Virtya was planning to tell the workers to bring the axle so that they could start connecting the steel turbine blades on it but Alexandre appeared in front of him even before he ordered the workers.
Alexandre's hair was drenched and it stuck on his skin as if it was glued on it, his clothes were totally wet and it could be seen that he was holding a wine gourd in his hand and he would take a sip of the wine in it from time to time before releasing a weak grimace.
Alexandre wiped the remnants of the rain droplets from his face and then he licked his lips before he focused his eyes on Tanya who was beside Virtya.
"It is chilly and windy out here, right?" Alexandre asked Tanya but instead of answering him, Tanya only nodded. This action could be vaguely seen by Alexandre because it was dark out here but they could still see each other's faces.
Tanya shifted his glance from Alexandre and stared at the impregnable darkness that prevailed around the plunge pool.
"Alexandre took another sip of his wine from the gourd and shifted his glance at Virtya.
"Man... What do you think? I don't like this environment at all. Not to mention that the weather is now getting on my nerves... I think we should just call it a day." Alexandre suggested. He sighed with his face scrunched up before he wiped the rain drops from his face with the sleeves of his wet coat.
Virtya exhaled deeply and scanned the environment around him. Even if he was closer to the waterfall which was far from where the cement plant would be situated, he could still vaguely see that the activities of building the cement plant was still ongoing even in this darkness. The workers at the plateau had lit up several torches and they were working tirelessly to ensure that the cement plant came to being. However, deep down, Virtya knew that these workers were dead tired, it was just that he was adamant about finishing this project early but when he saw the state of Alexandre who was now not in the moods to work because he had already started drinking. Probably, the place where Alexandre was stationed was currently unsupervised.
If this was Alexandre, then what about the state of labourers that had been pushing and pulling the wagons, steel, masonry and other difficult labour, how were those workers feeling? Would they even be able to wake up tomorrow?
'I have to allow them to go and eat supper and rest so that they could work tommorow.' Virtya decided. Alexandre's words had opened his eyes which were previously veiled by his determination to finish this project.
Virtya stared at Tanya and he felt that even if Tanya was putting up a brave front, he knew that she was trembling because of the cold.
"Poor girl."
"Who is the poor girl here? I only see Tanya and a few female workers, I don't know which one amidst them that you are talking about." Alexandre took another sip from the wine gourd and grimaced, he took a step forward and he almost stumbled before he stabilized himself.
"This shitty place is getting on my nerves. Just look at all this shit around me. My legs hurts just because of the mud that wants to swallow me that much! Bastards! I am sure this is the fault of the people that were buried here a long time ago. They want to pull me into the mud so that I can die like them. Bastards! I will leave from this place and there is nothing that they are going to do to stop me. Damn dumbass!" Alexandre misstepped once again and he fell onto the muddy terrain before he sprawled. The wine gourd escaped from his grip and rolled for a few centimeters before it was stopped by the unevenness of the muddy terrain.
"Oooh man! I am sick of this shit. The damn bastards can't even allow me to enjoy my wine. They should rest in peace and allow us the living to live happily. How dare they meddle in our affairs? Who gave them the permission? These dead men should be taught a lesson or two for making me to fall on top of this shit. Champ! Don't let this go, you should avenge me... Here, please pull me up. I am a little bit tired you know... I have been working tirelessly all day and I feel like my bones can shatter anytime. Ooh poor me!" Alexandre raised his hand towards Virtya so that he could pull him up but again, at the corner of his eye, Alexandre vaguely saw the gourd that was slightly far away from him and then he retracted his hand and started squirming towards the gourd.
