turning to look at Yoongi, who was staring at his parents without blinking. Why is he so tense?
"Wha-what? Oh- I'm fine," Yoongi stuttered and blinked at me. The Mins are usually bright people... but the atmosphere within the room... was really intense. It didn't feel like a family gathering at all.
"We actually wanted to discuss an important matter with you, Sora," Mrs. Min cleared her throat, so I turned my body towards her. Discuss? About what? What is there to discuss about?
"What's your plan with Yoongi?" She questioned with a keen smile.
"N-neh?" I asked in confusion. Why is she asking me that?
"I mean, what's your future plan with Yoongi?" Mrs. Min chuckled lightly, but I was still unsure. Yoongi placed his hand on mine under the table.
"I hope to be there for him through all the good and bad," I shyly smile at her. We've been together for a while now. Although I haven't thought much of our future, I want to be with him regardless of our situation.
"An ordinary...," Mr. Min suddenly chuckles under his breath.
"Neh?" I asked, feeling a bit nervous when my heart dropped a little. Did he just say I'm an ordinary?
"Father, you promised," Yoongi gritted lowly as he squeezed my hand. I turned to look at Yoongi. What's wrong with him? Why is he so pale?
"Of course, Yoongi. I meant you want to live an ordinary life with Yoongi like you used to," Mr. Min averted his eyes to me, but there was no warmth in his eyes. It was dim. His eyes showed no emotions. This isn't right- SORA! You're overthinking! He's not Taehyung!
"Neh, that's what I thought," I agreed and smiled at Mr. Min.
"You do realize that's impossible, right? Given the current circumstances," Mrs. Min exhaled heavily and turned to look me dead in my eyes. What's going on? Yoongi clenched my hand and swallowed hard at his mother's cold expression.
"Mother, what did-"
"I know Yoongi. I meant that it's dangerous for you to return to your old life, and I'm worried about you two," Mrs. Min suddenly broke into a bright smile. That's odd... I feel so... edgy around them.
"Yes, it is quite impossible," I nodded, unsurely smiling at the Min to break the tension. Yoongi can't return to his ordinary life, not after being exposed to the alphas.
"Yoongi will put you at risk Sora because you're his weakness. I'm worried," Mr. Min sighed, looking at me sadly. Suddenly, I didn't know what to say, so I speechlessly stared at them. What the hell do I say? We'll endanger each other.
"I'm going to protect her," Yoongi insisted, darting his parent a stern stare. Why is he so tense?
"The Jeon and Kim are protecting you, I believe?" Mr. Min ignored Yoongi's stare and turned to look at me instead.
"They are-"
"Yet you're always caught up in troubles. Now tell me, are they even trying to protect you?" Mr. Min stared right into my eyes, sending shivers down my spine. Those eyes. No no no! He's not Taehyung! He's not like Taehyung!
"They are protecting me. The elders did their best- I'm the t-trouble maker," I stuttered, glancing down at my hand in guilt. I'm always the troublemaker.
"I see, and you expect to be with Yoongi-"
"APPA! HAJIMA," Yoongi suddenly slammed his fist on the table, startling everyone.
"Are you sure you're okay?" I turn to look at him anxiously as he shakily breathes.
"Yoongi, there's nothing you can do-"
"There's a solution, and I want to propose it," Yoongi cut off his father. His hand slowly curled into a tight fist as he stared furiously at his parents. That energy... just like Taehyung- NO! Sora stop!
"What can you do?" Mr. Min sighed, turning to look at Yoongi dryly. What are they talking about? I'm lost.
"I'll marry her, so no one can harm her-"
"Marry Sora?" Mrs. Min suddenly let out a screeching laugh, but she abruptly stopped. It took me a moment to comprehend what Yoongi said and it struck me. My cheeks flushed red in shock.
"You're right, if you marry her, she'll be placed under our complete protection, but you still have to finish your study-"
"I don't need to study anymore. I've got everything," Yoongi chuckled while shaking his head, except it didn't feel like Yoongi's nature at all.
"Min Yoongi! Don't be a fool! Your study is important! You can't just inherit everything without proper knowledge of the society!" Mr. Min snapped at Yoongi angrily. I glanced back and forth as they argued with each other.
"Doesn't matter, as long as Sora is breathing- I'll do anything for her. For us. Nothing else matters, and let me make it clear appa- I am willing to cross all the lines for her," Yoongi claimed while glaring at Mr. Min. Yoongi's words made me feel all sorts of emotions. I wanted to hug him, and I wanted to cry, but somehow, I was afraid of the unforeseen consequences. Why...? I turned to look at Mr. Min uncomfortably. He was staring dully at his son. The room suddenly grew silent. Oh god... this doesn't feel right.
"Yoongi, don't say that-"
"I'm happy for both of you," Mr. Min smiled and lifted his wine glass.
"What?" Yoongi asked while staring at his father unsurely.
"As long as you're happy, I'm happy. I respect your decision, son," Mr. Min smiled, raising his glass at us. Yoongi and I exchanged nervous glances when my phone started vibrating.
"I'm sorry, excuse me," I quickly got up and left the room. Who the hell is calling me?
"Unknown?" I whispered with my eyes trained on the unknown number.
"Hello?" I answered the call.
"Don't go home," A familiar male voice spoke through the line. That voice... I know that voice.
"What? Who are you?" I asked in confusion.
"Don't go home tonight, or you'll meet your tragic end," The voice warned in a low tone. I lowered my phone in confusion and furrowed my eyes at the screen.
"Is this a prank? Because it's not funny," I snapped and hung up on the call. Yoongi, his parents, and I had dinner together throughout the night. The good thing was they stopped talking about the strange things. Instead, they made jokes and laughed at memories of our days back in Busan. And just like that, they were the sweet and kind aunty and uncle I knew back in Busan again.
Maybe I was just overthinking? Yoongi didn't laugh much... he sat quietly staring at his food.
Whoever the caller was, he was right. I shouldn't have gone home that night because someone tried to murder me.
Present
"So that's what happened? Sora, the Min is opposing your relationship with Yoongi," Jungkook exhaled while staring at me from the opposite side of the room as the nurse withdrew his blood.
"I'm sure I know that voice," I whispered, deep in my thoughts.
"Sora, it doesn't matter. Whoever called you knew you were in danger. But what's important was that Yoongi's parents tried to murder you, and they didn't even try to hide it," Jungkook shot me an anxious look.
"No, I'm sure it wasn't them! I mean- I just had dinner-"
"Sora, for god's sake! Think will you? Yoongi said he'll do anything for you as long as you're breathing !" Jungkook rolled his eyes at me.
"So if I stopped breathing..." I whispered in realization. Oh...
"Yeah, if you're dead- Yoongi won't-"
"No, it's not them," I refused to believe him. It can't be- It can't be!
"Sora-"
"It's not them. It's someone else- I'm sure they don't want to hurt Yoongi-"
"SORA! Listen! They've already confessed their intention! Stop being so naive!" Jungkook snapped in irritation.
"What do you mean-"
"They came by earlier to confirm your condition. They claimed they had to eliminate you because they didn't have a choice... I'm sorry, but it's them. Stop defending the culprit," Jungkook bit his lips anxiously as he stared at me.
"They did...?" I whispered while staring at him. Jungkook nodded at me and let out a heavy sigh. I glanced down at my hands... numbed by the truth. So all those smiles and laughter... it was fake? They were cheering for my death? And Yoongi knew? All along? My chest churned intensely as I thought of him.
"Sora!" Jungkook called and waved his hand before my face to snap me out of my thoughts.
"Huh?" I asked, turning to look at him as the nurse gathered the medical supplies.
"Let's go for a walk," Jungkook smiled, holding out his hand.
"I-I don't feel like-"
"Oh, come on. Yoongi and you won't last anyway, so you better get over him soon," Jungkook huffed, helping me off the bed.
"I'm gonna kill you. Yoongi wouldn't do that to me!" I smacked his arm with all my might. Is he trying to ruin my relationship just because I ruined his chance with Minah?!
"Ah!" Jungkook gasped, clutching his arm, and stared at me in shock.
"Shut up!" I snapped while glaring at him.
"Is that all you've got?" He smirked at me.
"I'm gonna kill you once I recover," I whispered while putting on the slippers. Jungkook pushed my IV stand and left the infirmary with me. FLASH CRASH! Memories of the car accident kept on replaying in my head. Yoongi...
"YAH!" Jungkook snapped and nudged me in annoyance.
"Moh?" I turned to look at him in confusion.
"You didn't listen to me, did you?" Jungkook glared in frustration. Cute... WHAT NO! NO NO! What are you thinking?! Did I hurt my head?!
"Sorry, I'm a bit exhausted," I apologized. How can I think that way of him!? He's a jerk!
"Sit down then. I was talking about the Alpha Ceremony," Jungkook sighed, helping me settle onto the bench in the garden.
"Yeah, what about it?" I asked dismissively.
"It's next week, recover quickly, or I won't have a date to attend it with," Jungkook sat down and darted me a bitter look. He wants me to attend the ceremony with him? Wae? Why am I always involved in their stupid affairs! I'm so tired!
"What? What does it have to do with me?" I scoffed at him. His cheek flushed pink, so he turned away from me. Or maybe it was my imagination?
"You're my date of- of course!" Jungkook stuttered after briefly glancing at me.
"I didn't even say I was going with you!" I chuckled at him. Jungkook snapped his head towards me with an offended look. So, I gulped and fell quiet.
"D-do you think I want to go with you?! ANI! Appa told you to go with me, remember!?" Jungkook complained as he stared at me with his eyes wide open. Why is he so snappy?
"Relax, will you? I was just kidding," I laughed, lightly nudging him with my shoulder.
"What were you thinking... jeez," Jungkook mumbled under his breath as he fidgeted with his fingers without looking at me.
"I'm an average though. You need to be with someone powerful," I smiled at him. Jungkook quickly glanced at me and back to his hands. What's up with him?
"Appa wants to protect you. You could've gone with Yoongi, but after what happened- I'm the best choice you have since Taehyung is still ignoring you," Jungkook shrugged, bitterly leaning against the bench. He seems... oddly... nice...?
"I can go with Jimin. Why don't-"
"Jimin has a date, I believe. His parent always set him up with someone," Jungkook quickly cuts me off.
"I'll just stay home then-"
"No, you can't!" Jungkook snapped in frustration.
"Why not...?" I asked, observing him as he glanced back and forth uncomfortably.
"Not safe- You can't hide from the society, or you won't last," Jungkook coughed while avoiding my eyes. He's flustered. It's funny. I must be hurting his pride.
"You can go with Minah. Try asking her," I nudged him.
"She asked me already- now don't change the topic!" Jungkook huffed in irritation.
"She did? Why didn't you... Oh! You want to make her jealous?! Smart move!" I smacked his arm excitedly. He's playing hard to get now, huh..?
"Ani- It's not like that-"
"Sure, I'll help you out," I smiled at him brightly when he suddenly turned to look at me dead in the eyes.
"What? Am I annoying you?" I straightened myself and stopped smiling. Why is he looking at me as if he wants to smack the shit out of me...?
"You're unbelievable sometimes," Jungkook shook his head before getting up onto his feet.
"Where are you going?" I asked him. I am annoying the shit out of him, aren't I?
"Going to get some water, stay here," He quickly rushed off.
"What's with him?" I chuckled, getting up to examine the water in the fountain. As soon as he was gone... the dark thoughts came looming back inside me.
Does Yoongi know about this? Was that why he acted weird during dinner? And who warned me? I'm sure I know it! How can I not remember the owner of the voice? Yoongi's parents made it clear they don't want me with Yoongi. Of course. I'm an average, and Yoongi is an alpha. Now what? I'm still alive. I'm sure they want me dead. What now? I let out a loud sigh... I feel so heavy.
"Do you think Taehyung is still mad at me?" I asked without turning around when I heard Jungkook's footstep approaching me from behind. He said nothing but stood in silence.
"Well, I don't expect him to-" I was cut l short when I turned to find the familiar leather jacket, boots, blonde hair, and dark brown eyes staring right back at me. I froze in my position with my mouth hanging open as Taehyung stood before me. Oh no. My cheek flushed red in embarrassment as I searched for words to utter.
"I-I'm sorry... W-when did you-you get here?" I asked, glancing away while scratching my head, feeling super embarrassed. SHIT SHIT! This is so awkward now! God. I want to disappear into thin air!
"I am still mad. You're not forgiven," Taehyung blankly replied. His words made my heart grow even heavier, but I didn't complain and tried to hide my discomfort.
"No, you shouldn't forgive me. I'm sorry," I whispered while looking down, feeling a bit hurt and embarrassed at the same time. Taehyung didn't budge and kept eyeing me with his vacant eyes to the point- I felt really uncomfortable.
"I-I should get g-going," I muttered, avoiding his eye contact after forcing a smile and pushed my IV stand away from him.
"I am mad at you for hurting yourself," Taehyung replied. Huh?
"What do yo-you mean?" I asked, turning to look at him but not directly in his eyes though... I gave him quick glances.
"I'll never forgive you for almost leaving me behind last night," Taehyung clenched his fists as he stared at me dead in my eyes.
"W-what?" I tilted my head in confusion.
"H-how can you get yourself into such a dangerous situation after all my warnings?" Taehyung fired me a disappointed look. He did. He warned me, but I never listened to him.
"Taehyung. I'm sorry-"
"Don't ever do that again. Never. You have to listen to me because I'm the only person praying for your well-being," Taehyung took a step forward, causing me to flinch in fright.
"Wh-what are you talking about?" I stuttered as my heart raced in panic. I have no idea what he's talking about!
"Never leave me again. Please... just please stop making me worry about you. I feel like I'm going insane, Sora. I'm begging you. I can't stand it," Taehyung's face dimmed at his words even if he tried to suppress his emotions. He fought to keep his eyes from tearing up while staring at me in pain.
"Taehyung..." I whispered, taking a step towards him as my chest churned in pain.
