POV: Finn the human.
Leo wondered while watching the show how Finn and Jake sometimes knew where to go for their adventures.
It had never made sense at all.
Yes, it had been shown that they would stumble on certain scenarios and sometimes they would supposedly hear the cries of help from those in need but how was that even possible with the size of the land of Ooo! It made no sense at all.
Finn could also remember that the show had points where the two would use telephones or holographic equipment mostly given to them by Bonnibell so she could easily call them.
To this day he still wondered whether the adventure time world was technological or was it simply magic that made everything possible in the world.
He was very sure there even existed a form of internet in this world, no matter how it had never been really focussed on during the show.
It was under these thoughts that he had come to two simple conclusions, one of them was the magical properties of the magic dog Jake allowing him to do such weird things and the other was the more obvious reason, Adventure Time was a cartoon world, it would obviously not follow normal world reasoning.
But, Leo could only accept such an explanation. At the end of the day, Adventure Time was a show that had magical elements.
Maybe that could explain how such situations were made possible. It was how he would start explaining most of the things that made no sense to him.
But another possibility had shown itself most unexpectedly. One that Finn could only accept due to the world he was living in being real and not the slightly comedic show he knew of. And the fact that he was perhaps the protagonist of this world may have had a hand in all of it.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Adventure Time . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
TIME: A few Days Ago
Leo was many things, a genius, a prodigy, and sometimes an otaku. But something that very few were aware of was the fact that he was also a clean freak. Which when many figured out quickly surprised them.
Why? Was it not a contradiction? How could someone who worked constantly with machines be a clean freak? How could someone who wanted to go on adventures and fight monsters be a clean freak? It was a contradiction in a way. But nonetheless, it was a fact. A fact that persisted in this new life
Finn had been doing his type of spring cleaning on the house. But it also had double results as it allowed him to further get used to the tree house surroundings. A double win in his own mind.
At the very moment, they were in the second living room, him and Jake.
After Finn had informed Jake of his plan to do some cleaning, Jake had quickly agreed and pulled out the necessary equipment, a dusting feather, broomsticks, and other detergents, Finn was actually surprised this time there was nothing magical in the bunch.
He presumed magic would have been useful in such a situation. And he had asked Jake why this was not so.
" Cleaning a house is like when you're preparing your favorite piece of food, Finn. To make it just right, you don't add excessive spices overcook it, or burn it but it just has to be right. Without using complicated procedures! "
Jake had said Confidently, as if he had said something that made sense and Finn was quick to offer judgment.
" I don't see how that answers my question about using magic to clean the house. " Finn said mockingly waiting for an answer.
" It doesn't, HAHAHAH! " Jake burst out laughing and Finn remained silent after that his frown present. Finn would never admit that he found the joke funny.
Jake was in character at this very moment, humming a catchy tune as his stretchy body had turned into a maid outfit.
Finn nodded along to the tune doing a little dance as he moved along the places he was cleaning, quickly dusting the areas to as close as perfection as possible.
This was going on for a while and Finn eventually met a bothersome piece of web that was slightly above his reach. Every indication of stretching had failed and so far jumping was not working at all. He blamed that he was a child.
Curses!!!
So, Finn did the next best thing, he called Jake to quickly come by and help him up.
" Jake, come give me a boost! "
Jake made a body duplicate and it immediately rushed over without question while the original Jake continued now breaking into a whistle of the song he was humming before while dancing.
" Hahah. " Finn laughed as he was hoisted by the body double over to the space with the pesky web.
" Sorry, not sorry. " Finn saw a bug trapped there looking at him with the biggest help me eyes but his own resolve persisted. No germs would live that day.
" Jake, you can lower me now. "
The job was quick and efficient and as the body double started to go lower, something caught Finn's attention.
It was a record, one he clearly remembered from his childhood. A memory was sparked from these objects. On nights he could not sleep and Martha would play the record.
The good old times. Finn would one day visit their graves, to offer thanks for them taking care of him. And he also missed them.
" Stop for a bit Mushy Jake. " Finn lightly tapped the Jake double and he reached for the record lodged within the tree hole.
Finn wondered how the record had gotten here. Perhaps Jake had brought it?
" Hmm. " Finn exerted his strength and pulled the record, Surprisingly, it was stuck quite tightly, but this was nothing some elbow grease wouldn't fix.
' Plop '
"[ Crushing objects ] "
The record dislodged itself with several other objects he was unaware were kept inside there.
" Mind Games by Jay T. Doggzone . . . " The book suddenly disappeared from Finn's hand before he could look at more.
" Hahah. Ignore that book, you're not ready for it yet. " Jake said casually while the book melted into his body.
Normally, Finn would have been curious why Jake showed such a response but with his knowledge, he was partially aware that the book entailed bad relationship advice once Finn did a quick look in his memory.
But Finn could not help as he smiled slyly at Jake, and Finn could see the visible discomfort from his body.
" So Jake, what's all this stuff? " Finn asked the only logical person who would have an answer.
" Huff. " Jake breathed out in relief as if a burden had been lifted off his shoulders. Jake felt lucky that Finn had not asked him anything about the book. That would have been a weird talk.
" This is my tree hole Finn and all this is just real stuff I'd rather not deal with. So I just Jam it in my tree hole. "
" This sure is a lot of stuff. " Finn found himself saying as he observed some of the objects lying around. Some are useless and others useful. Like that video recorder. Finn thought that had potential use.
" Yeah I like stuff and I don't like throwing them away. " Jake said and nodded to his reasoning.
" Hehehehe " [ inaudible chuckle]
" Hey did you hear that? " Finn asked as he looked around weirdly but then another object fell out of the tree hole, quickly catching his attention.
Finn tried going over both his memories to recall where this old-looking machine was from but the best he could remember was seeing it back in their old house, being used by their parents for whatever reason.
"Jake, what's this? " Finn asked curiously as his own logical mind tried to come to a conclusion about the weird machine. And how exactly did it fit in the tree hole?
" Oh, that. That used to belong to mom and dads. Back when they used to investigate monsters and stuff. It printed out adventures and missions for them to go on. But it's pretty old, I don't think it works anymore. " Jake said remembering his good old mom and dad, and quickly wiped a tear away.
This event went on without Finn's knowledge. He was deep in thought.
'Wasn't this too convenient? ' He thought about the machine's sudden appearance.
' And that earlier sound. ' Finn wondered whether the two events had a connection, the sound he heard earlier and the machine.
But that was beside the point. With this machine, wouldn't his adventuring become easier?
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Adventure Time . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Yes, it was this machine that allowed The two to go on their first adventure, despite it requiring a quick slap to make it work and some repairs to keep it working.
Finn had opened the machine up and went over everything about it and the fact that he could remake it with precision and it would not function the same way the original did only meant this one was magical.
" Hold on. " Jake said and stretched higher up the tree fort, to another separate door that would lead them directly to the tree fort's second living room where the machine awaited them more pristine than it was.
The machine had already compiled its first mission and all that was left was for Finn and Jake to get to it.
Jake had disappeared into the kitchen saying something about making them branch as Finn read their mission.
" The veggie village in the grassland regions has been set on fire and the veggie people require immediate help. "
. . . . . . . . End . . . . .
A chapter about how Finn and Jake normally hear about their missions and the solution I came up with, some time has passed as you might have noticed.
Who might have guessed the identity of the person who was laughing? Put all your guesses below.
