Layla's eyes immediately fill with tears at that, and she reaches out to grasp Robin's hands. "I didn't do anything wrong, I swear," she pleads. "It's all a misunderstanding, a set-up. It's probably my enemies or Malik's mistress, they're trying to tear us apart, and I can't let that happen. Please, darling, you have to help me."
It's all lie, Robin knows but she can't help but still feel a surge of revulsion at layla's shameless lying, any smidgen of pity she had felt for the woman dashed away.
She wants to rip her hands from her grip and scream at her but she forces herself to remain calm and composed.
"Okay, Layla," she says, "What do you want me to do for you?"
Layla's eyelashes flutter shakily, a hint of suspicion flickering across her face. "I need you to keep an eye on Malik," she says, her voice urgent, "I'm scared he's going to go to his other woman. I know he's going to use this as an excuse to leave me."
Robin's heart skips a beat.
