12 . Meeting Sarah Connors Part 2/2 [ slightly Edited ]

Mika felt the silence return to the room . The orchestra of crickets and frogs once again filled the night in a soothing symphony that entranced him , stealing away his attention.

" She's not here ." Mika said after he augmented his hearing to the max .

He quickly took both the blood keys that had dropped from both contestants and inspected them curiously . Mika finally stored them into his space . He moved to inspect the three dead bodies . 

A woman with blonde hair and a man with darker hair . Their bodies were close together and the most violently killed .

The two had a permanent terrified expression on their faces and Mika wondered how they felt before they died . 

Were they worried for their daughters survival , were they glad that she managed to get away . He would never know . 

Mika caught something glowing from the woman's neck . A simple golden necklace with a locket . He picked it and received a system message .

Mika took the necklace and stored it in his space . He finally moved to the remaining dead body , the sole contestant that had not died by his hands . He wondered why they attacked him . 

Did he have second thoughts about killing the kid after killing her parents or did they suddenly have a falling out . This , he would also never know .

Mikael would have screamed in joy if he wasn't trying to be stealthy . 2 !! That was a significant increase even for someone such as himself and even better, the title was upgradable .

Luckily, he did not have to permanently keep the artifact . He just had to stay with it for long enough until the system had notified him .

Mika finally walked out of the cabin . He was calm about the whole situation despite the dire situation he was in .

Mika understood that he quickly had to find the girl before anything bad happened to her but realistically , how far could a little girl run . 

Mika started putting himself into her perspective . If he were a little terrified girl that had just had her parents killed , where would he hide . 

Mika looked at the forest beside the lake and shook his head. Most kids were afraid of the dark . For one to go into a dark forest was not likely .

If it was him, he would go to some place familiar . Some place he would feel safe due to it's familiarity.

Mika looked back at the cabin and shook his head once again . If she was in there , he would have heard her .

He looked around for presence of a car or some sort of vehicle they could have used to arrive here but there was none . 

He finally gazed at the lake and spotted the wooden dock . 'She couldn't be hiding under there . . . right ? '

Mika rushed to the wooden dock as he recalled snippets of the movie when the T-800 first met Sarah Connors . 

Mika could finally hear it the closer he got to the dock . His enhanced hearings could finally pick up the slow breathing noise over the sound of frogs and crickets .

Now that he thought about it , this really was a good hiding spot .

Her body heat would be camouflaged by the cold water and any noise she made would be drowned out by the sound of crickets and frogs . 

He stepped on the dock and looked through the cracks it held .

He could see the dark silhouette in the water and he understood he needed to take a careful approach . How exactly was he supposed to convince a scared child that he wanted to help her .

" Hey Sarah , I'm here to help you . " Mika tried sounding warm and comforting . It was scientific proven even the most scared animal could be coerced into relaxing . 

" I got rid of all the bad people who wanted to hurt you . " Mika could finally perceive a change in her intent , but she still refused to come out . 

" My name is Mikael . I talked to your mom . She told me to find you and keep you safe . " Mika slowly moved to the edge .

He didn't wish to startle her . " You're mom also told me that you're a strong girl who was taught not to trust strangers . " 

Mika kneeled down and finally took out the necklace he had kept in his space . " That's why your, mom give me this necklace to show it to you . So that you know I'm a friend ." 

He lowered the necklace so that she could see it from where she was . The moonlight shined it's gentle glow on the golden necklace and Mika felt as if he saw it shimmer .

Mika waited , he could feel her conflicting intent . Her wariness at him and her yearning for comfort . Mika almost though he failed until he saw the water ripple . 

He finally saw the blonde girl swim out from below the dock . She still had a terrified look on her face as if she waited for him to act so she could go back into hiding .

It was interesting to him how her intent was so difficult to lock onto . As if she was being hidden by the world itself.

" Your mom told me she wanted to give this to you Sarah ." He showed her the necklace and she moved closer .

Mika felt her hope increased . She wanted to feel that hope , she yearned to be comforted from her sorrow . He could see the faint tears threatening to fall and the slight shivering from her body . 

" She also told me you liked star gazing Sarah . "

Mika felt the instant shift from her . Those final words of his was the final straw that broke the camel's back . He could feel her suspicions gone and he was relieved . At least the hint had proven useful .

" Let me help you Sarah ." Mika said as he stretched out his hand as the girl started bawling .

She weakly took his arms and he easily pulled her from the lake and the girl deposited herself in his arms and cried . 

" You mom would have been proud of you . " He returned a gentle hug and patted the wet girl gently as she cried in sorrow .

Mika felt that she understood the implications of his words as her sorrow deepened and she further burrowed into his arms in search of comfort . 

" Everything is going to be alright Sarah . I promise . "

Mika gently comforted her as he gazed at the sky above . The beautiful starry sky that enchanted his vision . He felt his sadness being rekindled as he remembered a distance locked away memory . 

' She died on such a night '

The same enchanting starry night sky , the same orchestra of frogs and crickets and the same suffocating hopelessness but these time, it was not him .

He almost saw himself in the little girl as he felt her cold wet clothes start to affect his own clothes and he tightened his hug round her .

The intent around Mika changed once again . His blue eyes lost their normal spark and his face was stone cold . As if an entirely different person had replace him .

" Don't worry kid . I'll keep you safe . . . no matter what !!! "
